Chapter 82: Clearing up the history of old techniques

Old Chen shook his head and said, "I am just suspicious. I am not as good as a Bodhisattva. Can I point out their mistakes? It is difficult."

He studied the old techniques in depth, and after sorting out some of the threads from ancient times to the present, he discovered some problems. But if he really had to point out where the immortals had gone wrong, that would have been a bit difficult for Old Chen.

But being able to have doubts and point out possible detours is enough to prove that Lao Chen has put in a lot of effort. Of course, this is also related to the fact that the present time is different from the past.

The ancients were influenced by the background of the times and had their own limitations.

Today is an era of information explosion, with new technologies emerging in an endless stream and drastic changes. After experiencing such a baptism, coupled with the fact that Lao Chen is at the forefront of today's traditional technology field, his vision has indeed transcended the inherent scope.

Wang Xuan asked him to point out all the problematic parts. This was very important to him as he would inevitably run into some big traps set by the ancients in the future.

Regardless of whether those ancients are dead or not, the traps and schemes they left behind are still in effect and must be strictly guarded against.

"During the Pre-Qin period, the root method was the main approach, and it was extremely brilliant. Its influence continues to this day, benefiting all those who have embarked on the path of the old technique." Old Chen was neither hurried nor slow as he sorted out the thread.

The so-called root method involves the gathering of energy, meditation, and inner nourishment, which are of immeasurable value and irreplaceable in improving physical fitness and strengthening the spirit.

The alchemist used the root method to actually enter the inner realm, which directly led to a qualitative change in the old technique, crossing the chasm and achieving true sublimation and transcendence.

"Another great achievement of alchemists is alchemy, which mainly involves burning minerals in an alchemy furnace, quenching the original liquid, and extracting the essence, hoping to obtain the final elixir and achieve immortality. In that period, there were few records of minerals used in alchemy, but they were definitely rare treasures and divine objects in the world."

Wang Xuan was surprised. Didn’t the alchemist make pills out of medicine?

Old Chen said: "In the early days, they did mine secret ores, melt down divine objects that fell from the sky, etc., but they didn't take medicinal herbs."

It was not until later, after the discovery of the inner scene and the secret path to the heavenly medicine, that the alchemists began to consider smelting those rare medicines!

The so-called heavenly medicine is not the medicine in this world. Lao Chen mentioned an article last time. It is difficult to find a great medicine by force. Looking back suddenly, it may be in the sunset on the horizon above the crowds of people and the world.

It can be said that the alchemists' successive discovery of the two secret paths of inner scenery and heavenly medicine led to a qualitative leap in the old art, leading it to its peak of glory.

At that time, which top alchemist didn't have a few sacred beasts and birds? When traveling, they would often use unicorns to pull chariots, or ride on the backs of phoenixes to travel around the East China Sea to visit friends.

When later generations look back at the history of this old art, they are all amazed and believe that it is difficult to reproduce such a spectacle.

Because all the mythical birds and beasts in the world have almost been captured and killed by the top alchemists.

"During that period, there were indeed a number of top alchemists who embarked on the path to immortality and were bombarded by thunder. However, as these people ascended to immortality one after another, the glory of the alchemists came to an end, and it ended suddenly."

Old Chen lamented that the heyday of the alchemists had just passed, but they suddenly faded away, which made him have all kinds of doubts and associations.

"Combining what is happening to you now and what I have experienced, I feel that the waters of the inner scene are very deep, mysterious and somewhat scary. In addition, the heavenly medicine is too hard to find and extremely difficult to pick. The two major secret roads are gradually being blocked, which is the fundamental reason for the decline of the alchemists."

Lao Chen expressed his guess and said, "So, later, the Qin Emperor asked the alchemist Xu Fu to pick the elixir of immortality, that is, the heavenly medicine. He could only go to sea to avoid disaster. I guess he also knew that he couldn't find it during this period."

The Qin Emperor wanted to live forever and sought the elixir of life, but at that stage it was impossible to succeed.

"I suspect that something bad happened to some big figures among the alchemists, so they fell into decline. Even the alchemists who ascended to heaven may have finally realized something." Old Chen was extremely serious. Unfortunately, his realm was far inferior to those people. Even if he had read all the ancient books, he could only make some guesses and could not find any evidence.

Wang Xuan frowned. A lot of things had happened in the past on the old path of magic, which gave people a feeling of being foggy everywhere. He needed to become stronger constantly before he could slowly approach and explore.

Old Chen continued, "When the alchemists came to an end, they began to accept modern herbs and would add some to the elixir, mixing them with minerals for extraction. It was at this time that the Taoists took over. In addition to special gold and stone, they began to add a lot of herbs and other herbs to the elixir."

According to Lao Chen's understanding, as times change, latecomers have discovered certain problems and started to expand into other areas.

"In the early days, Taoism attached great importance to Xinzhai, which means to keep the mind clear and peaceful, focusing on cultivating the mind and accumulating spiritual energy. In Taoist scriptures, it is believed that the great way is the most empty and peaceful, and it is hoped that Xinzhai can achieve harmony with the great way."

At this point, he sighed, "However, these are too high and too far away, and the requirements for the mind and spiritual realm are too high, and many people cannot even get started. Just imagine, who proposed this lofty path? Laozi and Zhuangzi! The Tao Te Ching mentions 'reaching the extreme of emptiness and maintaining deep tranquility', and the Zhuangzi: The Human World clearly explains this secret method: 'Only the Tao gathers emptiness, and emptiness is the heart'. It's a pity that it's difficult for ordinary people to continue on this path."

Wang Xuan was stunned. Was what his old colleague said reliable? He quickly checked it on his mobile phone and found that the early Taoist practice was indeed heart fasting, heel breathing, etc., and later there were guidance, breathing, etc.

Sure enough, Lao Chen talked about heel breathing again and said, "The secret method of Xinzhai is a bit high, and it requires a specific path to walk, so there is heel breathing, which refers to the deep internal breathing that reaches the heels."

"Zhuangzi: The Great Master" once recorded: "When he sleeps, he does not dream; when he wakes up, he has no worries; when he eats, he does not feel sweet; when he breathes, he breathes deeply. The true man breathes with his heels; the common man breathes with his throat."
