Chapter 816 Daniel McCann

Then it was handed to Zhang Hongmei, and the child stopped crying.

Wang Xinyi also picked up the child, who also burst into tears. She handed the child to Zhang Hongmei, who immediately stopped crying.

Huang Meihua's tears streamed down her face. "You child."

"Godmother, please don't cry. It's alright. I'll take care of the child from now on. He'll be fine when he's older."

Beth watched from the sidelines, unable to believe what she was seeing. This child was so young, yet he only recognized Zhang Hongmei?

What's going on? Annie likes her, and everyone thinks they're destined for each other, but this child doesn't know anything yet. He was just born, what could he possibly know? Yet he only recognizes her.

What kind of fate is this?

Zhang Hongmei roughly understood the reason. It was probably because she had given him the spiritual spring water. This really couldn't be allowed to leak out again. This was too terrifying. Children are so sensitive to these things.

Beth patted his wife on the back. "Alright, stop crying. Isn't it a good thing that he acknowledged Hongmei?"

"Yes, it's a good thing. Both of our McKenzie kids can't live without her."

Zhang Hongmei put the child on the bed. He just lay there, and whenever Zhang Hongmei stood up to leave, he would cry. There was really no other way.

Beth stood to the side and said, "Hongmei, you've gone through all this trouble. I'll leave the child to you for now."

"No problem, godfather. Please go to the study and sit down. I'll go out as soon as the child is asleep."

"No rush. Once the child is asleep, your godmother can take care of the child."

Ten minutes later, the child fell asleep, and Zhang Hongmei went into the study.

"Hongmei, close the door. I have something to tell you."

Elizabeth died last night. The murderers were also found last night. It was Eileen and Julia; Helen knew about it too.

Zhang Hongmei was startled after hearing this. She stared at Beth in disbelief.

"We caught them both yesterday. Don't tell your godmother about this yet, I'm afraid she can't handle it."

"Godfather, where is Anne's mother?"

"It's them too. I've really failed in my life, raising such a scourge."

"Godfather, what does this have to do with you?"

Beth shook her head. "Red Plum, Annie and Daniel are in your care for now."

"Godfather, it's no problem. Senior year is for internships, so I don't have to go."

Thank you!

Zhang Hongmei felt that Bass seemed to have aged a lot.

Huang Meihua, standing outside the door, was already in tears. This is such a tragedy! How could she have raised her daughter like this?

She returned to her room in a daze, and looking at her child lying on the bed, her tears flowed even more fiercely.

Looking back on everything since Julia was born, I feel that I was an incompetent mother and failed to raise my child properly.

The baby stirred, and Huang Meihua quickly checked it; there was no urine.

She went to the bathroom to wash her face and came out. She knew Beth's personality; all three daughters would be expelled from the clan.

How could such a wicked child have been born? Huang Meihua dared not cry anymore; she knew she couldn't boast. She still had to take care of these two children. Since Beth didn't want her to know, she would pretend she didn't know.

But the thought of her three daughters made it hard to breathe. They were her own flesh and blood, and she knew they faced life imprisonment.

But no matter how much it pains me, I know I can't save them. Their mistakes are unforgivable.

Huang Meihua blinked her dry eyes when Zhang Hongmei came in. She gave an awkward smile.

Seeing this, Zhang Hongmei knew that she had overheard their conversation.

"Godmother, Godfather just passed away. There are many things to do at home. Carlos is handling Elizabeth's funeral."

"Um."

“Godmother, I’ll call the family doctor to come and take a look at you. You have to be strong now. Unless you want me to come back to China with the two children in a year.”

“Hongmei, your godmother knows, it’s this part that’s making you feel uncomfortable.” Huang Meihua patted her chest.

"Godmother, what's done is done, you can only face it."

"I'm worried. Let Zeng Zhongkang take you to the hospital to get checked out. I'll take care of the children." Zhang Hongmei said, then turned and left.

Huang Meihua couldn't persuade her otherwise, so she had to go to the hospital. Annie and Ningning were downstairs with Shen Yunfang by their side. Wang Xinyi went upstairs and taught Zhang Hongmei step by step how to change diapers, wash the baby's bottom, burp the baby, change clothes, and swaddle the baby.

"Aunt Wang, this young man's name is Daniel."

"Hehe, it's a pretty good name."

Wang Xinyi watched as Zhang Hongmei deftly prepared formula for the baby, fed the baby, and burped the baby; she did the whole process quite efficiently.

“Hongmei, why don’t you let Yunfang come up and help you? You can’t always be revolving around the child.”

"Alright, Aunt Shen has taken care of children before, so let her come up."

Daniel was particularly attached to Zhang Hongmei; he would accept her sitting next to him, but he couldn't bear for her to leave.

"You're even more troublesome than Ningning."

Carlos came over that evening and sat down to watch Zhang Hongmei take care of her son, feeling a mix of emotions.

My father told me that this child only recognizes Hongmei. I don't know how to feel.

He can't have the woman he deeply loves. But his children can't live without her. That must be fate, otherwise, I don't know how to describe it.

The child was finally placed on the bed. Zhang Hongmei sat down beside him.

"Is everything arranged?"

"Yes, the burial will take place the day after tomorrow."

"Please accept my condolences! The dead cannot be brought back to life. Those who are alive must look forward and not leave any regrets."

Carlos nodded. "I know, thank you for your hard work."

"It's alright. I'm very sorry I can't attend the funeral; please let Zeng Zhongkang go instead."

"Okay. Actually, it's fine if you don't go."

"The dead should be respected; how can we not go?"

Go check on your godmother. Her blood pressure is too high. She should go home to rest, but after what happened, I'm worried about leaving her alone at home. Let her stay here.

"I'll go check and bring my mom some clothes and supplies later!"

"No need, Aunt Wang went out and bought everything this afternoon. You don't need to worry about anything here. Just take good care of yourself."

Carlos felt a stinging pain in his eyes, quickly stood up, and left without saying a word.

Looking at his mother lying in bed, and his daughter reading to her grandmother beside her, Carlos suddenly realized that everything he had been pursuing before had been too unrealistic. Nothing was more important than his family.

"Shh! Dad, Grandma is asleep."

"Annie, Grandma's awake, it's alright. Carlos, have you gone to see the children?"

"Yes, I've seen it. Hongmei is taking good care of the child."

"Yes, thank goodness for her, otherwise, I don't know what would have happened? Now I don't trust any outsiders."
