Chapter 1060 Decision

Zhang Hongmei gave a thumbs up. "Sister, you have a really good attitude. Yes, I also believe that heaven is watching what people do."

The old lady glanced at Liu Xiuling and asked, "Isn't it because you still have feelings for that man?"

Liu Xiuling smiled, her face no longer displaying the arrogance of before, but rather a carefree expression. "Grandma, I've already figured it out, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten a divorce."

I was blinded by what I thought was love back then. Looking back now, I realize how hypocritical that man was.

But I'm also glad that because of his arrogance, his family didn't know our family's actual situation, which allowed me to escape so easily.

"Big sister, I reckon their family probably knows by now, and they're probably regretting it so much."

"They must regret it, but they're probably more afraid than anything else. Kang Mingjing met my older brother and knows who he is. I'm already divorced. They must be afraid of losing their jobs."

"Let them all go in fear; this is a little punishment for them." Zhang Hongmei actually thought so too; sometimes, scaring yourself is the most painful thing.

"Hongmei, you and your daughter can stay for dinner."

"Grandma, I'm not feeling well anymore. The four children went to the army with my grandfather and father-in-law, and I'm a little worried about them."

"Grandma, how many days will you be staying?"

“I’m going back too. I feel terrible if I don’t see them for a day.”

“Hongmei, bring your children next time you come. Your uncle and I miss them.”

“Sure, the day after tomorrow is Saturday, Jinsong is closed, let’s come together.”

When Zhang Hongmei returned home, they were still not back. Every day, as soon as she opened her eyes, they were there, always in front of her. She hadn't thought much of it before, but now that they were suddenly not at home, she felt uneasy.

The mother and daughter had just arrived home when Zhou Shixiong came over. "Hongmei, where's your grandfather?"

"My great-uncle, my grandfather, my father, and the children have gone to the army."

"I knew it! Nobody was home when I came over at noon. When are they coming back?"

"I don't know either, Grandpa didn't say. But I guess I'll be home for dinner."

"Forget it, I'm going home. Gu Chuanming definitely won't come back."

"How about the four of us eat together?"

"No, I don't have an appetite eating with you. Chang'en, let's go back."

Zhang Hongmei looked at the old man speechlessly; his words were far too clear.

Zhou Shixiong left. Zhang Hongmei went to the kitchen. "Aunt Li, Li Guoliang called. His wife is four months pregnant. Why don't you and Uncle Li go and stay with them?"

"I'm worried about you here if I leave." Aunt Li was also worried. She had been separated from her son for more than ten years, and now she had a grandson. The elderly couple wanted to go there immediately, but they were really worried about leaving Hongmei here.

"It's alright, Aunt Li. These three new aunties may not cook as well as you, but they're still good. You should go over there. It's been so many years since we've been together. Although Li Guoliang can't come over now, your family will come back sometime in the future."

“Okay. I’ll watch the three of them cook. I’ll leave some things for them to do. We’ll leave next week. Let your Uncle Li go buy the train tickets first.”

"It would be better if Chengzi took Uncle Li to buy the tickets. At least they could get sleeper berths. In the Northwest, it would take at least twenty days or a month to get there."

"That's great, then your Uncle Li and I can bring more things."

"Of course! You should bring more. Pack more of the tonics from the warehouse tomorrow."

Zhang Hongmei wasn't an unreasonable person; of course, the other person wanted to reunite with their son, so she naturally wanted to grant their wish.

Back in the living room, she was alone. The old lady had gone to her room to rest, and Zhang Hongmei didn't know what to do. She used to always seize every moment to write scripts, but now that she had time, she didn't want to pick up a pen at all.

When Zhang Shouyi returned, he saw his wife sitting restlessly in the living room.

"Brother Zhang, why haven't Grandpa and the others come back yet?"

“I called and they said Grandpa and the others are having dinner at the military base, so you don’t need to worry about it.”

“Zhou Shixiong was right after all.” Zhang Hongmei relayed Zhou Shixiong’s words to Zhang Shouyi.

"Brother Zhang, how are the children?"

"There shouldn't be any problem. Xiao Shun didn't say anything, and he sounded quite cheerful."

Dinner was eaten by the four of them together, and the dishes and rice were all cooked by the three newcomers. "Grandma, are their tastes alright?"

"I think it's alright. Why don't you ask Gu Chuanming and the other man? Are Old Li and his wife leaving?"

"Yes, they're leaving next week. What do you think, Brother Zhang?"

Zhang Shouyi didn't care about that, as long as the elderly and children in his family could get used to the food. "I have no objection, as long as Grandpa and Dad find it palatable."

"What about Jingsong? Are they doing alright?"

"Auntie, I'm eating alright. Are Grandma Li and the others leaving?"

"Yes, your Aunt Li is pregnant, and your Grandma Li is going to go and take care of her."

Liu Jingsong had a very good relationship with the couple, and after hearing Zhang Hongmei's words, he felt a little down.

"Jinsong, they will all come back."

"Auntie, I know. I'm just a little reluctant to leave them."

Half an hour passed after the four of them finished eating before they heard any noise from the yard.

Zhang Hongmei hurriedly went out to greet them. Seeing the four children being led by the two elderly people, she finally felt relieved.

"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy."

Zhang Hongmei quickly squatted down and caught the four children who rushed towards her.

Zhang Shouyi stopped them first, saying, "Be careful, you're all men now, you're strong, you'll knock your mother down."

When Zhang Shouyi said this, all four children were happy. Children are most willing to be acknowledged by adults that they have grown up.

Zhang Hongmei led two children, and Zhang Shouyi led two others into the living room.

"Mom, it's fun outside."

"Yes? I'm glad you like it. Now that the weather is warmer, you can go out and play with your great-grandfather and grandfather more often."

"Mom, you're so good to me." The second and third sons immediately climbed onto the sofa and kissed Zhang Hongmei's cheek. Their fawning manner made Zhang Shouyi laugh.

Four nannies who were in charge of their daily lives came over and took them to take a bath.

Each child drank another bottle of milk and then fell asleep.

The next morning, the family ate together. No one lingered in bed; everyone got up at 6:30 and ate at 7:00.

“Hongmei, our children are so outstanding. Seeing them train makes them eager to try. Whenever the two of us go to the army, we will definitely take them with us.” Gu Chuanming was overjoyed.

"Grandpa, I'll leave the four of them to you two from now on. I'm going to teach at a university."

"Okay, you go ahead, leave it to the two of us."
