After listening to Zhang Hongmei's introduction, Wang Ying was a little excited. She was determined to do her best to handle such an important matter.
It was almost six o'clock when the two left the study. They couldn't find their grandfather and the others ahead; something must have happened.
"Come on, let's go to the kitchen and see what we're having for dinner tonight?"
"Hehe, whatever it is, tastes better than what I make."
"So insecure? Why don't you move back in when Zeng Zhongkang goes to work?"
"Move back? Let me think about it, it sounds pretty good."
Uncle Li has brought Liu Jingsong home. The first thing the little guy does when he gets home is his homework. There isn't much homework in preschool, but this child can sit still and has almost finished reading all the picture books Zhang Hongmei bought for him. And after reading them, he can explain them to others in great detail.
“Hongmei, Jingsong is such a smart kid. Is it because your Liujiatun has good feng shui? Such a remote place has produced so many talented people.”
"Hehe, maybe that's true. Perhaps it really is just our ancestors' blessing!"
"You still hold such feudalistic ideas?"
"Of course, how could I not believe it after being subtly influenced by this kind of thinking?"
"Come on, let me introduce you to the bodyguards your grandfather and the others gave you. Do you know Lu Jing and the others?"
Wang Ying shook her head. "I don't know. We're not always together. A master and his apprentice can go wherever they want. We don't even see each other!"
"Hehe, I thought you all lived together."
Wang Ying shook her head, "I only recognize my close senior brothers and sisters. I probably wouldn't recognize the younger ones after all these years. Time flies so fast, I've been away for four years already. This year I'm going back to see my master, but he can't possibly restrict my return like he did last year, can he? I'm married now!"
The two arrived at the five-courtyard house. Zhang Hongmei actually liked it quite a bit; the pavilion was especially beautiful.
When Lu Jing and the others saw Zhang Hongmei coming, they all put down their books and came out to greet her.
"Come on, let me introduce you. This is Wang Ying. You'll have a lot of contact with her in the future, so let's get to know each other now."
The group introduced themselves to each other; perhaps some of them had a certain aura or something. Anyway, they all seemed to get along quite well.
When Zhang Shouyi returned and saw Wang Ying and the others, he simply smiled.
Zhang Shouyi was a very solitary person. He didn't like crowds, but his wife did, so he gradually accepted it. Zhang Hongmei was the only one who truly entered his heart.
After dinner, everyone sat in the living room, and several people gave their opinions on Zeng Zhongkang's upcoming reporting for duty the next day.
Zeng Zhongkang also strongly supported Wang Ying moving back in. He felt more at ease that way.
That evening, Zhang Shouyi held Zhang Hongmei in his arms, listening to his wife recount what had happened at home that day.
Now she has gotten into the habit of telling Zhang Shouyi about everything that happens every day.
"The wife service company is feasible. I have some people on my side, and this project can be used to get things done legitimately."
"Okay, I'll have Wang Ying arrange it then." Her warm breath tickled Zhang Shouyi's chest, having a slightly stimulating effect.
Zhang Shouyi was not one to compromise himself. The harmonious night continued.
Zhang Hongmei still got up groggily in the morning to see Zhang Shouyi off. She wasn't as upset as she had been a few days ago. Although things hadn't changed at night, and sometimes Zhang Shouyi even became more aggressive, Zhang Hongmei was still able to get up in the morning.
Today is Friday, and Gu Chuanming told her that he was going to see Zhou Shixiong.
Now I'm not so resistant to seeing him anymore; I just treat him like an old man. Without resentment in my heart, I can accept it calmly.
Zhang Xingguo wasn't going, but he had to go out to offer condolences today, so the three of them split up after breakfast.
"Grandpa, do you visit Zhou Shixiong every week?"
"Yes, the older we get, the more we cherish the people from the past. There are less than twenty of us still alive now. We meet almost every week. Every month, all of us go to visit Zhou Shixiong together."
"Hehe, this is good too, at least you can all get together."
The father and son whispered to each other in the back, while Chengzi and Lu Jing were in front.
When we arrived at the compound, there were already three cars parked there.
"Hehe, someone got here before us. Let's go, you've seen all of these before, do you remember them?"
"I have an impression of it, and I can probably recall its name."
"Hehe. My granddaughter is really amazing!"
The guards saw Gu Chuanming and Zhang Hongmei get out of the car and immediately greeted them.
"You didn't arrive earlier than me today, did you?"
"What good was it if you had said so earlier? Besides, who wants to compare themselves to you? How childish!"
Zhou Shixiong just chuckled and waved to Zhang Hongmei.
"Uncle, you look much better."
"Yes, I feel much more relaxed myself. I think it's because you're back that I'm happy."
"Really? That's wonderful! I'll come to see you every week when I get back from my hometown!"
"It would be great if you came every day! Hongmei, why don't you and Shouyi move in with us?"
"Uncle, I don't want to. I hate this restrictive life the most. Brother Zhang also said we should move back to the compound, but I don't want to! There are guards every three steps and sentries every five steps, I feel like I can hardly breathe."
"You! You think life outside, so free, is so great?"
"Of course! When you're not restricted, even food tastes better."
The elderly people all knew her; they recognized her as Zhang Shouyi's wife, Gu Chuanming's granddaughter, and Zhang Xingguo's son and daughter-in-law. They had all privately investigated and learned about this girl; she was exceptionally outstanding.
Zhang Hongmei greeted the three former leaders again, with exceptional politeness that was endearing.
It would be wonderful if we could take it home. But no one could compete with Zhang Shouyi. It can only be a regret for everyone.
"Hongmei, you take care of these old folks for me."
"Uncle, do you really need me, a junior, to greet you with such courtesy?"
"Hahaha, the girl is right, Lao Zhou. You've always been this cautious your whole life, which is a lie."
"Are you deliberately trying to annoy me, you old fool? That's just politeness and courtesy; you wouldn't understand even if I explained it to you!"
"You think you know everything? You just overthink things, that's why your health isn't as good as ours!"
"You don't want me to get better, do you? Can't you just keep quiet?"
"Look, I gave you advice and you still didn't listen. Honestly."
Listening to these big shots bickering is quite interesting.
Zhang Hongmei noticed that Zhou Shixiong seemed particularly happy today. She suddenly remembered that her grandfather and her older brother Zhang had both mentioned that Zhou Shixiong especially enjoyed lively gatherings. Perhaps these people knew this, which was why they had arranged to come and see him together.
"Hongmei, I want to eat your sliced soup."
"No problem, I'll make it for you in a bit. Would any of you grandfathers like some sliced soup?"
