Make a wish

Make a wish

As dusk deepened and a chill accompanied the wind, Liu Xirou shivered, greeted Wen Yan, and went into her tent to rest.

On the other side, Su Jibai and Long Chen set up their tent and sat outside to rest.

Seeing that it was almost time, Wen Yan gave Su Jibai a wink.

Su Jibai understood and stood up: "Wenyan wants to have a barbecue, so I'll go with him to the woods to collect some branches."

Long Chen: "I'll go with you."

Su Jibai pressed down on his shoulder, "You should stay here. It's not safe for Liu Xirou to stay here alone."

Long Chen's gaze drifted towards the tent. "Okay."

Wen Yan told Liu Xirou that they were going to collect tree branches for fuel. Liu Xirou poked her head out of the tent and said, "Don't go too far, or your cell phone will lose signal."

OK, bye-bye~

Su Jibai walked over, and the two got closer and closer until they were stuck together.

Bored, Long Chen brushed aside the withered grass on the ground. Yesterday, Su Jibai suddenly suggested that they go see the meteor shower the next day to clear their minds. Long Chen had been feeling down these past few days and wanted to go out for a walk, so he agreed.

Before leaving, seeing that it was just the two of them, he asked, "Aren't you going to call Wenyan?"

Su Jibai smiled enigmatically, "He has something to do."

Upon reaching the mountain, he saw the familiar figure he had longed for day and night, and he thought to himself, "Just as I thought."

This camping trip to watch the meteor shower was prepared for him and Liu Xirou.

His leg suddenly went numb. He got up and shook his leg, but accidentally stepped on a soft patch of mud and fell down.

Long Chen cursed, "Damn it!"

Hearing the loud noise outside, Liu Xirou mistook Long Chen's cursing for a cry of pain and quickly came out of the tent, asking anxiously, "What's wrong?"

Long Chen was still sitting on the ground when he heard Liu Xirou's concerned words. He turned around and showed a happy smile. "I'm fine. Xirou, you finally paid attention to me."

Liu Xirou stood rooted to the spot, completely bewildered, and said, "I haven't been ignoring you... You haven't spoken to me at all these past few days."

Long Chen hurriedly stood up, but his foot slipped again, and he fell directly into the pile of dry grass he had pulled up.

"Hey! Watch out!" Liu Xirou ran forward, carefully skirted the slippery ground, helped him up, and pushed the folding chair. "You should sit here."

Feeling the long-lost warmth on his arm, Long Chen was both nervous and excited, and quickly said, "You sit, you sit, I'll stand."

Liu Xirou chuckled, "Isn't there another table next to us? Let's sit together."

The two sat together. Liu Xirou looked up at the bright moon and sparse stars in the sky. Long Chen turned to look at her, and after considering for a moment, he said, "Xirou, I'm sorry. I put you in such a dangerous situation, and I was powerless to help you."

He lowered his head, his voice hoarse, "I shouldn't have confessed to you back then. I knew from a very young age that my father would arrange a marriage for me. I fantasized about changing him, but he used me as a tool and didn't care about my opinion at all. It was my selfishness that ruined you all. I'm sorry."

“I know about what happened to your parents. I’ve already spoken to Mingyi University and the nutrition institution, and they won’t do anything to your parents anymore.”

Liu Xirou turned around, her eyes glistening with tears, and said in a very soft voice, "I thought you misunderstood me and Ji Huaixuan, that's why you were ignoring me... So that's what you were thinking."

Long Chen nervously grasped her hand. "How could that be? I was afraid you'd think I was useless, that's why I didn't dare talk to you..."

The wind was strong on the mountain at night, making it difficult to even start a fire, let alone have a barbecue.

Wen Yan and Su Jibai didn't intend to go into the woods to collect branches; they just wandered around the area for a bit before heading back later.

Their hands were intertwined, their fingers clasped tightly together, radiating warmth.

Wenyan found a relatively flat, large rock, and the two sat down.

"It's eight o'clock now. Will we be able to see the meteor shower at eleven?" Wen Yan gazed at the night sky, his eyes shining brightly. He was extremely looking forward to the meteor shower.

Su Jibai kissed his eyes. "Yes, we will. We'll wait patiently, and we'll see it eventually."

Wen Yan couldn't help but blink, leaning against him, her voice muffled, "The system said the next mission will be difficult and dangerous. I handled the previous missions with ease, but after the plot was ruined, I feel increasingly powerless to complete the missions."

Su Jibai's eyes were extremely gentle. "It's okay, I'll always be with you. You're amazing, you've completed so many missions. No matter how difficult the mission is, I believe you can complete them all."

Wen Yan's heart stirred. She got up from his embrace and looked into his tender eyes. "Do you want to know what reward the system will give me after I complete all the tasks?"

Su Jibai felt uneasy. "What reward?"

Wenyan teased him deliberately, "I will go back to my original world."

A roar echoed in Su Jibai's mind, his words reverberating like a fishbone stuck in his throat, leaving him unable to utter a sound for a long time.

He felt extremely bitter, but finally said, "You must be better off living in your original world than here, right?"

Su Jibai's eyes were glistening with tears, and his voice was slightly hoarse. Wen Yan realized she had gone too far and quickly said, "No, no, I'm happiest living here. I don't want to go back. I want to stay here after the mission is over..."

Before she could finish speaking, Wenyan was kissed.

Su Jibai held the back of his head, this time the kiss was urgent and domineering, as if he wanted to devour him, but slowly it turned into a gentle licking kiss.

After the deep kiss, Wen Yan realized that he was sitting in Su Jibai's lap. He felt a little embarrassed and wanted to sit back on the rock.

Su Jibai wouldn't let go, hugging him tightly and burying her head on his shoulder.

Wen Yan: "I was just teasing you. I really didn't want to go back."

“I know,” Su Jibai said in a muffled voice, “you’ve successfully amused me.”

Wen Yan couldn't help but laugh.

Seeing how happy he was, Su Jibai became even angrier and kissed him again.

The mountain wind was fierce, bending a bunch of trees. The two men symbolically hugged some branches and walked back to the campsite against the cold wind.

Lights were hung on several tents, allowing a clear view of everything nearby, including the backs of Liu Xirou and Long Chen pressed together.

Wen Yan deliberately stepped on the dead tree under his feet, making a sound to let them know that he and Su Jibai had returned.

Liu Xirou hadn't been close to Long Chen for so long that she felt a little awkward and hurriedly got up, saying, "You're back."

"Are you going to have a barbecue?" Liu Xirou was about to go get the barbecue grill.

Wen Yan shook her head. "The wind is too strong; it's not good to start a fire. Let's just eat some fast food."

Dragging out a large bag of things, Liu Xirou picked out some instant food, tore open the packaging, and held it with both hands to prevent it from being blown away by the wind. Wen Yan carried the thermos and poured in hot water.

Su Jibai and Long Chen laid out a picnic blanket on the ground and secured it with nails.

The group sat together, enjoying the aroma wafting from the box—a long-lost sense of relaxation.

Wen Yan glanced at the spicy chicken rice in his hand. He didn't like chicken. He then set his sights on the potato and beef brisket in Su Jibai's hand. "I want yours."

"Okay." Su Jibai opened the lid to let the steam out, to prevent being burned.

Wen Yan mixed the potato and beef brisket, took a bite, and found the taste to be just average. He then took a spoonful of Su Jibai's rice and ate it, feeling that it tasted a little better than his.

Su Jibai handed it to him, "Want to change it?"

Wen Yan hesitated for a moment, then decided it was probably just his imagination. They were all from the same brand, so the taste should be pretty much the same, especially since it was chicken that he didn't like.

"No." Wen Yan lowered his head and continued eating his meal.

Liu Xirou wasn't very hungry, so she made herself a bowl of porridge. Wisps of steam rose from the surface of the porridge, which had a salty and fragrant aroma.

Looking at the bland porridge, Long Chen said, "How can you eat so little?" He picked up a few pieces of meat and put them into the porridge.

Liu Xirou smiled helplessly and pointed to the large bag, "You can also eat snacks here."

Long Chen pretended not to hear and continued to serve meat to Liu Xirou.

Liu Xirou had no choice but to pick up the porridge and drink it all in one gulp.

"Hiss!" The porridge was too hot, and Liu Xirou spat it out.

Long Chen fetched paper and water, asking, "Are you burned?"

Liu Xirou took a mouthful of water and couldn't speak for the moment, so she waved her hand.

"Are you alright?" Wen Yan handed her an empty box.

Liu Xirou spat out the water and breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm fine now."

Long Chen said regretfully, "It's all my fault..."

Liu Xirou covered his mouth, "Okay, let's eat, I'm really fine now."

Liu Xirou thought they were already being affectionate enough, so she shyly glanced at Wen Yan and the others out of the corner of her eye.

However, Wen Yan and Su Jibai were even more affectionate than them.

Wen Yan ate very slowly; the food was almost cold, and she hadn't even eaten half of it.

Su Jibai then fed him his own food, spoonful by spoonful, and Wen Yan's expression remained perfectly natural.

Liu Xirou shifted her gaze back, feeling much better.

After finishing her meal, Wen Yan felt even less inclined to move and lay on Su Jibai's lap, looking at the stars.

The driver rushed over, holding his phone, and said, "Young Master, the Eldest Young Master wants you to return the call."

Wen Yan checked his phone and found more than a dozen missed calls. He hurriedly got up and ran more than ten meters away before calling Wen Ling back.

He asked cautiously, "Brother? Have you eaten?"

"I bet you only called me back after you'd eaten your fill, right?" Wen Ling's angry voice came through the phone, and Wen Yan thought to herself that she was in deep trouble.

Wen Yan said ingratiatingly, "I'm sorry, I didn't check my phone just now. I'm camping here now, and you know all the people there: Su Jibai, Liu Xirou, and Long Chen."

"I will definitely give advance notice next time. I'm really done with work today."

Wen Ling was furious. "You dare to do it again!"

Wen Yan said in a humble voice, "I won't dare to, I won't dare to. I'll go home first thing tomorrow morning. There's a driver watching over me, isn't there?"

Wen Ling calmed down a little. "From now on, you must be home before eight o'clock and you are not allowed to go out anymore."

Wen Yan cried out, "Brother!"

The call was abruptly ended. Wen Yan returned dejectedly, only to see Su Jibai standing quietly not far away.

Wen Yan walked over and threw herself into his arms, "This is terrible, I'll have a curfew from now on."

Su Jibai hugged him and comforted him, "I'll secretly visit you in the future."

Wen Yan chuckled, "Last time, my brother saw us doing that in the garden. Aren't you afraid he'll beat you up if you go to my house?"

Su Jibai smiled. "Then do you want to elope with me?"

“No way,” Wenyan punched him lightly, “I can’t bear to run away from home.”

Liu Xirou suddenly shouted from afar, "Ayan, it's a meteor shower!"

Wen Yan suddenly raised her head. In the night sky, countless silver streaks of light flashed, leaving behind pale tails.

He excitedly pulled Su Jibai and ran towards the camp, laughing joyfully, "I finally saw a shooting star!"

In the dark blue night sky, first one or two silver streaks flashed by, disappearing and then attracting thousands upon thousands of long and bright streaks, as bright as fireworks, as dazzling and magnificent as crystal.

The four of them bowed their heads and made a wish without prior arrangement.

Wenyan clenched her fists together, saying, "I only hope that we can all be safe and healthy."

After a spectacular meteor shower, Wen Yan turned to look at Su Jibai, "What did you wish for?"

A glint seemed to shine in Su Jibai's eyes, making him exceptionally charming. "I want us to be together forever."
