Chapter 5
When Anan walked over, he saw Jiang Yi sitting on the steps in front of the house eating oranges. When she saw him, Jiang Yi waved to him.
Anan hesitated for a moment, then walked over without hesitation.
The young master only told her not to have contact with Jixiang, but he didn't say that he was not allowed to have contact with her, so he quickly went over.
The soft moonlight spilled into the garden, creating an indescribable tranquility. Looking at the girl's beautiful profile, Anan felt a surge of tenderness in his heart.
A faint smile unconsciously crept onto her lips.
Jiang Yi shared half of the orange in her hand with him, rested her chin on her hand, and asked, "How is Jixiang? Are you alright?"
Anan scratched his head, unsure how to explain, and said, "Actually, nothing's wrong at all, but young master... his recent test results might not be very good, so he's a bit irritable."
Jiang Yi turned her head to look at Anan beside her, her eyelashes fluttering slightly, and asked, "Were his recent test results very bad?"
Anan nodded and said, "They say he might never be able to stand up again in his life."
Jiang Yi wondered if his leg would get better, would he stop having attacks?
So he said, "You could suggest they stop relying solely on foreign experts and look around domestically; maybe some barefoot doctor can cure it."
Anan actually wanted to say that if foreign doctors couldn't cure it, domestic doctors might not be able to either, but looking at the girl's bright eyes, he felt that what she said didn't seem like a lie.
He asked, "You're from the countryside, do you know any doctors?"
Jiang Yi tried to recall the doctor's name from the novel, but still couldn't remember it. She sighed and said, "I do know a doctor, but I don't quite remember his name."
That doctor seems to be... right... I think the housekeeper knows him.
However, the housekeeper resigned due to family matters, so it took several years before the doctor was introduced to them.
By then, the Xu family had already encountered trouble.
Jiang Yi told Anan about it, and Anan thought it was worth a try, so the two of them went to ask the housekeeper together.
The butler, Zhongshu, was tidying up in the back warehouse when he heard the two children talking. He was silent for a moment before saying, "I do know someone who treats legs. He's very famous, surnamed Zhang. He's an old traditional Chinese medicine doctor. He did study at medical school before, but... is it reliable for him to treat the young master's legs?"
Jiang Yi slapped her forehead and said, "That person's name is Zhang Jingyi, right? He used to study at a medical university in C City. Although he's not very famous, he's well-known locally. Since seeing internationally renowned doctors isn't working, why not try finding some doctors with good reputations? Maybe a miracle will happen?"
“We used to have many local doctors in the countryside who could cure some difficult and complicated diseases that big hospitals couldn’t. Moreover, Dr. Zhang Jingyi is a graduate of medical school. It is said that he returned to the town to become a doctor in order to repay the villagers who nurtured him.”
When the butler heard Jiang Yi's words, his mind wavered for a moment. In fact, he had originally had the same idea, but... he always felt that a family like the Xu family would not want to see those local township doctors, some of whom even thought they were frauds.
However, now all the authoritative doctors have said that there is no cure for the young master's leg, so it is not impossible to give it a try.
Uncle Zhong felt a little excited and, without thinking of anything else, hurriedly went to find the doctor.
Xu Heng is still contacting authoritative doctors for his son's leg. Although he has already consulted many famous doctors, they all say that he may never be able to stand up again. But he still wants to try, to see if there is any possibility.
Meanwhile, Fu Zhaoya sat beside her, covering her face in pain.
My son has been seen by so many doctors, far too many. Now, all the well-known doctors in the industry know that my son will not be able to stand up. Many famous doctors simply don't want to take on the case, since more professional doctors have already examined him and there is no hope at all.
Fu Zhaoya may appear glamorous on the surface, but in reality, she often secretly sheds tears in the middle of the night because of her youngest son's leg. What can she do? What can she do to cure her poor son's leg?
When Uncle Zhong came in, the couple were sighing in the room. They felt that they had to accept that their son would be disabled in the future. But their son was so good. Would he really never be able to stand up again?
As Fu Zhaoya thought about it, she burst into tears.
Meanwhile, in Xu Wang's room, his brother was also discussing this matter with him. His brother said that he had recently met a foreign orthopedic doctor who, although not very famous, was someone he could give a try.
Xu Wang knew that his legs would never allow him to stand up again, because four years later, his brother passed away, and he himself was still unable to stand up. This might be how his life would be for the rest of his days.
Xu Wang said, "Brother, don't worry about me. How are you doing abroad? When are you coming back?"
The boy who looked somewhat like Xu Wang, but appeared more mature and refined, chuckled softly and asked, "What's wrong? Missing your brother?"
Xu Wang was no longer a high school student, so he naturally wouldn't express his longing for his brother like he used to. Hearing his brother's words, he turned his head to the side and said, "No, I just wanted to ask when you're coming back."
"One of the matches might be a little later than originally scheduled."
Xu Wang said, "Brother, could you go out and have some fun with your classmates this summer vacation and not come back?"
Xu Qing asked with a smile, "What's wrong? Don't you want to see your brother?"
"No, I just think you should go out more and see the world. What kind of life is it to stay cooped up at home all day?"
Don't come back, at least not until he's driven that wretched woman away.
He no longer has a healthy leg, and he doesn't want to lose his family at all.
Xu Qing thought that her younger brother seemed to have forgotten that when she left after the Christmas holidays, this adorable little brother had told her to come back early for summer vacation. How could he have changed so suddenly in less than a semester? Had he grown up?
"We'll see when the time comes."
Xu Qing wasn't entirely sure about the time either, so she didn't give him a definite answer.
Upon hearing his brother's words, Xu Wang instructed him, "Brother, if you come back, you must tell me, okay? You must tell me in advance."
Before hanging up, Xu Wang repeatedly reminded him of this. As Xu Qing listened to his younger brother's anxious voice on the phone, the thought of his brother growing up vanished from his mind.
Yes, he's still just a little kid.
"What? You mean, you want a doctor who's not very well-known in your area to treat Xiao Wang's leg?"
Xu Heng frowned deeply and said, "Is it reliable?"
Uncle Zhong wasn't sure either, and said in a muffled voice, "He has a good reputation locally. He's treated several difficult and complicated diseases that hospitals said they couldn't cure. Of course, sir, I can't guarantee anything, but giving it a try shouldn't be harmful."
Xu Heng didn't think it would be useful, so he frowned and remained silent, and the room was quiet for a while.
Fu Zhaoya was frantic with worry about her son's leg and immediately said, "Let's give it a try, Xu Heng. What if he can stand up? The housekeeper has worked in our family for so many years, he wouldn't lie to us."
Hearing Fu Zhaoya's words, Uncle Zhong suddenly felt a bit pressured and began to regret that he had listened to the two kids and come here to give advice. If it was useless, although the husband and wife wouldn't say anything, they might still have some complaints.
Seeing his wife say this, Xu Heng, desperate and grasping at straws, agreed.
The next day, the housekeeper drove to the countryside to ask for help.
Jiang Yi, after giving the adults advice, stopped paying attention to the matter. After all, the male protagonist's leg was said to take five years to heal. Five years is enough time for a doctor to improve his skills. What if his skills are not up to par now?
Jiang Yi touched her nose, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and went to catch the bus.
She decided not to think about it anymore. Anyway, she had already given them advice out of consideration for Aunt Fu. If God really wanted his leg to take five years to heal, that was beyond her control.
Over the next two days, Jiang Yi focused intently on her exams. On the day the exams ended, a middle-aged doctor who looked somewhat young came to her home. He was thin, very refined, and didn't seem very convincing. This doctor was Dr. Zhang Jingyi.
Jiang Yi was exhausted after two days of exams and had no energy to think about Xu Wang. She went back to her room, ate something, and then slept soundly for days.
A few days later, her test results came out.
First in the entire grade.
At this moment, Anan told her some good news: Xu Wang's legs had regained feeling.
