Chapter 40

Chapter 40

Preparing for a wedding is a huge undertaking.

After all, marriage is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and the two of them are the kind of people who either do nothing or do things perfectly, so their wedding was more complicated than others.

The first thing is to take wedding photos.

Jiang Yi was very busy with work when taking wedding photos, so she had to juggle work and wedding arrangements at the same time.

So, when it came time for their wedding photos, the two of them were too busy with work to coordinate their schedules. When they finally managed to find a time that worked out, it turned out to be a rainy day.

The time had to be postponed again, and it was delayed for another month before they finally had time to take their wedding photos.

On the day of the wedding photo shoot, the two of them had a very intense argument the night before, so they woke up a little late. When she got up, Jiang Yi checked her neck and was relieved to see that there were no marks.

Xu Wang stood shirtless behind her, watching her carefully examine her shoulders. He found it amusing and said, "I already said there's nothing there, but you still don't believe me."

Jiang Yi turned around, glared at him fiercely, and said, "It's all your fault. If it weren't for you..."

Xu Wang took a step forward, pinning her against the dressing table, his eyes slightly narrowed, and asked, "What's it to your fault?"

Jiang Yi was afraid he would do something reckless, so she pushed him back and said, "We're going out later, so don't do anything reckless."

Xu Wang didn't really intend to do anything. Hearing her words, he didn't care at all and said, "Why would I do anything reckless? Besides, even if it's late, we can do it another day."

"Some other time, some other time, do you have time?"

Xu Wang: "At worst, I'll just take a day off."

He actually had plenty of time, but Jiang Yi didn't. She was too busy with work, so busy that they didn't even have time for dates. Xu Wang was still dissatisfied with this, but there was nothing he could do. After all, his future wife loved her work and only had work on her mind. What could he do?

She believed that loving her work was better than having feelings for other men, at least that's how Xu Wang comforted herself.

Jiang Yi didn't want to delay any longer, since things would be even busier from now on. So when Xu Wang said that, she rolled her eyes at him, then went to change her clothes and went out.

When they went out, Xu Wang drove her to have breakfast first, and then they went to the agreed-upon studio.

The location had already been chosen. After a brief discussion with them, Xu Wang took Jiang Yi to get her makeup done, and then they went to the designated filming location.

Of course, the process of taking wedding photos was not smooth sailing, and many unexpected things happened along the way.

For example, their movements and postures were not quite right, or their makeup was a bit smudged, and so on. Because of all sorts of small problems, it took a very long time to fix them.

After filming this set, they went to film the next set, and then another problem arose.

Because of various unexpected events, both of them were exhausted after finishing their work in the evening. Jiang Yi went home after dinner and collapsed immediately.

Xu Wang's makeup wasn't as complicated today, and he was indeed in better physical condition than her, so he regained his energy after sitting for a while. When he saw her lying down, a smile appeared on his lips. He then pulled her close, reached out, and massaged her shoulders, saying, "Let me rub them for you."

Jiang Yi then closed her eyes, leaned on his shoulder, and let him massage her.

The man's shoulder massage was neither too light nor too heavy, and it felt quite comfortable. Jiang Yi nestled against his warm chest, enjoying his care, and soon fell asleep.

Xu Wang saw her sleeping, a gentle smile on his lips, and then he picked her up and carried her back to the room.

The wedding photos were ready a few days later. There were several different styles: one of her sitting on a swing on the grass while he pushed her from behind; another of her as a general's daughter in a house with a Republican-era style; and a third of them in an antique style. Each frame was beautiful, and Jiang Yi loved them so much that she couldn't put them down. She was pondering which one to hang in her home when Xu Wang saw her struggling with the decision and said with a smile, "Can't you have them all?"

Jiang Yi glanced at the walls of the room and said, "The room is covered with wedding photos. Isn't that a bit excessive?"

"You could make a small photo wall and hang it up, or you could have one in the study."

Jiang Yi thought this was a good idea and nodded, "Okay."

Then he started to ponder where to hang these paintings.

She sat on the sofa, looking down at her phone, looking very docile. Her hair was fluffy, giving her a gentle appearance.

Xu Wang looked at her and thought she looked really cute, so he reached out and ruffled her skin.

Jiang Yi was suddenly patted, and looking up at him with a puzzled expression, she asked, "What's wrong?"

Xu Wang smiled and said, "You're very cute. You're a bit like, like that..."

He glanced at the cat playing with a mouse on the ground.

Jiang Yi: "You can just say you play like a cat."

Xu Wang: "No, it's another one."

Jiang Yi: "?"

She tossed her phone aside and turned to punch Xu Wang: "You surnamed Xu, if I don't beat you to death today, I'll change my name backwards."

Even with her riding on his head, Xu Wang couldn't resist teasing her: "Is your name Yijiang?"

Jiang Yi ran over and grabbed his hair: "Call me your great-aunt."

...

The wedding was held at the end of the year, when everyone was on holiday.

The night before her wedding, Jiang Yi was dragged out by a group of friends to have a bachelorette party. After the party, everyone told Jiang Yi not to go home that night, and Jiang Yi agreed. She had just talked to Xu Wang for a while when Xu Wang came to pick her up.

When everyone saw Xu Wanglai leading the girl away, they teased him, saying, "Xiao Yi only has one more night of being single. She'll be yours from now on. Why are you in such a hurry?"

Xu Wang frowned, then said, "We've registered our marriage, so strictly speaking, she's not single."

"Besides, she can come out and play with you guys in the future, but the wedding ceremony tomorrow will be tiring, so she needs to get a good rest tonight."

Everyone found Xu Wang's serious explanation amusing and continued to tease him: "It's just a ceremony, just for fun."

"That's right, let's have some fun with Xiaoyi tonight!"

"Exactly. If you're so strict now, will you be able to control our Xiaoyi completely in the future?"

In fact, everyone knows that Xu Wang is the one who's being controlled to death, so these words are just meant to tease him. After all, it's quite amusing to see him get so worked up.

Xu Wang looked at Jiang Yi, who was surrounded by a group of friends in the north, and his eyes seemed to say, "Try not coming back with me."

Jiang Yi knew that Xu Wang was thinking about how to avoid being too tired tomorrow, so after watching her friends tease him for a bit, she left with him.

After saying goodbye to her friends, there was a long way to the parking lot. At that moment, Jiang Yi's heel suddenly broke, and to make matters worse, she twisted her ankle. Fortunately, it wasn't too serious.

Seeing this, Xu Wang frowned, examined her, and asked, "Does it hurt?"

Jiang Yi shook her head: "It's nothing."

"If that doesn't work, let's postpone the wedding tomorrow."

Jiang Yi playfully punched him and said with a laugh, "It's really nothing. Besides, the invitations have already been sent out, how can we postpone them?"

"Just send a mass message."

Jiang Yi:......

"It's really nothing," she could only explain.

Then, after turning him around several times to make sure he was really alright, Xu Wang finally breathed a sigh of relief and let her step onto the flower bed next to him.

Jiang Yi: "Hmm?"

Xu Wang: "I'll carry you on my back."

Jiang Yi looked down at her feet and said, "It's nothing."

"Can't I carry it on my back?" His expression was clearly a bit sour.

Jiang Yi saw that his complexion wasn't very good, smiled, pinched his cheek, and said, "Okay, okay, it'll definitely work."

So I climbed onto his back.

Xu Wang's back was very broad, giving people a sense of security and stability. It was past midnight and the night was getting late. Jiang Yi had been having a great time with her friends and didn't feel sleepy at all, but now, she inexplicably felt a little sleepy against his back.

Remembering the blunder and the broken shoe, she suddenly said to Xu Wang, "Xu Wang."

"Um."

There's a custom in my hometown.

"What?"

"If something happens on the wedding day, the marriage might not go smoothly. For example, if I break my shoe first thing in the morning, wouldn't that be considered unlucky?"

"Then we'll postpone the wedding."

Jiang Yi was just saying it casually, but she didn't expect him to say it like that, so she immediately patted him on the shoulder.

What are you doing?

Xu Wang made a very serious promise: "Jiang Yi, you will definitely be happy with me, you will definitely be very happy. I will not let you suffer any injustice. What happened last time will not happen again."

He still remembers the last time they broke up.

The fact that the two of them had separated for a month or two because they were too stubborn seemed to have become a shadow in his heart.

Jiang Yi opened her mouth, unsure of what to say. Finally, she pressed her cheek against his sculpted shoulder and softly hummed in agreement, saying, "I know."

I also believe that the two of them will get along very well.

It will definitely be very, very good.
