Chapter 39: Solid as a Rock
The moon has come out. Mu Jin is lying on the bed with her eyes still closed. The moonlight is soft.
The gravel ground in the backyard shone with a dark and shiny light in the moonlight. He thought of Jiaoran's eyes, which were softer than the moonlight tonight.
The night in Mianyuan is much brighter than the night in the Governor's Mansion.
This small space is much larger than the prison in the middle of the Cainv Pond in the secret passage of the Governor's Mansion.
He sat in the middle, and at the age of three he couldn't walk steadily.
The crying went on and on. A three-year-old child didn't even know what death meant.
His initial definition of death was pain, and he thought every time he felt pain was death.
When he was little, he lay on the platform in the middle of the pool, listening to the dull sound of mercury flowing, just like listening to the blood circulating in the belly of a giant beast. Before he could listen for long, a thin silk thread shot out from a star disk carved with unicorn patterns above his head.
It pierced his heart with unerring precision.
At first he cried out in pain and called for his mother. In fact, he didn't know what a mother was, as he had never seen her since he was born.
Not to mention Dad.
It was the old nanny who often brought him food who said that if his mother were still alive, he would definitely not have to suffer so much.
He began to have memories at the age of three, and from then on he was imprisoned for another two years.
In the following years, he only came once or twice a year.
The secret room was very large. Except when taking blood, all the roads leading to and around the Cha Nu Pond were closed, so he was trapped in the mercury.
Over time, he began to cough and have nosebleeds.
One day, a man claiming to be his uncle came here and brought a boy with him. Perhaps because he was so sick and about to die, the uncle wanted to come and see if the guards were exaggerating.
The boy brought by the uncle was Chache.
When he didn't know what friends and family were, Tchaikovsky taught him.
Although he is a young boy, his swordsmanship is quite good.
Light, skillful, and steady, the sword in his hand felt like a part of his body.
Seeing that he was fascinated by what he saw, Cha Che began to teach him.
I don’t know if it was his uncle’s instruction, but Chai Che often came to visit him later.
He was trapped in the mercury, and Chai Che couldn't get through. Even in that situation, Chai Che came to teach him swordsmanship. His body followed the sword, and during the days when Mu Jin couldn't breathe, the swordsmanship taught by Chai Che was his only hope.
Sometimes when he came, he had already been released from the Ca Nu Pond and could walk out of the mercury to the shore and practice with Chai Che. That was his happiest moment, as if the closer he was to him, the less afraid he was of the endless loneliness and solitude.
When he was ten years old, he tried to escape for the first time, but unfortunately, he disappointed Chache a little.
It has been five years since he was released from the secret passage, a full five years. It took him five years, and he originally thought he had the confidence to escape.
The Governor's Mansion is not impregnable and there are some loopholes in its guards. As long as he escapes during the handover of soldiers and guards, it would be best if he slips away like a gust of wind. From then on, the world will be vast and he will never be bound again.
He pretended to be clever and threw out a copper coin, then threw a second one to hit the first one. The collision of the two copper coins attracted the attention of the guards in the night, and they were all attracted to another direction by the sound of the copper coins.
He thought he could escape.
Just when he was only a few feet away from one of the exits of the Governor's Mansion, a figure slowly walked out from behind the door.
He was caught in an awkward position.
My uncle was merciless. If he caught him, he would definitely punish him.
He was just a ten-year-old kid, how could he punish him?
He thought that the worst that could happen was to kill him.
Death, how much happiness had he really had in these years? Was that little happiness worth living for?
The Governor's Mansion had a bloody mouth and swallowed him. He had difficulty breathing, but they still wanted his blood to feed this giant beast. He wished he could kill himself.
His uncle offered him a chance. He said, "I heard that Che'er taught you swordsmanship. How about this? If you defeat Che'er today, I'll pretend I saw nothing and send you back to Siyu Garden."
Mu Jin's eyes lit up, "Really?"
He looked at Chaiche, but Chaiche on the opposite side slightly avoided his gaze.
In front of Chai Che, his skillful swordsmanship suddenly turned into vulgar swordsmanship.
Chai Che used only a wooden sword to knock the sword out of his hand.
Even though he was still a minor, his martial arts skills were already unpredictable.
It was then that he understood for the first time that Cha Che's sword was a ruthless sword.
He will never give up winning.
Chaiche looked at him with a hint of apology, but he did not hurt him. This was his last kindness.
But he would rather Chai Che had killed him just now.
My uncle dismissed the other guards and his sons from the study.
He took off his bracelet, a heavy tourmaline bracelet.
Ask him to stretch out his hand.
My uncle was a gentle man. He wrapped the bracelet with a handkerchief and hit the knuckles on the back of his hand again and again.
The first time it hit, there was a snap, and the wound didn't bleed, but the pain didn't subside.
He was hit so hard that he shouted loudly.
My uncle, whose martial arts skills were already highly accomplished and whose internal strength was profound, chuckled and said, "You'd better shut up, or you won't even be able to keep all ten of your fingers."
He knew his uncle was not joking with him.
The tourmaline hit his knuckles again and again. He was shaking with pain, but he dared not cry out anymore. He thought he would fall down in pain, but he always kept his feet in front of his uncle and never knelt down to beg for mercy.
He was determined not to fall, not to kneel down and beg for life before this man who was stronger than him.
He was defeated, but he wanted to fight again.
This was just the first time, and it was normal for him to be negligent the first time. Next time, next time he would definitely be able to escape, escape from this huge prison.
Then he endured it all without saying a word. His uncle had put away the bracelet and was looking at him with a strange expression.
Finally, he told him to go back.
He didn't dare to kill him, Mu Jin made the right bet.
No matter what use he had in keeping him, he wouldn't kill him, at least not now. Even he himself didn't know his value.
When he returned to Siyu Garden, Chai Che was already waiting for him at the door.
He also looked at Mu Jin with a strange expression.
Mu Jin had to admit that the father and son seemed to be carved from the same mold.
Chai Che was different from him. He was a true royal relative and had the best masters teaching him both civil and military skills. There were countless people who taught him and answered his questions.
So he is noble, which is a world of difference from him being a prisoner.
His apology came out like this, word by word, "The sword you used just now was too slow, otherwise you might have defeated me."
He said "oh" and went in without saying anything else.
It seemed as if a new group of maids and guards had been brought into the Yu Garden, and they all stared at him like they were prey.
There was only one maid who kept her head down and didn't look at him.
Seeing that Mu Jin was still angry, Chai Che asked the girl to come forward and stand in front of Mu Jin, "Raise your head."
Mu Jin tucked her fingers into her long sleeves, leaving her knuckles uncovered.
"Father has dispersed all the people who serve you to other courtyards. These are new people. If any of them treat you disrespectfully, you can come and tell me. This person is mine. She is very skilled and can protect you."
"Do I dare to use your men?" Mu Jin had been running for a long time at night and was extremely thirsty, but he did not want to show his bruises in front of Chai Che, as that would make him lose face.
"I gave it to you, and from now on it's yours."
"She knows all my sword techniques."
"Yeah?"
"Including the swordsmanship you used to defeat me?"
He said seriously, "Yes, I have taught her all the sword techniques I have learned so far. She is very talented and learns quickly."
Mu Jin frowned. He was not talented, but there was no need to point fingers at him and humiliate him. "A hundred times better than me?"
Chai Che didn't give an answer, and Mu Jin didn't ask any further questions.
