Chapter 57 Nmub.57 Shadow Interpretation
"I'm so sorry, I ran a little too fast when I saw the elevator doors were about to close." A clear, slightly breathless female voice sounded apologetically from the front.
Xu Wu pursed her lips and said somewhat awkwardly, "It's okay."
She hadn't seen this girl before; she guessed she was a newcomer.
The girl has delicate, pretty features, shoulder-length short hair, and is about 1.6 meters tall.
besides-
Xu Wu leaned against the corner, silently clenching her hands, her thoughts drifting away.
The sea salt scent was coming from the girl; it was very faint, but she could smell it clearly and couldn't possibly be mistaken.
It was just a tiny bit, almost blending into the air, yet it so easily aroused all her senses.
Xu Wu leaned wearily against the mirror in the elevator, using the reflection to peek at the girl standing in the middle, who was looking down at her phone.
Suddenly, a subtle, almost imperceptible sense of unease arose deep within her, and since she made no attempt to hide it, it surfaced, causing her to furrow her brow.
Ugh, this smell is so annoying.
Just like four years ago, he quietly disappeared from her sight.
Xu Wu remained expressionless, all her damned complaints directed at someone else—
She even resisted mentioning the name.
bite-
The elevator arrived at the seventh floor.
Xu Wu snapped out of her daze, composed herself, and was about to leave when she noticed the girl from the elevator had also come out with her, even a few steps faster.
She raised an eyebrow, deliberately slowed her pace, and watched as the girl entered room 704 and closed the door. It turned out she was a neighbor on the same floor.
Xu Wu's room was just a few steps away from hers, the one directly opposite the elevator.
However, staring at someone like that is indeed a bit impolite.
Xu Wu, realizing what had happened, felt a bit of self-deprecating annoyance. It was just because of a taste, yet he had harbored unspeakable dark feelings towards such a stranger. It really shouldn't have been like that.
Thinking of this, she shook her head, banishing all those strange thoughts from her mind, before walking straight to her front door, taking out her keys, and opening the door.
The door had barely opened a crack when urgent meows came from inside. Before Xu Wu could react, a small black shadow darted out and pounced on her lap.
Xu Wu pulled out the key, calmly bent down and picked up the little tabby cat, and even scratched its chin. As if to make it feel comfortable, it squinted its eyes, made two gurgling sounds, and flicked its tail in the air.
"Don't run around," she said, pretending to pinch the little tabby's cheek fiercely. "If you get caught and sterilized, I won't be responsible for you."
The little tabby remained silent, its ears twitched, and it continued licking the fur on my hand.
Its behavior is just like that of its former owner.
I don't want to hear anything that's detrimental to me.
Xu Wu pinched the little bamboo stalk that was draped over his arm, then opened the door and went inside. He pressed the switch on the wall, then patted the tabby cat's bottom to signal it to jump down. He then went to get cat food to feed it.
Seeing the little tabby cat rushing over like a hungry wolf, eating with gusto, Xu Wu chuckled and patted its head. Then, she propped herself up on her knees and went to the living room to pour herself a glass of water. Holding the glass, she leaned against the side and rested for a while.
The notifications on his phone kept vibrating, and Xu Wu glanced at them briefly—
Most of the people in the group agreed to have a small wrap party tomorrow night since the last performance tonight was over, except for Xu Wu who hadn't expressed his opinion yet.
Although this was troublesome, there was no reason to refuse, since for someone like her who hadn't graduated yet, it was a great opportunity to expand her network.
After thinking it over, Xu Wu replied that he agreed.
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see the little tabby cat, having eaten and drunk its fill, jumping onto the coffee table in the living room and starting to groom itself.
Seeing this, Xu Wu turned off his phone and jokingly asked, "Hey, want to take a bath with me?"
Upon hearing this, the little tabby gave her a haughty glance, then wagged its tail, jumped off the coffee table, walked to the corner where the button was placed, and pressed "No".
Xu Wu shrugged, not paying any attention to the cat that didn't like baths. Anyway, she would take it to the pet store for a bath in a couple of days, so she didn't want to waste her energy catching the cat.
I went back to my bedroom to get my pajamas and then headed to the bathroom.
Actually, her thoughts about that girl were a bit off.
Xu Wu glanced sideways at another bottle of shower gel that was quietly placed next to the sink. About a third of it had been used, and the thick, blue liquid with purple particles was releasing its fragrance unrestrainedly from every gap in the pump.
It tastes exactly the same, but even stronger.
These scents enveloped the narrow space of the bathroom, seeping not only into the stone tiles but also into the owner's hair and pores.
The licking was disgusting and sticky.
Xu Wu stared quietly at the bottle of shower gel.
She felt she shouldn't be so conflicted; this kind of shower gel should have been thrown in the trash long ago. But somehow, she didn't do it.
Because she clearly understood that if she really did that, that person would truly have left nothing with her.
Ah... Xu Wu listened to the sounds of the little tabby cat doing parkour outside and thought to herself, "There is still a cat."
The cat was acting strangely; it was quiet just a moment ago, but now it's outside, pawing at the bathroom door as if it won't give up until it gets her out.
"Take a break, I'll play with you after I take a shower, okay?" Xu Wu's helpless voice rang out from behind the steamy bathroom door, sounding somewhat muffled.
"Meow meow meow!!" The little tabby cat wasn't having any of it and scratched even harder.
Xu Wu didn't know who the cat inherited its temperament from, and he didn't think he was that stubborn.
It was probably all related to that person, and thinking about it made her even more upset.
There was nothing Xu Wu could do, and she was too lazy to dwell on the bottle of shower gel. She only stayed in the bathroom for about ten minutes before rushing out.
She pulled all her hair up and secured it at the back of her head with a hair clip. Although a few unruly strands would occasionally fall down, it didn't matter much; instead, it added a touch of languid charm to her look.
Her entire face was flushed red from the mist, and her originally aggressive eyebrows and eyes had softened. The corners of her upturned eyes were wet with redness, and her neck and collarbone were covered with water droplets that were hard to tell whether they were from not wiping off or from the thin sweat caused by the heat. They hung there precariously, occasionally sliding down her fair skin and dripping into the depths of her skin.
"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy."
The buttons on the little tabby cat outside were making a frantic clicking sound.
"Coming, coming." Xu Wu sighed, slipped on her slippers and walked into the living room. The first thing she saw was the little tabby cat circling around the button. When it saw her come out, it meowed at her a few times, and then quickly ran to the front door and got up to fiddle with the doorknob.
"Hey—" Xu Wu was afraid that it would really push him away and run away, so he quickly went over to pick up the unfilial son.
Unexpectedly, whether it was because she hadn't closed the door properly when she came in, or because the little tabby cat was strong enough, she actually managed to open a gap big enough for the little tabby cat to pass through.
As the small crack opened, the voices outside could be clearly heard coming in.
"Thank you for moving last time. Come in and have a seat." The voice was female, and judging from the distance it carried, she was probably not far from here.
Ugh—it would be so embarrassing for her to go out now.
Xu Wu frowned, her gaze falling on the restless little pig-cat with a hint of annoyance. She wondered why it was being so active today.
"Come back, or I'll take away your freeze-dried toy tomorrow." Xu Wu cautiously approached it while threatening in a low voice, "Not just tomorrow, I'll take it away the day after tomorrow too."
The little tabby cat acted as if it hadn't heard her, glanced back at her, then raised its head, quickly turned around and darted out.
Xu Wu's eyes widened, but it was too late to stop him.
"Where did this cat come from?" came a surprised female voice from outside.
What a troublesome cat.
Xu Wu was annoyed, but she couldn't leave without bringing him back. Having no other choice, she reluctantly pushed open the door: "Excuse me—"
The words of apology fell silent as they landed on the man standing not far in front of her. Her mind went blank for a moment, as if struck by lightning, and she stared unblinkingly, her eyes stinging with tears.
There were two people standing there, one of whom was a girl who lived in room 704.
The other was a man who was much taller than the girl.
Although his bangs weren't very long, they landed squarely on his brow bone, revealing a pair of terrifying eyes. The mole under his lip twitched slightly as he pursed his lips in surprise.
His skin tone hadn't changed; it was still an unhealthy white, but even so—his face was still unbelievably beautiful.
Xu Wu clearly noticed that his previously empty pupils showed a slight ripple the moment their eyes met.
The ripples gradually expanded, rapidly rising from the depths of the pupils and spreading to the micro-expressions on the face—a ghostly smoothness of longing and hesitation.
It was entangled with her like this again.
They have absolutely no intention of giving up.
There is also a kind of bittersweet pleasure.
Solution shadow.
Xu Wu remained silent, somewhat dazed, gripping the doorknob with unusual force, her hands trembling involuntarily with fear.
Solve the shadow, resolve the shadow, resolve the shadow, resolve the shadow.
She was clearly avoiding it, Xu Wu thought to herself, she didn't even want to mention that name.
An awkward atmosphere filled the air. The little tabby cat, who was nestled comfortably in Jie Ying's arms, seemed to finally realize that something was wrong. She looked up guiltily at Xu Wu, who seemed lost and dejected, and without saying a word, she got up from his arms, kicked him, and ran towards Xu Wu, rubbing against her leg in a fawning manner.
After a long pause, Jie Ying slowly spoke, her voice hoarse and strained: "You..."
He only said that one word and then stopped.
The tone is not much different from back then, only it's not as raw anymore.
And then there's that face. Xu Wu's expression was tense. Compared to back then, the features were clearer, and she looked more mature.
"Do you two know each other?" The girl realized what was going on, her gaze shifting back and forth between the two. Seeing no reply, she didn't say anything more, looked at Jie Ying, and said with a smile, "Come in, it's not easy for you to come all this way."
He really dares to do that.
Xu Wu gripped the doorknob tightly, so hard that the base of her wrist bulged out, causing her to feel no pain. She remained silent and stared intently at Jie Ying.
He turned his gaze back to the girl beside him, hesitated for a moment, and then nodded slightly.
The girl's smile widened, and she nodded at Xu Wu.
Solve the shadow..... Solve the shadow.
Xu Wu lowered her head, her nose stung, and her already red eyes became even more intense as an unspeakable sense of grievance welled up in her heart.
