The two elderly people and Zhang Hongmei certainly couldn't finish it all, but there were two, Shi Tou San Ya.
Just as the dishes were being served, Liu Jingze and his companion arrived.
Gu Chuanming laughed heartily, "Jingze, you two are really lucky to have such a good meal. Quickly, sit down."
Two more pounds of mutton were served, and Shi Tou finished it in no time.
Zhang Hongmei called over the manager and said, "Send someone to keep a close eye on things. If there's no mutton, get some immediately."
Zhang Hongmei only ate a small portion, giving the rest to Sanya, but she ate quite a bit of fried tofu skin and frozen tofu.
"Wyatt, what's different about the taste?"
The guy waved his hand, swallowed the mutton in his mouth, and said, "The homemade version is nowhere near as good as this. I think this sauce is delicious."
"Then you'll have to go through the trouble. I'll bring you some sauce back, but you'll have to carry it yourself."
"No problem, what's a little hard work if it's for food?"
"That's ambitious! I'll treat you to authentic Eight Bowls tomorrow. I'm sure you'll love it."
"Zhang Hongmei, why don't you let Zhao Haozheng take over my shift, and I'll stay?"
"Haha, is the temptation of delicious food that great? If it's really as you say, I reckon Zhao Haozheng would be crying. You, just come once a year. I'll have a hard time going out in the future, so you can come and see me."
“That’s really a good idea. Let Carlos stay home and work like a slave, and I’ll come visit you.”
Are you dreaming?
"How could that be? Zhang Hongmei said, 'The capable should do more work,' right?"
The atmosphere at the table was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their meal immensely.
"Jingsong, you have to do twenty push-ups when you get home tonight."
"Yes, Auntie." Jinsong ate almost a pound of mutton today.
Sanya leaned back in her chair contentedly. "Sister Hongmei, I still prefer hot pot with mutton. I'll come again tomorrow."
"Let's go eat Eight Bowls tomorrow. Why don't you ask around and see if anyone here today wants to come back tomorrow? You can come together as a group. You don't need to pay. It's all your responsibility, Brother Zhang. We're going to eat Eight Bowls tomorrow."
"I'll stay with you guys and come back to eat after we've tried everything."
Er Ya patted her and muttered softly, "You're such a big girl now, and you're still always thinking about food. There are so many people around, can't you tone it down a bit?"
"Hehe, Second Sister, I've really learned from Sister Hongmei."
Only Wyatt at the table didn't understand what they were saying, while the rest of the people at the table burst into laughter.
Liu Jingze also smiled and helped Wyatt translate.
When we got home, no one went back inside. Everyone had eaten too much, so they all chatted in the living room. Although they sometimes couldn't understand each other, they were all very happy.
Wang Ying came back and was very regretful when she found out they had gone out for hot pot, but there was nothing she could do; work was more important.
Aunt Li brought over some apples. "Hongmei, one of your classmates called, Liang Yongmin. He said he'll call back tomorrow."
"Understood, Aunt Li."
At nine o'clock, everyone went back to their rooms. Zhang Hongmei went into her spatial dimension to take a shower and then lay on her bed waiting for Zhang Shouyi.
I drifted off to sleep, but in the middle of the night, I felt a little cold. I reached out, but couldn't touch anyone.
Zhang Hongmei woke up with a start. She quickly went into her spatial dimension to get dressed, then went to the study to make a phone call.
Zhang Shouyi didn't tell me he wouldn't be back tonight. He wouldn't be late for no reason, would he?
Secretary Wu answered the phone. "Madam, the leader went to see the higher-ups. He asked me to tell you that he's fine, but he can't go back today. He didn't want to disturb your rest, so he just told me to wait for a call."
"Okay, I understand."
I went to Zhou Shixiong's place again, late at night. What could it be about?
Zhang Hongmei was restless; she had to go and see for herself.
She knocked on Gu Chuanming's door. "Grandpa, Brother Zhang hasn't come back yet. His secretary said he went to Zhou Shixiong's place. I'm worried, can you come with me to check on him?"
“Your dad and I will go.” Gu Chuanming saw that the light in Zhang Xingguo’s room was on.
"But I'm worried."
"I'm here, what are you worried about? The two of us will go. And you just stay home obediently. Don't go out unless any of the three of us calls you. Do you understand?"
"I understand. I'll be good and wait in the study."
Chengzi drove, and the two set off five minutes later.
When Zhang Hongmei returned to her study, she saw that it was already past eleven o'clock.
He paced back and forth in the study, extremely anxious.
Gu Chuanming had never spoken to him so harshly before. They must also think things weren't going well, right?
Gu Chuanming and Zhang Xingguo drove directly into the compound and stopped at the entrance.
Li Chang'en came out to greet them. "Two leaders, the leader is fine, it's Young Master Zhou who is dead."
Gu Chuanming entered the living room with a frown. Zhou Shixiong and Zhang Shouyi sat on the sofa, and no one spoke.
Zhang Shouyi glanced at the two of them and immediately stood up. "Is Hongmei alright?"
"It's nothing, I was just worried at home. Why didn't you call her to let her know?"
"Grandpa, my boss and I just sat down too."
"Go call Hongmei and tell her not to worry," Gu Chuanming said, sitting down next to Zhou Shixiong.
I feel particularly sorry for him now. A once-powerful figure, he still has to worry about the younger generation in his old age.
"Old Zhou, please accept my condolences. He was suffering just living like that."
"I know, but even if it's more painful, it's still better to be alive."
"You should be saying this to yourself."
"Come on, let me push you inside. Lie down for a while? Don't keep doing this and wear down your old bones."
Zhou Shixiong shook his head. "I can't sleep. I'm sorry to have worried you."
"How could I not worry? We'll be together for life. If I knew, how could I not be there for you?"
"Chang'en, go and tell the kitchen to cook porridge. Zhou Shixiong, you must eat."
Li Chang'en hurried to the kitchen. A moment later, he returned with a tray.
Gu Chuanming stared intently at Zhou Shixiong, only feeling relieved after watching him finish a bowl of porridge.
On the other end, Zhang Shouyi dialed the phone number in Zhang Hongmei's study.
"Wife, wife, don't worry, I was wrong, I didn't call you just now."
"Brother Zhang, what's wrong with you?"
"It's nothing, I'm really fine, it's Zhou Yuanqing who's dead."
Zhang Hongmei was finally relieved.
"Honey, Grandpa and Dad are here, don't worry about us. Go back to sleep now."
"Brother Zhang, when are you coming back?"
"I don't know yet, but let Dad go back in a bit, Grandpa and I will stay."
"Okay, I understand. Remember to eat and take care of yourself."
Zhang Hongmei returned to her room feeling dizzy. Su Chen took her pulse and said, "Zhang Hongmei, you can't worry too much. Go to sleep. Your health is the most important thing right now."
Do you want me to get you something to eat?
Zhang Hongmei shook her head, "No, I'm sleepy."
Zhang Shouyi returned to the living room and said, "Dad, you should go back. I'm worried about leaving Hongmei alone at home."
