Chapter 639: Noble and Humble

Riva was a little confused, but only a fool would stay here if he could get out, so he quickly slipped out.

Fortunately, it seemed that none of my things were missing. I was worried when I saw the guard rummaging through my things, but in the end, even my wallet was not lost.

Little did he know that the little money he brought was not even enough for two meals of wine, and the guards simply disdained to take it. In his pockets, there was only a pile of rags that looked useless, and under him was a large bag of dry and hard rations and disgusting-smelling packaged pickled food, which no one wanted.

"Come on, that's the person who will vouch for you!"

Riva was pushed out of the prison. The sunlight outside was a bit dazzling to him as he had been in prison for most of the day, and he couldn't help but cover his eyes.

After he got a little accustomed, he saw a group of people riding horned beasts outside. They were all well-equipped, and even the tall mounts they were sitting on were intimidating. Riva subconsciously shrank back.

“Tsk…hahahahahahaha, is this the damned ghost?”

Unlike the previous taunts that irritated Riva, this laughter did not make Riva angry, but instead made him feel a little scared.

“Patta…Patta…”

A tall horned beast took a few steps closer, giving Riva a strong sense of oppression due to its size.

"Are you the guy who said he prepared everything to go look for the stars?"

On top of the horned beast was a man who looked very easy-going. He looked down at Riva and asked questions.

Riva didn't know how to answer, until he saw the person on the horned beast narrow his eyes, and he felt a little panicked.

"Yes, yes! I am going to look for the stars, so I am not a spy..."

Gao Yinsi looked at the big bag in Riva's hand.

"Why do you think you can find the stars? If you can tell us something, you can come with us, and you will get a reward at the end regardless of whether you find the stars or not. If you can't tell us anything useful, go back to jail."

Riva was actually not stupid. He guessed that this group of people were also looking for stars from the fact that the other party asked about stars at the beginning. Now he heard that it was true.

However, a place like prison was enough to make him shudder even after staying there for only half a day. This was not a modern prison on Earth that had to be humane. The prison here was filled with stench, filth and the smell of death.

"You guys want to look for stars too?"

When Riva asked this question, he felt stupid, so he immediately added it.

"If so, I can help you, but I only ask you to prove that I helped find the star instead of just bragging!!"

He continued without waiting for the other party to agree.

"I saw the entire process of the stars falling. I am more familiar with the approximate location of that direction than anyone else here. I remember the trajectory of the stars falling. I look at the stars every night and know some of them very well. Combined with the trajectory, I can figure out where the stars fell based on these!!!"

Riva said everything he wanted to say at once, and then waited for the result with his heart pounding. He could not resist such a big shot.

"Interesting, your explanation is quite novel. I know that some veteran scouts in the army can determine the direction based on the stars...Okay, you come with us and take him on the mount!"

The last sentence was obviously addressed to the servant.

After a while, Riva, sitting on the horned helmet, went out of the city with the team. When leaving the city, Riva was quite arrogant, and on the horned helmet, he held his head high and chest puffed out in front of those who were surprised to know him.

There were a total of 14 horned beasts in the team, but the guards and attendants who accompanied them also numbered about thirty or forty people, so a large part of them still had to walk.

Although the Soma people were not as strong as the wild orcs with beast-like characteristics, their marching speed was not very slow and they soon left the city.

Shortly after leaving the city, Riva got off the horned helmet and walked directly. He felt that he should be more sensible.

It was almost dark, and since he hadn't eaten all day, Riva walked while cutting small pieces of a hard biscuit with a knife.

Out of curiosity, a young noble in the team asked Riva for a piece of dry biscuit to see what was happening. As a result, he felt like he was holding a stone, which was heavy and hard, and could be used as a weapon if it was hit on the body.

"Take a break and prepare dinner!"

The front guards in the team found a good camping site, and the entire team stopped to rest after arriving.

Riva squatted alone on a stone in the corner of the camp, staring blankly at the soldiers inside as they lit a fire and set up a pot.

A warm fire was soon lit. The nights were particularly cold after the beginning of autumn. Riva tightened his cloak and had no intention of going near the fire. The people there looked at him with contempt and ridicule. There was already a very obvious sense of distance, and he didn't want to get into trouble.

The man who was called "Your Highness" by everyone looked kind, but was the one Riva was most afraid of. Those guards were not like the soldiers he had seen before. Those soldiers would not give Riva such a strong sense of distance. Although these guards were not as exaggerated as those noble masters, they also revealed a transcendent...sense of superiority.

"What a waste... burning so much wood to cook such a small thing... and using so much water to wash hands..."

This was what the simple Riva was thinking at the moment. He then chewed the dry and hard biscuit in his mouth again and looked up at the sky. He just hoped that he could find water in the next few days.

Beside the campfire, a pot of broth was already boiling. The rich aroma stirred everyone's heartstrings. After half a day, everyone was already tired and hungry.

"Your Highness, here, be careful to burn your mouth!"

The servant used a wooden spoon and a wooden bowl to scoop up the soup from the first night with lots of meat chunks, and then carefully handed it to Gao Yins. The servant on the other side dragged a wooden plate with something soft that looked like pasta on it.

After Gao Yinsi and several young nobles got their soup, it was naturally the guards' turn.

"Hiss...ah, this broth tastes really good!"

"Hmm...I'm really hungry today!"

"Ha ha ha ha……"

Gao Yins took a sip of the broth that was already at just the right temperature, and his body, which had felt a little chilly from the evening breeze, warmed up. He looked around and found Riva squatting alone in the corner of the camp.

In fact, he briefly forgot about this little character while eating, or perhaps many people here were the same, except for a few guards who were keeping a close eye on Riva.

At this moment, Riva was making a gun gesture with both hands, crossing them above his head, staring at the gap between his hands, comparing something back and forth. It was obvious that he was "looking for a way", which made Gao Yins' eyes flash.

"Ger."

"I'm here!"

"Go, give that fellow a bowl of broth and some food. It would be bad if the guide died of starvation."

"yes!"

Originally, no one was going to give Riva any more broth when they saw him eating the "stone cake" by himself. However, now that Gao Yins had spoken, no one dared to disobey.

Riva was aiming at the directions of Tiandongxing and Tiannanxing, pointing at a few other darker nameless stars, imagining the angle at which the meteor had passed before, when a black shadow suddenly covered the top of his head.

"Give!"

"ah!!!"

Riva was startled.

"Why are you walking without making any sound?! Huh..."

“Hahahahahaha…” “This coward hahahaha!!!”…

Riva didn't feel angry at all when being mocked by these people. Any one of them had a much higher status than him. He took the soup with gratitude on his face and kept thanking them.

"Meat! Meat! There is meat! "

Although there were not many pieces of meat in the broth, they were real, and Riva's saliva secreted at an alarming rate.

“Gurgle gurgle…hiss…ah!!”

Cutting off some dry biscuits and putting them into the soup, it tasted even more delicious. Riva suddenly felt a sense of humble satisfaction.

'Those bad neighbors probably don't eat as well as I do! Hey!'
