Everyone's eyes lit up when they saw the primordial core in Chi Xia's hand. Although they didn't know what the primordial core's attributes were, having the primordial core meant they hadn't returned empty-handed, and they could at least barely report back to the base.
Two of the five team leaders died, leaving only three. Chi Xia not only had the highest level of superpowers, but also saved everyone's lives. Without Elder Qin, she naturally became the leader of the team.
After leaving the city, everyone found their respective vehicles. Fortunately, nothing unexpected happened, the supplies were not reduced, and it was easier to explain things when they returned.
The group drove back to the campsite where they had set off that morning, their spirits rising as high as they had set off.
Especially when you see the dozen or so tents that have been set up, standing sparsely on the open ground, they are a stark contrast to the crowds of last night.
Many men were overcome with grief and couldn't help but sob softly.
Chi Xia could understand their feelings. She wasn't familiar with the people who died, but to them, they were brothers, comrades-in-arms, and even family members who had fought alongside them and entrusted their lives to each other.
And now, they are all dead.
A somber mood hung over the camp. Li Han and the others looked at each other, feeling both saddened for them and secretly relieved.
I'm glad I chose Team Six, and I'm glad their captain is Chi Xia, not someone else.
Chi Xia sighed, walked over to Li Che, and asked in a low voice, "How much food do we have left?"
“There’s still quite a lot.” Li Han roughly understood what she meant: “When we came out, we didn’t know how long we would be outside, so we brought a lot with us.”
Chi Xia nodded: "Then please do your best to cook for everyone. It's okay if we run out of ingredients, we still have dry rations. We can get to the base tomorrow night."
"It's not hard work," Li Han sighed, then turned and called Liu Daniu. The two of them went to build a makeshift stove.
They still worked together. Ever since she learned that Mengmeng had the intelligence of a three-and-a-half-year-old, Chi Xia stopped keeping it under her control. She repeatedly told it not to leave her sight and to call it whenever it wanted. Once it responded, Chi Xia would let it play.
Zhang Xin still felt that Chi Xia trusted Mengmeng too much. When picking and washing vegetables, she would always check on Mengmeng from time to time, afraid that Mengmeng might get lost.
Looking at her like this, Chi Xia said in a low voice, "Do you remember what I just said to Mengmeng?"
While watching Mengmeng run around in the open space, Zhang Xin replied absentmindedly, "You tell it not to leave your sight and to respond when you call it. But it's still a cub and hasn't been trained. If it gets lost, you won't even know where to look for it."
Chi Xia smiled and said, "Then do you think it ever left my sight?"
“Not yet.” Zhang Xin turned her gaze from Mengmeng to Chi Xia and said, “But it’s still too small. Look at it, it’s probably not even five months old yet…”
"Its body is not five months old, but its intelligence is as high as that of a three-and-a-half-year-old human child."
Chi Xia interrupted Zhang Xin and said to her, "If you don't believe me, you can try."
Although Zhang Xin knew that Chi Xia wouldn't lie to her, Mengmeng's intelligence level of three and a half years old was still beyond her comprehension. She looked incredulous: "It's only five months old and it's already three and a half years old. When it's ten years old, won't it be smarter than me?"
"I don't know, but you can try."
After saying that, Chi Xia waved to Mengmeng: "Mengmeng, come here."
