Chapter 22

Chapter 22

The next day, Xu Wang went to school as usual.

He, who rarely used fountain pens before, picked one up and used it for the first time ever.

Seeing this, Lu Yang couldn't help but come over and tease him, saying, "Brother Xu, why have you suddenly started using a fountain pen? Did your girlfriend give it to you?"

Xu Wang was diligently writing his Chinese homework, each stroke more carefully than ever before, when he was suddenly interrupted by Lu Yang, who even almost wrote a wrong character. A hint of annoyance flashed in Xu Wang's eyes, and he pushed Lu Yang's head aside, saying impatiently, "Go away."

Lu Yang chuckled, watching Xu Wang's serious expression. After a long while, he took out a milk from his bag and slowly said while drinking it, "I know even if you don't say it. It must have been given by that person. Who else could make you this happy besides her?"

Upon hearing his words, Xu Wang lowered his eyes and remained silent.

Although he really didn't want to admit it, he did know that he had indeed fallen in love with Jiang Yi.

This woman, who could very well ruin his brother's life, didn't reciprocate his brother's feelings, but he fell for her.

Harming your brother is no different from harming yourself, is it?

I should stay away from her and not give her any chance to bring harm to their family. I can't let her have any opportunity...

But the thought of that possibility made Xu Wang feel an indescribable discomfort in his heart.

He was a little reluctant to part with it.

I can't bear to let her go, I can't bear to give up...

As he wrote, his eyes darkened.

Thinking that since he couldn't bear to let her leave, he might as well keep her by his side and let her torment him.

He was confident that he wouldn't be ruined by her and end up with nothing. He believed in his abilities and that he could hold onto her.

Thinking this, Xu Wang gave a cryptic laugh, then lowered his head and continued writing.

When Yu Zhe arrived at school, he saw Xu Wang doing his homework with his head down. The fountain pen that Yu Zhe had recommended to Jiang Yi yesterday was in Xu Wang's hand. Yu Zhe's gaze fell on the fountain pen in Xu Wang's hand, and a few indescribable complex emotions flashed in his eyes. Although Jiang Yi had said at the beginning that the fountain pen was for a boy, he still felt a little uncomfortable when he actually saw him giving it to a boy.

Although they were not at the right age to think about relationships, the thought of her living under the same roof as Xu Wang, and Xu Wang having the advantage of proximity, gave him an indescribable feeling.

However, he had already observed the interaction between the two. At school, Jiang Yi and Xu Wang didn't have much contact. Even when they did, Jiang Yi was often impatient.

At least for now, Jiang Yi doesn't seem to like Xu Wang at all.

She didn't like Xu Wang, so she had a chance.

Thinking this way, Yu Zhe felt much happier. He put down his schoolbag, picked up his book, and began to preview the material.

Xu Wang could naturally sense that Yu Zhe had been looking him up and down. The boy's gaze held a mixture of indescribable jealousy and envy, as well as other emotions.

Xu Wang was naturally sensitive and could sense his hostility.

But it doesn't matter. He's always been able to get what he wants easily. They're not at the age to date yet, so Jiang Yi can take her time.

However, after fully understanding his own feelings, Xu Wang still took action.

For example, on the night when it was Jiang Yi's turn to be on duty, Xu Wang also stayed behind.

Of course, Yu Zhe also stayed.

Yu Zhe felt a much stronger sense of crisis. After all, Xu Wang and Jiang Yi met every day. If he couldn't win Jiang Yi's favor, he would eventually lose to Xu Wang.

So when Jiang Yi was on duty, he also helped stay behind to do the work.

Jiang Yi felt a little embarrassed when she saw that the class monitor had come to help her, and said, "Um, I can do it myself."

Seeing her polite demeanor, Yu Zhe felt helpless and could only say, "I happen to be free tonight. I would have helped other classmates too, so don't overthink it."

Jiang Yi didn't think too much about it at all.

As the class monitor, Yu Zhe had a high level of prestige in the class, and he was always willing to help others. Even if he helped her, she wouldn't think about it in any other way. After all, they were still students, and with the college entrance examination just a year away, she was even less likely to think about such things.

Jiang Yi wanted to refuse his help, but couldn't persuade him otherwise, so she could only let him have his way.

Tonight, she felt things were really chaotic, because not only did Yu Zhe inexplicably help her, but Xu Wang, who usually left early, also suddenly stayed to help her.

Yu Zhe, who was usually mild-mannered, couldn't help but make a sarcastic remark when he saw that Xu Wang had also come to help. He said, "Xu, your leg is not good. You can't help much by staying here. You might even hurt yourself. You should go back as soon as possible."

The implication is that Xu Wang is not only unable to help here, but may even be in the way.

Although Jiang Yi also felt that what the class monitor said was unpleasant, it was also reasonable. Xu Wang's leg was inconvenient, so it was better not to cause trouble.

She then said, "Um, Xu Wang, you should go back. We don't need your help here."

Xu Wang gave Yu Zhe a cold look, then called out to Lu Yang behind him.

Upon hearing Xu Wang's call, Lu Yang immediately fawned, "Brother Xu, I'm here."

With a wink from Xu Wang, Lu Yang immediately summoned his brothers, and a group of them grabbed brooms and rushed to help, taking over all the work that originally belonged to Jiang Yi. She barely swept anything before it was all over.

After they left, on the way back, Jiang Yi thought about the grand spectacle of the evening and, for some reason, felt a little angry. She said to Xu Wang, "Xu Wang, don't do that again."

Xu Wang hadn't expected that her disdain for him after he helped her, and her expression was somewhat unpleasant. She said, "What's wrong? What's wrong with me helping you?"

Jiang Yi thought for a moment about what made her unhappy and said, "You're making too much of a show of force. I think it's quite troublesome."

Xu Wang's temper flared up, and he said coldly, "So, you can easily accept Yu Zhe helping you? But you can't accept me helping you?"

Jiang Yi felt he was being unreasonable and said with a hint of displeasure, "I'm telling you not to do this again. Why are you criticizing others? Xu Wang, don't be unreasonable."

Xu Wang felt very unhappy listening to her words, but he was afraid that what he said was too hurtful, so he could only shut his mouth, feeling a little depressed.

The argument between the two was somewhat inexplicable, and their subsequent cold war was also somewhat inexplicable. When there was something to discuss, they would occasionally exchange a few words, but when there was nothing to discuss, they would not say anything to each other. This continued until after the college entrance examination.
