Chapter 626 Meeting

"Thanks to you."

"What are you saying? Go get busy."

"I'm done with my work. They're probably talking about something right now. I'll stay downstairs for a bit; chatting with them is too tiring."

Zhang Hongmei leaned back on the sofa with her eyes closed. She thought to herself that she really wasn't afraid of trouble. How did she end up with this again? Enough is enough; from now on, she should just focus on researching computers.

This trading company alone can make a lot of money, enough to build a villa back in Liujiatun.

"Sister, do you want to sleep?"

"No, my eyes are just tired, so I'm resting them with my eyes closed. Annie, is your game time over?"

"Yes, it's Uncle Roy's turn to play now."

"Oh, shall we go help out in the kitchen?"

"Is it okay? Grandma won't let me into the kitchen, she's afraid it's dangerous."

"There's a fire in the kitchen, it's definitely not safe, but you can be careful yourself, right? Come on, let me take you inside to take a look."

"Okay, okay!"

The two entered the kitchen hand in hand, where Shen Yunfang was stewing meat. This is an indispensable dish for Chinese people entertaining guests, and it's also the main course.

"Aunt Chen, is there anything we can do to help?"

"No need for you guys, go out and play. If you get hungry, there's donkey roll. Just eat a little bit of dough to tide you over."

"Annie, are you hungry?"

The little girl shook her head, holding Zhang Hongmei's hand, but her head kept turning, showing genuine curiosity about the kitchen.

"Annie, shall we help Aunt Chen prepare the vegetables?"

"Okay, I've helped my grandma at home before. I even got praised for it."

"That's amazing."

"You two really don't need to do anything, the vegetables have already been prepared."

In the end, the two of them left the kitchen. There was nothing for them to do, and staying there would only delay Aunt Shen.

"Annie, do you know how to play chess?"

The little girl shook her head, staring at Zhang Hongmei with a puzzled look.

"I'll teach you. Let's play Go."

"You two wait here, I'll go find you some Go sets." Wang Xinyi got up and went back to her room.

When the two men came down, they saw two elegant young women sitting on the sofa playing chess.

"Dad, my sister is teaching me how to play Go. I think it's really fun," Annie said with a smile as she saw her father come downstairs.

Carlos McKen smiled and ruffled his daughter's hair. "Do you like it that much?"

"Hmm, it feels really interesting." After saying that, he lowered his head and continued walking.

Zhang Hongmei was just playing with Annie and wasn't really paying attention; she was actually thinking about making a few board games. Go, checkers, Gomoku, and Chinese chess were all on her mind.

Even if they don't know how, if it's turned into a game, people will play it, which can be considered as promoting a national treasure.

"Why is the house so lively?" Kong Yushun had come to return his bicycle and found two strangers and Wyattroy there when he entered the living room.

"Senior Kong, please have a seat. Let me introduce you, this is Mr. Carlos McKen and his daughter."

“Annie, this is one of the brothers I was talking about.”

Anne greeted him with a smile, then looked down at the chessboard again.

Kong Yushun and Carlos McCann shook hands, introduced themselves, and greeted each other.

"Kong Yushun is here! Have lunch at home today!" Wang Xinyi came out carrying a teapot and immediately extended an invitation upon seeing him.

"No need, Aunt Wang. I still need to help knead the dough when I get back. Our sales are so good right now, we're always running out of stock."

"Hehe, that's great, congratulations." Wang Xinyi was genuinely happy for them, feeling that these young people had finally found their place.

The lunch was praised by the three foreigners, and they really did eat a lot.

After lunch, Wyattroy said goodbye and left. Annie didn't want to go home with her father, so she stayed for a nap.

The few times Zhang Hongmei had to put her child to a nap were with her naughty nephew. He never had a moment to spare; putting him to sleep was more tiring than finishing a test paper.

So when I saw Annie lying obediently in bed, my heart melted. I lay down next to her and told her the story of Journey to the West.

An hour later, I woke Annie up, and after she ate some steamed egg custard, the two of them took turns writing and playing the game. The study was unusually quiet.

Because I taught Annie Go this morning, I created some simple Go games this afternoon. I don't know much about Go myself, just a little bit, so I'm creating them now and will upgrade them later when I find someone who understands the game better.

"Sister, my game time is over."

"My Annie is such a good girl. Here's a set of my toys from when I was little. Try them and see if you like them."

Zhang Hongmei returned to her bedroom and found a roly-poly toy and a rattle drum in the cabinet. The rest were really difficult to take out of her storage space.

Annie looked at the two toys and gave Zhang Hongmei the look she gave a child. "Sister, these are the toys I played with when I was little. Now I'm all grown up."

Zhang Hongmei gave an awkward grin. "Well, I don't have any other toys either."

"Sister, you go ahead and do your work. I'm going downstairs to play with Aunt Wang and the baby."

Zhang Hongmei escorted her downstairs and assured her that she would definitely come downstairs in an hour.

There are many codes for Go, and this is just the final step, so Zhang Hongmei came downstairs half an hour later.

Annie nestled close to Wang Xinyi, and the two whispered to each other.

"Sister, have you finished your work?"

"Yes, now you can play Go on the computer."

"Really? I'll play this during game time tonight."

"What would you two like to eat tonight? How about wontons?"

"Sure, what do you think, Annie?"

"Aunt Wang, sister, I'm not a picky eater, I can eat anything."

"Good boy, you are so well-behaved. Auntie will make you shrimp wontons, I guarantee you'll love them."

"Auntie, sister, could my dad come to eat too? Otherwise, he'll forget to eat again."

After hearing what Annie said, Wang Xinyi excitedly hugged her, "Of course you can. What a lovely child, you're so thoughtful."

Everyone was curious about Annie's mother, but no one dared to ask. Since it was just the two of them together, they assumed the mother must have a problem, and they couldn't let their curiosity hurt others.

"Annie, would you like to learn how to make wontons?" Zhang Hongmei suddenly thought that children might like it, just like playing a game. Wontons made by hand might taste better.

Annie shook her head. "Sister, no, please. Can you take me home? I miss my dad."

"Okay, I'll go take you now. Remember to come over for dinner with your dad at six o'clock."

Annie stood up and took Zhang Hongmei's hand. "Sister, I won't forget that there was no food at home. Dad can't cook, and I hate bread and milk."

The two went to Annie's house hand in hand.

"Sister, why don't you stay? I'll play the piano for you later, okay?"
