Chapter 52 Numb.52 Don't touch me, I'm hot.

Chapter 52 Numb.52 Don't touch me, I'm hot.

The touch was not strong; rather, it was a measured, fleeting touch. The slightly cool sensation only lightly touched the skin of her cheek, leaving a lingering coolness that made Jie Ying's pupils tremble unconsciously. Her hands, hanging at her sides, were clenched into fists, and the two budding growths on her wrists were quite noticeable.

The faint, almost imperceptible scent of freesia, almost hidden in the air, finally caught his attention the moment it touched him. The thin, bony man belatedly realized it and, eager and greedy, subconsciously leaned forward, trying to lock the scent inside his body and prevent it from escaping in the slightest.

The warm breath that Xu Wu had unconsciously sprayed onto his skin when he approached was now being devoured by the cold wind, leaving not even a trace behind, disappearing completely.

Only the intense, agonizing itch remained on the surface of her skin, freely seeping into her body through her active pores. This unbearable itch, which could not be relieved, made Jieying somewhat impatient.

He tried to follow Xu Wu's hand as it left, but before he could even grasp it, Xu Wu suddenly grabbed his wrist.

Jieying suddenly came to her senses. Her heart pounded even more wildly when she met the calm, unwavering gaze of the girl before her. All the noise around her vanished without a trace under the girl's icy touch.

"Is there anything else?" Xu Wu observed his dazed expression, silently rubbing the thin wrist bone in her palm. It was smooth and cool, and the touch was quite nice.

Upon hearing this, Jie Ying shook her head.

Seeing this, Xu Wu said "Let's go" without waiting for his reaction, and then pulled Jie Ying away.

The wind didn't stop, but the place where the two were holding hands, because they were so close together, actually felt a little warm. The back of his hand was still cool, but the fingertips resting on Jie Ying's wrist were hot.

The two people stood on the deserted bus stop platform, their hands clasped apart, with enough space between them to fit another person.

Xu Wu awkwardly swiped her phone with her left hand to find out how many minutes until the last bus arrived at the stop. Her other hand, which had been holding Jie Ying's, was not only still warm, but was becoming even more demanding.

Climbing upwards along the meridians, it touches the body's temperature.

Despite being someone who usually gets cold easily and wears down jackets, Xu Wu suddenly felt inexplicably hot, hot all over, and unsurprisingly, she could feel a lot of sweat on her back.

The sweat clung to his back, sliding down and into his lower back.

The usual watchful gaze, like that of a mouse, was gone. Holding her phone, she endured the burning sensation in her ears and glanced out of the corner of her eye at Jie Ying, who was standing beside her with her head down, seemingly looking at something.

What?

That wasn't her expression just now.

Xu Wu held his breath, so naturally his words weren't pleasant either. He said irritably, "Hey."

She watched as Jie Ying stared blankly at her after being brought back to his senses. His beautiful eyes did not lose their luster even in the dark environment. The wind blew his tousled hair, lifting the stray strands of bangs that had been covering his face, and exposing his eyes to the light without reservation.

Jieying blinked, as if to ask her what was wrong.

Xu Wu paused, then unconsciously placed her hand on his rosy lips, which looked moist under the streetlights, probably licked by his own tongue.

The lips are very thin, and although they are not attractive on their own, they just happen to be on this face—

It's like some kind of unspeakable temptation, like a honey thief who knows he'll be stung by bees but still enjoys the sweetness.

Xu Wu awkwardly looked away from his face, cleared her throat, and expressionlessly put her hands back into her pockets: "Did you remember what I just said?"

She slowly exhaled, as if she felt that the collar was really in the way and blocked her face. The heat not only did not ease but became even more intense. Impatient and without waiting for Jieying's reply, she pulled the zipper down a little to reveal the gray school uniform jacket underneath.

The cold wind, showing no mercy, rushed straight into the warm chest, turning the place where one had finally managed to get some fresh air into a chilly place in an instant.

Seeing that Jie Ying was staring intently at her chest, Xu Wu first glared at him fiercely, but it had no effect. In fact, his hand even seemed to want to reach out and help her put on her clothes.

“Don’t touch it,” she frowned, “I’m very hot.”

The "heat" was unresolved, the lukewarm voice was unstoppable, and the cold wind seeped into the lungs, soothing the excessively cold temperature.

Xu Wu muttered, "Why do you care about this?"

She looked at him again and asked, "Did you hear what I just said?"

"Yes, I heard it." Jie Ying nodded hesitantly.

"I don't care about what happens on stage anymore," Xu Wu questioned him coldly, "but why did you give me the cold shoulder when we were taking pictures?"

He'd better not say it's because he can't stand her getting too close to Shang Xu. It's just a photo together. Hasn't he taken plenty of those before?

—Xu Wuming's bright expression conveyed this meaning.

"..." Jie Ying understood, and he licked his lips again—

He always does this when he's nervous, without even realizing it.

Her previously dry lips were quickly moistened again after his wet tongue slid across them.

Xu Wu was stunned by the action that lasted only three seconds, and before she could recover, she heard Jie Ying continue, "No, that's not the same."

"What's different?" she asked patiently, snapping out of her reverie.

"I... the ones I took before were... were just fog." He stammered, not forgetting to carefully observe Xu Wu's expression, making sure her face didn't change much before mustering his courage to continue: "But, but this one..."

Jie Xiangxiang suddenly seemed to freeze, stammering for a long time without being able to utter a complete sentence, her fair face flushed with embarrassment.

Seeing his expression, Xu Wu understood.

This photo has a special meaning for him; it's the first photo of him and her together.

“I said…” her eyes were complicated, “You’re not going to cut us out separately when the photos come out, are you?”

This question was asked simply based on my understanding of Jieying. The moment the words left my mouth, unsurprisingly, he blinked, as if to say why not.

He smiled at Xu Wu, his eyes shining.

A smile with a superior appearance always attracts attention.

Xu Wu asked, "What are you laughing at?"

Noticing his pursed lips, she said with a straight face, "It doesn't look good, don't laugh."

Jie Ying withdrew the smile from her lips and lowered her head, not daring to go too far.

Just then, a bus slowly pulled up from not far away. After watching Xu Wu board the bus and waiting for its taillights to completely disappear from sight, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

My face is about to break down.

He rubbed the spot where Xu Wu's high, straight nose had touched him.

us.

He silently pondered those two words.

My heart started pounding with excitement.

This was the first time Xu Wu had said this, and she had incorporated him into the word.

There were many people in that group photo, but only we were there.

Realizing this, Jie Ying covered her rapidly beating heart, almost unable to bear it and nearly kneeling down, her eyes misting with beautiful red.

It wasn't just his heart anymore; his face, his fingers, even his entire soul were about to fester from Xu Wu's touch—

So it was buried in the soil, becoming the best nourishment for its flowering period.

The cold wind howled, lightly sweeping across the hair hanging down her forehead, shaking the withered yellow leaves lying on the ground, pushing them up high and then swaying precariously before they fell heavily back to the ground.

Xu Wu stepped on the withered leaves, making a crisp crunching sound.

She was almost home when she walked a little further ahead. At that moment, she looked down and scrolled through the class group chat, scrolling through the final exam messages that the class monitor had sent.

The exam is scheduled for Wednesday to Friday of next week. After the exam, we can leave school for winter break.

Xu Wu casually replied "Received" like most others, and just as he was about to turn off his phone screen, a new message popped up.

She frowned—

Fang Rumei: Happy New Year!

I transferred the 52 yuan red envelope.

Fang Rumei: Has the school announced when winter break will start?

Fang Rumei: Come back this year, it'll be more lively with more people.

Xu Wu stared at it for a few seconds, then turned off his phone without changing his expression and put it back in his pocket, ignoring the message that the other party was typing.

Time flies after New Year's Day, and the end of the semester is fast approaching.

The exams lasted for three days, and by the time the last subject, English, was over, it was almost 4:30 in the afternoon.

Because a class meeting was held before the exam to discuss holiday precautions, not many people lingered in the classroom after the exam. They only left one after another after the class monitor had finished instructing everyone to put the desks and chairs back in their original positions.

Xu Wu stood at the entrance of Class 2 with her schoolbag slung over one shoulder, waiting for Fu Xi to come out. After the exam, they had to go back to the classroom to listen to the homeroom teacher say a few words, which would probably take another ten minutes or so.

She glanced inside a few times, intending to find where Fu Xi was sitting, but her gaze inadvertently fell on Zheng Liangwen. Seeing that his gaze kept falling on Fu Xi in the front seat as he looked at the podium, Xu Wu raised an eyebrow as if she had noticed something.

As soon as the party ended, she went up to Fu Xi the moment she came out. Seeing her unfriendly expression, she asked curiously, "Why are you acting like someone owes you a million or two?"

"What do you mean by a million or two hundred thousand?" Fu Xi turned around and glared impatiently at Zheng Liangwen, who was following closely behind her. She warned him not to follow before dragging Xu Wu away, cursing all the while.

Xu Wu also turned around and saw Zheng Liangwen standing there looking hesitant to speak. He couldn't help but wonder and asked, "What's wrong?"

“I went out with him on New Year’s Day,” Fu Xi pouted. “I waited until we got there before he told me he had something to do and couldn’t come.”

The two stopped at the corner of the stairs.

Xu Wu frowned: "Why didn't you tell me?"

"That's embarrassing! I asked him out and he stood me up," Fu Xi said, arms crossed. "And..."

"And what?"

"That day I saw another girl in my class's WeChat Moments and found that he was also there in the photos of their party."

Fu Xi spoke in a very calm tone.

Xu Wu paused for a moment, then said succinctly, "He's not good enough. You should find someone else."

"Change to what?"

A sudden sound rang out in the narrow space.

Xu Wu looked toward the source of the sound and saw Chu Lian and Jie Ying walking up the stairs from below, each holding a few sheets of paper. She was surprised.

"I just happened to run into them. I was going to deliver some documents," Chu Lian explained, his gaze shifting between the two people in front of him. "What are you talking about? What are you exchanging?"

"It's nothing," Fu Xi said, clearly unwilling to elaborate.

"Are you in such a hurry to get home?" Chu Lian asked.

"You're not coming home."

He waved the paper in his hand: "If you're free, come with me to deliver some documents. Anyway, you don't have anything to do going back so early."

Fu Xi retorted, "What do you mean? I'm busy too, okay?"

"Busy getting stood up"

"Chu Lian!" Fu Xi was furious.

"Alright, alright, you might as well ask me out. I definitely won't stand you up." Chu Lian grabbed Fu Xi's squealing wrist and dragged her upstairs without saying a word. "Come on, let's go deliver the documents."

Fu Xi's struggles were too far away to be heard.

The two figures disappeared on the stairs.

Xu Wu looked at the person standing straight in front of him—

They weren't wearing thin school uniforms anymore; at least they knew to wear a jacket.

Caught off guard, she met the deep pool in Jie Ying's eyes. The threads emerging from the tranquil pool, mixed with the loneliness and fervor of the water, tightly wrapped around her finger bones and then down to her slender wrist. The cold breath clung to her skin and slowly caressed her delicate neck.

“I thought you had left long ago,” Xu Wu said.

The exam rooms for the high school entrance exams are arranged according to scores. Her exam room was earlier than Jie Ying's, so naturally she didn't pay attention to where he was after the exam.

"Um, um, no." His gaze was sticky, like a damp tissue clinging to his skin. "I, I'll wait for you downstairs."
