Chapter 31 Numb.31 Kiss with your eyes

Chapter 31 Numb.31 Kiss with your eyes

The curtains were drawn, and the dark room was completely dark. Apart from the sound of the rain pounding against the glass, the only sounds were the two people's breaths rising and falling, gradually merging together.

Before one person could even exhale, their breath entered the other's nasal cavity, then spread through the blood vessels and limbs, permeating each other from the inside out.

Xu Wu wasn't asleep; she was staring intently at him.

When Jie Ying realized this, he felt his whole body turn ice cold, and even his palms were covered in a thin layer of sweat. His heavy, uneven breathing had clearly betrayed him.

It was a cold and disgusted look in her eyes.

For the first time, he hated his own eyes, which could come and go freely in the darkness.

Jie Ying didn't dare to look at her. In his panic, he tried to straighten up and apologize, but suddenly the hand of the person beneath him reached out from under the covers and grabbed his collar.

Her grip was strong, crumpling the collar into a messy ball. Jie Ying froze, not daring to move. She cautiously tried to look up at Xu Wu's reaction, but the next second—

He was suddenly pulled by her, and he lost his balance and fell forward.

Jie Ying: "!"

His pupils widened as he was about to fall on Xu Wu, and he hurriedly and subconsciously used his hands to support his body.

This change happened in just two seconds. His hands were on either side of Xu Wu's head. He was so nervous that he could barely breathe, and even slowed his breathing to a whisper, afraid of upsetting Xu Wu.

The hand gripping his collar hadn't let go yet; the collar was open, revealing pale skin and a deep collarbone.

Xu Wu remained silent, so Jie Ying boldly lowered her head slightly to look at him, kissing him with her eyes.

In the darkness, her eyes were not as bright as they were during the day; instead, they appeared lifeless, and her pupils seemed dull and lifeless.

Xu Wu tilted her head back slightly, her delicate chin lifted, her thin lips parted slightly but her moist tongue was not visible, and her hair was messy, pressed against the pillow or brushed against her face.

Jie Ying wasn't sure if she was looking at him, but she seemed to be searching for his gaze.

"Fog?" he leaned down and asked in a low voice, curling his left index finger as he looked at the stray strands of hair on her cheek and wanted to reach out and brush them away.

The moment the thought popped into his head, Jieying didn't feel anything was wrong after the surprise.

Even though his jealousy was so extreme that he would get angry if he touched her hair.

As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Wu met his lowered eyes.

She found the source of his gaze.

"Why are you here?" Xu Wu asked coldly. Although the hand was gripping his collar, there was still a safe distance between them, allowing for timely reaction time even if something happened.

Jieying's breath fell on her ear, amplified dozens of times, spreading throughout her senses. It was deep and heavy, and there was also an undeniable itch, densely scratching at her heart.

Xu Wu straightened up, her hands trembling, though not by much.

The next moment, Jie Ying grabbed her wrist.

It was very hot; his palms were burning hot and slightly sweaty.

He effortlessly covered her wrist, the warm, moist heat pressing against her slightly cool skin, the contrast of hot and cold colliding.

Xu Wu shuddered and unconsciously loosened his grip.

She heard Jianying's low, husky voice above her. She couldn't see the other person's lips, but that didn't stop the voice from hitting her ears: "I want to, I want to come and see you."

"Take a look?" Xu Wu repeated his words, suddenly feeling an irresistible urge to get up and pin him down, but she didn't do anything concrete. She just sneered at him, "Are you being kind or malicious? Who taught you to just barge into people's rooms like that?"

Actually, she knew that neither of those words had anything to do with Jieying; he didn't mean it that way, he just wanted to do it that way.

Although she knew Jie Ying wouldn't hurt her, the moment he came in and bowed his head, Xu Wu still felt an uncontrollable sense of panic.

It's not about the person, it's about the matter.

She couldn't forget it, yet she desperately wanted to grasp at any straw.

This conflicting feeling led her to grab the person in front of her while simultaneously using her arm to create a safe distance.

There is also a hidden element that the other party cannot refuse.

"I'm sorry." Jie Ying was scolded by her, and her heart tightened as she let go of her hand. Her tone was very disappointed, and she did not offer any further explanation.

My wrist, which had been held for a while, was suddenly freed, and the warmth left behind by my body, when blown by the cold air from the air conditioner, felt even colder.

Xu Wu paused for a moment before slowly lowering herself. Jie Ying knelt on either side of her, a position that prevented her from doing anything.

She awkwardly bent her knees, touched his calf with her foot through the blanket, and whispered, "Get up."

The flesh on the inside of his calves was very soft, Xu Wu could feel it.

In contrast, Jie Ying remained silent due to this slightly warning action, and the breath he exhaled towards her collarbone and neck became increasingly heavy.

"...Jie Ying?" Xu Wu sensed something was wrong and tentatively called his name.

"Mmm." The person on top of him replied from the darkness, as if suppressing something, their voice hoarse at the end.

Xu Wu had a bad feeling, and her heart skipped a beat. She quickly pushed Jie Ying's shoulder, trying to make him move away.

Whether it was because she was too strong or because Jieying was caught off guard, she was actually pushed away.

Without saying a word, Xu Wu got up and tried to run away, but before her feet even touched the ground, someone suddenly grabbed her waist from behind and placed a large hand on her abdomen.

I felt the tall shadow gradually enveloping me.

The sudden loss of sight in the darkness made her visibly panicked, and the hand on her stomach easily made her lean back with a slight pressure.

Until she fell onto the soft blanket, the first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was the shadow covering her. The familiar scent was relentlessly assaulting her, and the gaze was fixed on her from above.

After a while, she heard a faint sigh.

"You're not wearing shoes," said the shadow clinging to her.

Feigned concern. Xu Wu frowned, a sharp emotion rising within her, her anger simmering. She suppressed her rage and said, "I told you to get up."

You are not allowed to suppress her like this, nor are you allowed to show her any other thoughts.

Xu Wu trembled uncontrollably; she felt nauseous.

She clenched her teeth; the discomfort made her nose sting and made it hard to breathe, almost suffocating.

Xu Wu gasped for breath, her thoughts completely muddled, her mind buzzing and blank. She closed her eyes, her vision blurred with tears, and refused to look anymore.

If he dares to touch... This thought hadn't lasted more than a few seconds when she felt her wrist being grabbed again, and her body being pulled slightly forward.

Xu Wu opened her eyes in surprise, but before she could react, Jie Ying pressed close to her.

It wasn't exactly a hug; he sat down beside her, raised his hand to her back, and gently stroked and patted her.

This was a reassurance, and miraculously, Xu Wu's heart, which had been pounding rapidly due to anxiety, seemed to be truly comforted, and his tense back slowly relaxed.

"Is it foggy? Have you thought of something bad?" he asked slowly, his hands still moving.

Xu Wu took a few breaths, hugged her legs, rested her chin on her knees, and said in a muffled voice, "It's none of your business."

Those were memories that embarrassed her, memories she wished she could erase.

Not only is it unrelated to Jieying, but she also hopes that the protagonist of that memory is not her.

Upon hearing this, the hand patting her back paused for a mere two seconds, so fast it seemed like an illusion.

But Xu Wu was in no mood to care. She was on edge, her thoughts were so disordered that she couldn't think straight.

"I," Jie Ying cautiously leaned closer, "could I...?"

Xu Wu lowered her head, her forehead pressed against her arm, and without thinking, said, "No."

Don't offer hugs or words of comfort; in her eyes, those are the most useless things.

She abandoned it a long time ago and no longer needed it, and of course, it's no different now.

"I just... I just wanted to say..."

Her arm was pulled away by a force so light she couldn't refuse.

Xu Wu tilted her head back and looked sideways, her helpless gaze meeting Jie Ying's eyes directly—a gaze so intense it was impossible to ignore.

Then, she felt the other person's fingers slowly glide across her face, as if wiping something away.

Xu Wu stared blankly at him – she couldn’t see Jie Ying, only a blurry outline.

"I'm sorry, it's all my fault." He said softly and self-reproachfully, "Don't cry."

Xu Wu then belatedly realized what he had wiped away—a tear.

There's only one drop.

Boring behavior.

Xu Wu slapped his hand away expressionlessly and said coldly, "Don't touch me."

With a snap, Jie Ying felt a sharp pain on the back of his hand. He knew it would probably turn red, but he didn't care.

On the contrary, they felt honored and pleased because it was Xu Wu's reward.

Although he couldn't see Xu Wu's true expression, it didn't stop him from imagining it.

Her wet, reddened eyes and misty gaze held an unspeakable vulnerability, yet she resisted getting close, like a hedgehog.

Thinking this, Jieying felt as if needles were piercing her heart, causing a dense, tingling pain.

I really want to touch her, I really want to touch everything about her.

Including things that made her cry.

After a two-second silence, Jie Ying turned away from the scene.

Xu Wu wouldn't want others to see her like this.

For a moment, the only sound in the quiet room was the operation of the air conditioner, and even the sound of the rain outside seemed to diminish.

"When are you leaving?" Xu Wu asked after a moment.

Jie Ying didn't turn around: "I'm sorry, I'm..."

As he was about to get up and get out of bed, a soft voice came from behind him: "...I didn't say that."

He swayed and turned his head in surprise.

Xu Wu returned to the position of hugging her knees, her forehead pressed against her knees, and turned her head to whisper, "That's what you think."

"Does the fog want me to stay?" Jieying pursed her lips, afraid she had misheard, and crawled two steps forward to her side, not daring to get too close.

Remaining silent.

Jieying just sat there watching her.

“…Hmm.” A muffled sound came shortly afterward.

Author's Note: I really want to kneel down and beg myself not to be lazy, but I've discovered that even kneeling down doesn't prevent me from being lazy. [Clown][Clown]
