The big boss appears

The big boss appears

Wenling was working overtime and wouldn't be going home today, and her study was usually unlocked. With no one around, Wenyan quietly slipped into the study, without even turning on the light.

Following the principle that important documents from movies, TV dramas, or novels must be placed on the desk, Wen Yan closed the door, turned on her flashlight, and headed straight for the desk.

Sure enough, several neatly arranged documents were stacked on the table.

Just in case he was discovered, Wen Yan wore gloves. He opened the top file, which contained Ji Weixuan's information, including his family background and experiences from childhood to adulthood.

It turns out that Ji Weixuan's parents divorced when he was young, and he and his father went to live abroad. They would only bring Ji Weixuan back to China to visit relatives during the Spring Festival.

Ji Weixuan returned to China in early September this year and established a bodyguard company a few days later.

Ji Weixuan grew up abroad, and there is very little information available about him; only a few lines summarize his outstanding childhood.

The information was similar to what Su Jibai had learned; there was nothing new.

Upon opening the second document, Wen Yan was surprised to see the ID photo on it; it was actually Liu Xirou's information!

Why did Ling investigate Liu Xirou?

He glanced at them briefly; they were all photos of Liu Xirou working part-time. The last photo showed Liu Xirou working as a waitress in a Western restaurant.

Wen Yan returned to her room, her mind in turmoil. She had to consider both the horse farm and the cruise ship party, and Ji Weixuan had appeared at both events. What exactly was he planning to do?

Is there a relationship between Ji Weixuan and Liu Xirou?

Wen Ling would never investigate Liu Xirou without a reason; there must be some connection between them.

He wondered how Su Jibai was doing, so he opened his phone and sent him a message.

Wenyan: Have you made any discoveries?

Su Jibai: Ji Weixuan's father is a member of the mafia in Country Y. In recent years, Ji Weixuan has gradually whitewashed the mafia into a mercenary company, and his father is the nominal boss.

Question: Is the bodyguard company he runs in China involved in organized crime?

Su Jibai: No, but ten of them came from country Y.

These ten people were probably all from the Mafia. Wen Yan frowned. What deep-seated grudge did Ji Weixuan have against him that made him go to such lengths to deal with him?

Wenyan: Have I offended him before?

Su Jibai: No, you've only met a few times.

With the trail gone cold, Wen Yan was at his wits' end. Recalling the photo of Liu Xirou working at the Western restaurant, he decided to try his luck there tomorrow.

Before coming, he specifically asked Liu Xirou about her schedule for the day to avoid making a wasted trip. Upon learning that she was currently at the Western restaurant, Wen Yan quickly set off.

The Western restaurant has an elegant ambiance, with wooden screens separating the plain white round tables, and a few fresh flowers on the tables looking vibrant and beautiful.

Wen Yan pushed open the door and entered. A waiter immediately came to greet him and guide him to his seat. Wen Yan looked left and right and caught sight of a familiar profile. He plopped down at the table diagonally behind the man.

The waiter smiled and asked, "Sir, how many people are dining in your party?"

Wen Yan stared at the man's profile and said casually, "One."

The waiter smiled awkwardly: "I'm sorry, sir, we're very busy right now. This long table is for four or more guests."

Wen Yan thought for a moment, "Can I sit here if I order a meal for four?"

Waiter: "Yes, that's fine."

"It's good to be rich," Wen Yan said, as she ordered four meals.

At noon, the number of diners surged, and the waiters at the Western restaurant came out from the kitchen to greet the guests. Liu Xirou, dressed in a simple black uniform, walked to the door to greet the guests with a smile.

The simple clothes made Liu Xirou look even more innocent and pure, and her face, without any makeup, was like a lotus emerging from clear water.

From the moment Liu Xirou came out, the man's gaze followed her figure, and a smile appeared on his usually indifferent face.

The man turned his head to the side, revealing deep-set brow bones, gray-blue eyes, and the Patek Philippe with a black strap and blue dial on his wrist that identified him as Ji Weixuan.

How did these two people meet?

Liu Xirou had only been in S City for a year, and Ji Weixuan had only spent a handful of days in China. Wen Yan really couldn't have imagined the opportunity for them to meet.

With fewer customers, Liu Xirou began clearing the tableware from the table. She looked up and happened to see Wen Yan. Her smile became even brighter, and she raised her hand slightly to give Wen Yan a silent greeting.

Wen Yan smiled and waved at her.

Ji Weixuan noticed the change in Liu Xirou's expression, followed her gaze and turned to look at her. When he saw it was Wen Yan, his smile disappeared and a fierce glint flashed in his eyes.

Wen Yan felt a chill run down her spine, but maintained a smile on her face.

Liu Xirou took the tableware back to the kitchen, and Ji Weixuan immediately got up and sat down in front of her, smiling and saying, "It's Wenyan, long time no see."

Ji Weixuan's fake smile gave Wen Yan goosebumps. He said it had been a long time since they last met, but he must have been keeping a close eye on him behind the scenes.

Wen Yan smiled and said, "Brother Wei Xuan, what a coincidence! I never expected you to stay in China for so long."

Ji Weixuan relaxed and leaned back in his chair. "I'm not leaving. It's still home here that makes me feel at home."

Wen Yan was not surprised to hear him say that. Since Ji Weixuan had established a bodyguard company in China, he was naturally going to set up shop in China and cause trouble.

Wen Yan tentatively asked, "Is Brother Weixuan getting married?"

Ji Weixuan clasped his hands together and smiled meaningfully, "This is my home, why would I need another home?"

Wen Yan stopped asking questions. Ji Weixuan was very discreet, and asking further would only arouse his suspicion and make him target Wen Yan even more behind her back.

Even after Ji Weixuan left, Wen Yan still felt a chill run down her spine.

He is now 100% certain that Su Jibai's scenes were taken away by Ji Weixuan.

The feigned politeness with Ji Weixuan had exhausted Wen Yan, and he ate a two-person portion of Western food in one go. When Liu Xirou came over, he was still engrossed in eating.

"Ayan, what brings you here?"

When Wen Yan looked up, he saw that Liu Xirou had finished get off work, changed back into her everyday clothes, and was sitting next to him.

He swallowed the food in his mouth. "I didn't know where to eat, and since you work part-time here, I figured this restaurant must be good, so I came."

Wen Yan pointed to the two Western dishes next to her, "You haven't eaten yet, have you? Let's eat together."

"Okay." Liu Xirou heard Sister Liu say in the kitchen that someone had ordered four meals at once, and she never expected it would be Wen Yan.

Liu Xirou asked, "Why did you order so much?"

Wen Yan smiled sheepishly, "I wanted to try a little of everything, but I didn't expect this restaurant to be so generous, giving so much."

He looked the Western restaurant up and down. The decor was nice, but the ambiance wasn't great. Several customers were talking loudly, but no one seemed to mind. It was nothing special, not exactly high-end. The places where Liu Xirou had worked part-time were also very affordable, while Ji Weixuan exuded an air of sophistication and class. Surely they couldn't have met on the street?

Wen Yan stirred the soup with a spoon and said casually, "I just ran into someone I know."

"Is this Mr. Ji?" Liu Xirou had also seen Ji Weixuan at the cruise party. Given the family's wealth and influence, it wasn't surprising that Yan knew Ji Weixuan.

"Are you talking about Brother Weixuan?" Wenyan feigned surprise. "I really didn't expect you two to know each other."

“Wei Xuan rarely returns to China,” Wen Yan observed Liu Xirou’s expression, “but he said he will stay in China to live from now on.”

Liu Xirou remained calm. "We met two months ago at this Western restaurant. Mr. Ji had told me before that he wanted to stay in China, but I thought he was joking."

Wen Yan's lips twitched. So this is where they met. He glanced at the middle-aged man next to him who was loudly bragging. Don't domineering CEOs usually prefer quiet environments?

Wen Yan asked mysteriously, "I guess Brother Weixuan is staying in China to settle down. Do you know if he has a girlfriend?"

Liu Xirou thought for a moment, "I haven't heard him mention it, but it seems like he has someone he likes. I wonder who it is."

Wen Yan swirled her wine glass. "Far away yet so close." The person he likes is definitely you!

Liu Xirou was taken aback and did not answer.

When I got home, I saw Ling looking travel-worn, pulling a suitcase and about to leave again.

Wen Yan saw him to the door. "Brother, are you going on a business trip?" The suitcase was very large, the kind you'd only bring for a long trip.

"Hmm." Wenling patted Wenyan's head. "I have to go out of town for work. Dad will be back tomorrow. You stay home and be a good boy/girl and don't go out too much."

Wen Yan: "Oh."

Wen Ling is going on a business trip and will definitely not have time to investigate Ji Weixuan. Wen Yan should be happy that he doesn't have to find a reason to stop Wen Ling from investigating, but for some reason, he feels uneasy watching Wen Ling's departing figure.

Will Dad be back tomorrow?

Wen Jia is busy managing businesses in other places, so how could she easily go home? Besides, Wen Ling has only been in charge of the company for a short time and is not very experienced. Why would Wen Jia entrust Wen Ling with the complicated affairs in other places?

Something is very, very wrong.

Wen Yan looked at the butler who was trimming the flowers and plants, "Uncle An, where did my brother go on a business trip?"

Butler An paused, "They went to City A, didn't they?"

Wen Yan sent a message to Su Jibai.

Wenyan: Could you please check my brother's flight information for me?

A few minutes later, Su Jibai replied: Flight at 5 PM, to Country Y.

Wen Yan's heart sank, and she gripped the glass in her hand tightly, her fingertips turning white.
