Chapter 23 The Divine Artifact is Obtained

"Your cultivation method is certainly different from those of the prestigious sects, but your cultivation method is faster and allows you to improve your strength more easily."

The boy in his mind kept muttering to himself, still waving his white fan, his calm and composed demeanor as if the rescue mission today had nothing to do with him.

"Keep your mind quiet. The Ghost Forest isn't as safe as we think."

Xie Zhou frowned. Although the identity of a villain was undeniable, she believed that with her moral compass, it would be difficult for her to be a villain who committed all kinds of evil.

The journey was unusually quiet.

Apart from the sound of a gentle breeze, no magical beasts were found in the Ghost Forest.

"Is this Ghost Forest acting strangely today?"

The fewer magical beasts appeared, the more panicked Xie Zhou became. This was likely the calm before the storm.

“Strangely, the life energy around you fluctuates greatly, and there is even a powerful life form right in front of you.”

As soon as the system spoke, Xie Zhou gasped, because he knew that the system would never lie about life energy.

"Directly ahead?"

Xie Zhou's eyes narrowed, and she paused, standing still as she carefully observed every blade of grass and tree around her.

Most monsters are hot-tempered and will attack humans on their own initiative. Some of them are even smart enough to slowly lure humans into their traps.

"No wonder it's so quiet around here, it turns out magical beasts are lurking all around..."

Xie Zhou bit his lip and took out a small purple sword for self-defense.

A gentle breeze brushed Xie Zhou's face, but the surroundings remained deathly silent.

"They say the best defense is a good offense. Since none of you are coming out, don't blame me!"

Xie Zhou had experience dealing with magical beasts, but her opponents were all low-level magical beasts. If she encountered a high-level magical beast, without any other help, Xie Zhou knew for sure that she might not be able to win.

Xie Zhou held his breath and walked step by step toward the bushes ahead.

The monsters inside remained completely still.

Xie Zhou made a snap decision and pushed aside the bushes to look inside.

"Come out!"

A purple sword aura swept across, neatly slicing the grass leaves where it passed.

A black, cocoon-like thing appeared before Xie Zhou's eyes.

"These fluctuations of life energy are coming from these cocoons!"

The system voice sounded again.

"Is that black thing a magical beast?"

Xie Zhou frowned.

Biological organisms spin cocoons generally to molt into a new body and evolve a new shell.

Xie Zhou looked up and saw that although the area was not dense, there were black cocoons everywhere. White circles of light moved from the bottom to the top of the black cocoons in a rhythmic motion, as if Xie Zhou was expressing the vitality of these cocoons.

"Strike while the iron is hot. If we wait for these creatures to evolve successfully, we will inevitably harm many innocent lives again."

Xie Zhou steeled his heart; although it was fraught with danger, it was necessary to give it a try.

"Hey, hey, hey, you're a villain, how could you do something like this?"

The system's questioning voice echoed in Xie Zhou's mind once again.

"I want to kill innocent people indiscriminately, and these are the targets of my indiscriminate killing!"

Xie Zhou fabricated a reason for Yi Ge's death.

"Ah, this..."

The system was speechless.

That seems to make a lot of sense.

"Hurry up, I want to kill innocent people indiscriminately, but I don't have a proper weapon. Get me a sword right now!"

Xie Zhou looked at the small purple dagger in his hand and smiled wryly.

You can't exactly use this not-so-sharp dagger to cut these cocoons, they look so sturdy.

"Where would I get a suitable weapon for you? No, no." The system glared and turned its head away, trying to avoid Xie Zhou's mental harassment.

"I've been working day and night, toiling away, just to complete the tasks assigned to me by the system..."

Xie Zhou's expression changed instantly, and he began to sob softly.

Her breathtaking beauty, coupled with her pitiful eyes, is simply too beautiful to look at!

"As a villain, I don't even have my own weapon... Waaaaaah... How am I supposed to do bad things like this... This is so hard..."

The system was stunned by Xie Zhou's actions.

It seems like it really is all its fault.

"How...how could you do this..."

The system was speechless.

Xie Zhou chuckled inwardly. This was what it meant to follow the system's path and leave the system with nowhere to go.

"Waaaaah, let me just be cannon fodder in this ghost forest. I don't even have a decent weapon. Even if I try my best, I'll definitely be eaten by these monsters soon. Waaaaah..."

Seeing that the system still wouldn't budge, Xie Zhou became even more outrageous.

"Okay, okay, fine! I'll give it to you! I'll give it to you, alright?"

The system was so angry at Xie Zhou that it gritted its teeth and gripped the white paper fan tightly.

As soon as the system finished speaking, Xie Zhou felt a strong energy fluctuation around him.

The next second, an ancient and unadorned sword lay at Xie Zhou's feet.

"This sword is named Kunwu, and it was formed from the complete spine of the eighth generation of Pangu."

For some reason, Xie Zhou sensed a hint of amusement in the system's voice, as if the sword was a trap, waiting for Xie Zhou to step into it.

"Are you sure about this dark, unremarkable thing?"

Xie Zhou squatted down and poked the sword with his finger, but there didn't seem to be anything special about it.

"Hmph, the eighth ancestor of the Pangu clan possessed extraordinary skills. When he comprehended the secret of the barrier at the top of Kunlun, he opened the spiritual knot but not the life knot. In the end, he could not control the power of the outer heavens and gathered all his spirit and vitality into his spine, which is how this sword came to be. You say it's a dark, unremarkable thing?"

The system looked at Xie Zhou with disdain, as if he were looking at an ignorant country bumpkin.

"This...this is too amazing! I didn't expect the system to be so secretive. Well then, I won't hold back!"

Although Xie Zhou didn't quite understand the long message from the system, she knew that the sword in front of her was an incredibly powerful weapon.

Xie Zhou gripped the sword hilt. The Kunwu sword, which he had thought would be very heavy, was actually much lighter than he had imagined.

Only when you hold it can you realize that it is not as ordinary as it appears on the surface.

"The spirit and life of the eighth ancestor of the Pangu clan were perfectly fused with his spine under the pressure of the power of the outer heavens. This sword is already at the level of a divine artifact, okay?" The system rolled its eyes at Xie Zhou, who was so ignorant.

"Hehehe, a divine artifact, it must be incredibly powerful! Watch this!"

Xie Zhou wielded the sword and swept it out, unleashing a torrent of sword energy. With just a light swipe, a gust of wind arose all around.
