Chapter 232 Exam

"Are you going back?"

"Of course, I'm not going to chat with you anymore, I need to go read my book."

As the exam date drew closer, Zhang Hongmei became a little nervous, mainly due to the influence of her teachers and classmates.

Zhang Hongmei runs between school and home every day in a routine manner, and she feels that time flies by. Tomorrow is the exam.

I rubbed my face. It really hasn't been easy, but I'm finally about to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

During the fourth period in the afternoon, the teacher simply held a class meeting. "Students, tomorrow is the moment of truth for you. All the hard work you've put in this year will be rewarded in the next two days. I hope you will approach this with a calm mind. Getting into university is not the greatest achievement; rather, the scenery you've seen and the people you've encountered along the way are the greatest rewards in your life."

As your homeroom teacher for the second year of high school, I am truly honored to have accompanied you through this most demanding year. Seeing you all fully immersed in your studies every day is incredibly gratifying. Being your teacher and witnessing your growth is the greatest reward of my life.

A round of enthusiastic applause erupted. Indeed, the teacher was like a strict father, urging everyone to study. No matter what difficulties they faced, the first thing they thought of was to turn to the teacher. This was not only the students taking the college entrance examination, but also the teachers experiencing the college entrance examination in person.

"Alright, I won't say any more. Everyone should get a good rest tonight and be in the best condition for tomorrow's exam."

Tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM, the first subject is Chinese, which will last for two hours. The next afternoon at 1:30 PM, Politics will last for one and a half hours. The day after tomorrow, the next morning at 8:00 AM, Math will also last for two hours. Please note that you don't need to bring your own scratch paper; the school will provide it. The next afternoon at 1:30 PM, History will also last for one and a half hours.

There are only fifteen students in our class, and we will take the exam in our own class tomorrow. This year, due to heavy snow, we were notified that we will not be taking the exam in the provincial capital.

The proctors are three city leaders and our principal, so please don't be nervous. It doesn't matter who proctors you.

All exam papers will be sealed and submitted to the province for grading after the exams. Due to the weather this year, the results will be released on the tenth day of the twelfth lunar month. Please remember to check your scores and apply for universities. I will give you more details after I finish my last exam the day after tomorrow.

Alright, I wish everyone the best of luck in achieving their desired results and soaring to new heights!

Zhang Hongmei was the only day student among all the students, so everyone left the classroom in twos and threes and went back to the dormitory. The intense study during this period had stabilized everyone's biological clock, and they felt uncomfortable not having self-study time.

Zhang Hongmei rode her bike home. Actually, she's not nervous anymore now. As long as she performs at her usual level, Capital University will be no problem; she just needs to play her normal game.

I enjoyed a wonderful bath in the spiritual spring water in the space and ate a plate of dumplings. This was a habit from my previous life. Before every exam, my mother would make dumplings for me. Dumplings, meaning precious food, have a symbolic meaning.

I picked up my Chinese textbook and notes again and reviewed all the key points once more.

As for politics, he closed his eyes and recalled the major events in various provinces and cities that he had heard on the news radio throughout the year, as well as the deeds of outstanding individuals and news about the progress of the war. He then took out the materials sent by Zhang Shouyi and carefully read them from beginning to end.

When I was tired, I slept; when I woke up, I ate and read. I left the space when it was almost time.

I arrived at school feeling refreshed. The classroom was already large, but there weren't many students, and this time the desks and chairs were spaced even further apart. The students were extremely polarized; a small number showed no obvious improvement, while the majority had dark circles under their eyes and looked listless.

This is not a good sign. It was only seven o'clock when the teacher came in carrying a large bowl of steaming hot food.

"Students, this is a special soup the school made for you. It smells delicious! Quickly take out your lunchboxes and each of you take two big spoonfuls. Zhang Hongmei, did you bring your lunchbox?"

"Teacher, I've already eaten, I'm full, I really can't eat anymore." It's not that Zhang Hongmei is being pretentious, but she never eats outside food indiscriminately before exams.

"It would be a shame not to eat it. I saw the chef put in a huge spoonful of lard."

The teacher's jokes improved the atmosphere considerably, and the students all had smiles on their faces.

The college entrance examination today is not like the ones of later years, where parents wait anxiously outside; it's the students themselves who face it.

Zhang Hongmei felt that this was actually better. At least she felt much more relaxed without her parents waiting for her outside.

After everyone finished their noodle soup and washed their lunchboxes, things became much easier when they got back. This is the best way, allowing everyone to perform at their best.

The teacher stayed in the classroom with the students, chatting and laughing, until 7:50, when the first bell rang, and only then did the homeroom teacher leave.

Zhang Hongmei sat in the last row, with two chairs behind her, presumably for the proctors, since there were two chairs in front of her as well.

At 7:55, the principal came in carrying a test paper wrapped in kraft paper, followed by three other leaders, including Liu Changhai.

The principal put down the package and said, "I won't say much else. I just hope you will show your true abilities and let your strengths speak for themselves. Also, please pay attention to exam discipline. I'm handing out the papers now."

Liu Changhai walked to the back and sat in the chair closest to Zhang Hongmei.

Zhang Hongmei received the exam paper. There were still two minutes left, and the bell hadn't rung yet. She glanced at it briefly and thought it was alright. The essay topic was her understanding of communism.

Zhang Hongmei decided to write an argumentative essay, as it would be easier that way.

The exam bell rang, and Zhang Hongmei picked up her pen to fill in the title page first, which was the most important part. Her exam number was fifteen.

I hunched over my desk, diligently answering the questions. Time flew by; I finished the first page in no time. The reading comprehension, classical poetry, and essay sections were the ones that took the longest.

Liu Changhai remained seated, keeping a close eye on Zhang Hongmei. He was afraid that if he went over there, he would disturb the child's work, so he watched from a distance.

Zhang Hongmei answered the questions very quickly. The principal strolled over to take a look and was very satisfied. She was at least one question faster than others, and her handwriting was neat and beautiful. If he were grading papers and saw such handwriting, he would like it and would unconsciously be lenient when deducting points.

Take out the draft paper that was given to me and start writing. The requirement is 400 words, which is easy to achieve.

After finishing writing, I carefully checked it to make sure it was fluent and without any typos before carefully copying it onto the exam paper.

The principal strolled over again. He was even more pleased; the essay was well-written, and he would give it twenty-eight points when grading it.

After Zhang Hongmei finished answering all the questions, she checked them from beginning to end. Finding nothing to change, she put down her pen and glanced at the remaining forty minutes.
