Chapter 527 The Journey

Now everyone thought highly of Wang Xinyi, and they all guessed that she was the translator arranged by the leader.

Now everyone was speaking in a foreign language, stumbling along. Wang Xinyi corrected them when they made mistakes, and the effect was quite good.

Only Zeng Zhongkang remained leaning against the wall with his eyes closed, and no one really cared. After all, they weren't familiar with him, and besides, it wasn't their business what he did.

They left the capital and arrived in L city. It was noon, and Zhang Hongmei didn't feel hungry at all. However, when the driver asked her, she agreed to stop. After all, she wasn't alone, and she had to take care of everyone.

"Shall we stop at the hotel?"

"Okay, everyone can have something hot to eat."

When the car stopped, the people behind were still eager to jump, and Zeng Zhongkang was the first to jump. He glanced at Zhang Hongmei but didn't say anything.

This was a meal for seventeen people. The restaurant didn't have enough food, so Zhang Hongmei gestured to Wang Xinyi to bring out steamed buns and some hot soup.

Cheng Guangxu handed the lunchbox to Zhang Hongmei.

"You eat, I'll just have a sip of soup, I really don't have an appetite," Zhang Hongmei shook her head and refused.

Cheng Guangxu opened the lunchbox and placed it in the middle so that everyone could have a taste. Zhang Hongmei was quite surprised by this, thinking that this talented man was completely clueless about social etiquette.

Aunt Li prepared one hundred steamed buns and fifty sugar packets. Wang Xinyi each took two steamed buns. Seeing Zhang Hongmei holding a bowl and drinking soup, she knew that Zhang Hongmei didn't want to eat anymore.

There was nothing else we could do since we were out there, so we had to do this. In the end, we found some milk powder and made her a bowl.

Zhang Hongmei did not refuse, but she secretly observed everyone and was relieved when she found nothing unusual.

We didn't arrive at the port until 8 p.m., and the passenger ship was visible even in the darkness.

Zhang Hongmei had been here before, so she knew she could board the boat directly. The people on the boat noticed them, and several people with flashlights got off.

Zhang Hongmei got off the bus and secretly stretched her back, feeling really uncomfortable.

Zeng Zhongkang went over to confirm and asked everyone to show their certificates, as people were only allowed to board the ship based on their certificates.

Everyone lined up to wait for the inspection, and no problems were found; this was the proper way to present the gifts.

There are no security checks now, so it's not complicated. Everyone helped each other carry all the luggage onto the deck.

The driver said goodbye to Zhang Hongmei and left, thus completing his mission.

After everyone boarded the ship, a man came out from inside. He was clearly a leader, and he stood on the deck holding the registration form he had just received.

"Good evening, everyone. I am the captain of this passenger ship. My name is Xiao Wanxiang. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Now, let's assign the rooms."

Zhang Hongmei was assigned a single room, which was expected. Wang Xinyi and Dong Yuping were to her right, and Cheng Guangxu and Cai Peilin were to her left. Zeng Zhongkang lived across the hall, also alone.

The remaining people formed their own groups, and the last three boys ended up living in a triple room.

Wang Xinyi followed Zhang Hongmei back to her room and helped her make her bed.

“Aunt Wang, I can do it myself. I’m much more comfortable than you are. Come on, let me help you make the bed, and then you can get some rest.”

"I don't need you, I can do it myself. Go wash up, I'll prepare some food for you, you didn't eat lunch."

"Aunt Wang, I'm really not hungry, please go and eat."

The two were talking when they heard a knock at the door. Zhang Hongmei opened the door in surprise, and there stood Captain Xiao Wanxiang.

"Captain, is there something you need?"

"Hehe, I'll treat you to dinner. I've already notified everyone."

"Thank you, Captain."

"I'll take you there. Hehe, little girl, you don't need to be so wary. I'm under Zhang Shouyi's leadership, so it's only right that I take care of my wife."

Zhang Hongmei was embarrassed. What was going on? She could only smile.

The three arrived at the restaurant, where everyone else was already there. It was like a buffet, where everyone could take whatever they wanted to eat.

Zhang Hongmei had no appetite and in the end only served herself a bowl of rice porridge and a few pickled vegetables.

Wang Xinyi said anxiously, "Hongmei, you can't do this. You'll feel uncomfortable if you don't eat."

"Aunt Wang, don't worry, I'll go get a sesame seed cake in a bit. I really don't have an appetite right now, it's not that I'm feeling unwell, so don't worry."

How can I not feel at ease?

"Really, I'll be fine tomorrow. I can never eat anything in the car when I'm out. Don't worry, I'll have a snack tonight."

After much persuasion, Wang Xinyi finally went to eat by herself. Zhang Hongmei drank a bowl of porridge and then sat down to wait for Wang Xinyi.

At this moment, Xiao Wanxiang came over and asked, "Do you not have an appetite? Or is our cooking not very good?"

"No, it's because the road was too bumpy and I had no appetite."

"Then I'm relieved. I was worried you weren't feeling well. Shall I show you to the washroom?"

"Could you wait a moment? I'd like to bring my family along."

"Okay, just call me when you need to. We can't go too fast right now, only 60 nautical miles a day. Once we get to international waters, the speed will increase. Are you feeling alright?"

"No, it feels much more comfortable than traveling by car. Now I finally understand why they don't let us travel by train but by car."

Xiao Wanxiang left with a smile; his young mistress was quite interesting. She really had a quick mind.

Zhang Hongmei observed the dozen or so people and saw that none of them seemed to be seasick, which was very good. Otherwise, they would have suffered terribly, even if they didn't die.

Zeng Zhongkang sat down next to him. "What's wrong? Not to your liking?"

"No, it's just that the car ride was uncomfortable. You finished eating so quickly?"

"Yes, I'm full. Just a few dishes, enough to fill my stomach, I'm content."

"Yeah, but this self-service approach is pretty good."

"Of course. This is our best passenger ship. Besides the dozen or so of us, there are twenty other people on board."

"So many? I didn't notice."

"You don't need to worry about these things, just get through these twenty-odd days in good health."

Zhang Hongmei thought to herself, "Do I know you that well?"

"Yes, there are still more than twenty days to go."

By this time, everyone had finished eating, and someone led them on a tour of the boat to let everyone get familiar with it, since this was not a short trip.

Xiao Wanxiang led Zhang Hongmei, Wang Xinyi, and five other girls to a washroom specially prepared for them. Everyone knew in their hearts that it was basically a toilet, but flushed with seawater.

With more than twenty days of travel still ahead at sea, no one dared to waste fresh water. What if something happened and we all got thirsty? A person can go without food for a few days, but they can't go without water for a few days.
