After the meal, Zhao Hao was accompanying Gu Chuanming for a stroll in the yard to aid digestion.
"Grandpa, do you have a letter to give to Hongmei?"
Yes, please give it to her for me.
"Grandpa, where's the boss?"
"He's inviting you to dinner tonight, you can tell him then."
Zhao Hao nodded, thinking it would be nice to see them one last time before leaving. Besides, he was willing to act as their messenger.
"Chengzi will take you out for a walk in a bit. I'm not going out today. You two just need to come pick me up around lunchtime."
"Grandpa, I want to go see the city gate tower, listen to storytelling, and see the Great Wall. Hongmei told me all of this."
"Okay, you can go with Chengzi, he knows everything."
Wang Ying left after breakfast. She hadn't been to the lingerie factory for six months. She still trusted Yu Hongxia, but felt a little embarrassed that she had just let go like that. Yu Hongxia still had work to do; she wondered how she had managed all this time.
Zhao Hao got into the car, and Chengzi took on the role of guide, starting by introducing Capital University.
"Do you want to go in and take a look?"
"May I?"
"Why don't you just ask? I think that should work."
Meanwhile, Zhang Shouyi was reading Zhang Hongmei's letter, telling her that Zhao Haozheng was preparing to leave in the next few days, and that the seasonings she wanted had all been prepared.
When Zhang Hongmei received Zhang Shouyi's letter, she felt a little more at ease. She was so looking forward to Zhao Haozheng's return that she could leave all her trivial matters to him.
I really don't want to work hard. I'm getting lazier and lazier. This comfortable life has made me lose my drive. I just want to drift along like this. But this news is something I can only keep to myself.
On his way home from school that evening, Zeng Zhongkang loaded the things he needed to send back to China, along with the money from his purse, into his car and drove towards the sea. He planned to put the money in his ring later. Sitting in the car, he stared blankly at the sea.
Half an hour passed before they finally drove back. They still needed to pick up Annie.
When they arrived at the McKenza house, Carlos was already there. "Hongmei, eat your meal before you go back. I need to talk to you about something!"
"Okay, I'll call home."
"Mom, today's soup is beef soup, it's the best I've ever had."
Zhang Hongmei smiled and patted Annie's head, then dialed the phone number at home, which was answered by Zeng Zhongkang.
"I'm staying at McCann's for dinner, don't wait for us. Okay, don't worry!"
Carlos watched as Zhang Hongmei hung up the phone. "Hongmei, what I wanted to talk about was the toy factory. Exports have increased dramatically, and the factory is struggling to keep up. I never expected something like this to happen."
"If we can't produce it all at once, we'll start limiting production from next month. I think limited editions are more likely to be sought after."
"Don't we need to build a workshop?"
"Sure, but we can't start production for at least three months. We'll limit production for those three months, and then we can have a small peak."
"Okay, I understand."
After dinner, I chatted with Beth for a while longer before taking Annie's hand and leaving.
The two talked about the baby the whole way.
"Mom, my classmates said it's embarrassing to call someone younger than you 'uncle'."
Zhang Hongmei burst out laughing when she heard Annie's complaints; the world of children is quite interesting.
"Annie, is that what you think?"
"I felt quite embarrassed after hearing what my classmates told me."
"Hehe, you'll have to solve this problem yourself. You can wait until Ningning grows up and understands before discussing it with him, okay?"
"That's true, I can make him call me 'sister'."
"Hehe, that's between the two of you."
Annie was delighted, thinking about how Ningning would grow up and call her "sister," and she giggled.
When the two returned home, Annie went straight to Wang Xinyi's room. She lay on the bed, looking at the baby, and kept muttering to herself.
Zhang Hongmei followed her in, and Wang Xinyi looked at the two little ones on the bed with amusement. "What's wrong with Annie?"
"I feel very embarrassed to have to call a child younger than myself 'uncle'."
Both of them laughed, knowing that the children would have even more fun from now on.
Annie watched as Ningning stirred. "Grandma Wang, is Ningning about to wake up?"
"Yes, he needs to pee and he needs to nurse."
"Grandma Wang, why does Ningning do nothing but eat and sleep? Doesn't she ever play with you?"
"He's still young. He'll know how to play when he grows up."
"Kids are so boring."
The two of them burst into laughter. To Annie, Ningning was definitely just a child.
Zhang Hongmei went out and brought in a basin of water. Wang Xinyi washed Ningning's bottom, changed her diaper, and then picked her up to breastfeed.
Even if you don't have enough breast milk, you should still let your child eat. If that's not enough, then supplement with formula.
Annie watched longingly from the side. Her envious expression made Zhang Hongmei feel a pang of sadness. The child had no memory of her mother at all. She rarely interacted with such young children, and of course, had never seen a baby breastfeed.
When Ningning stopped eating, she lay on the bed with her eyes open, moving her hands and feet.
Annie nestled beside him again, reaching out to hold Ningning's hand. They interacted together.
“Annie, why don’t you try talking to Ningning about the stories you read to him when he was in Grandma Wang’s belly?”
Annie nodded and began telling Ningning the story of Snow White.
Children can probably really tell the sound. They move their hands and feet even more excitedly.
“Annie, look, the baby can recognize your voice.”
"Yes, Mom! Look, Ningning seems especially happy."
"Of course. He likes you."
Laughter could be heard coming from inside the house, and the men outside seemed used to it. The baby must have woken up again.
Zhao Tiancheng was getting restless, wondering what his youngest son was doing.
The laughter inside was so joyful that Zhao Tiancheng decided to go in and take a look.
Seeing his son so lively, Zhao Tiancheng was overjoyed. His son, born in his later years, was his precious darling.
The child was young, and soon began to yawn.
"Annie, let's go out, Ningning needs to sleep."
Anne was very reluctant, turning back every few steps.
"We'll come back to play when Ningning wakes up."
When the two arrived in the living room, Cheng Guangxu immediately took Annie's hand and said, "Annie, there's a fun game here, do you want to try it?"
"Uncle Cheng, what game is it?"
"It's a crossword puzzle."
Cai Peilin rolled her eyes at Cheng Guangxu. "Annie is still so young. Besides, she's never been exposed to idioms before. How could she possibly know how to play with them?"
Cheng Guangxu scratched his head. "Yeah, I forgot about that. I doubt even Carlos would know it."
"Uncle Cheng, let's go play whack-a-mole! I love that!"
