Chi Xia picked up Mengmeng and let it lie comfortably in her arms. She gently stroked its fur and said softly, "You have to stay at home obediently. Sister Ranzhu will come to keep you company. You can't be picky about food, and you can't be mean to Sister Ranzhu. She's timid and can't be scared by you."
"Aww~~"
Mengmeng raised her round little face, her big, bright green eyes looking at her with a very aggrieved expression.
Chi Xia's heart softened completely. She lifted its little head and gave it a big kiss on the forehead: "Good boy!"
That night, Mengmeng didn't leave. It stayed in Chi Xia's arms, quietly raising its head and looking at her with its big, watery green eyes, as if afraid that she would disappear in the blink of an eye.
When Chi Xia woke up the next day, Mengmeng was still asleep.
She tiptoed out of bed, ate something quickly, and didn't see Mengmeng come downstairs when she was about to leave.
Chi Xia couldn't bear to watch it say goodbye, so she simply didn't go up to look at it again. She put on the backpack she had packed yesterday, turned around, and went out the door.
When they arrived at the meeting place, Chi Xia discovered that although they had tried to minimize their luggage, their team, Team Six, had the most items among the five teams.
While other squads carried dry rations and military supplies, their squad brought two large bags full of fresh ingredients, a 50-pound bag of rice, and two large buckets of water.
Their appearance drew attention from everyone.
Chi Xia had tried to persuade them, but Li Han, Zhang Xin, and Liu Daniu firmly refuted her for the first time.
The three unanimously stated that they would rather go without water or sleep than go without a decent meal.
Chi Xia still remembers how they protected those two bags of vegetables and 50 kilograms of rice so fiercely, just as fiercely as Mengmeng when she guarded her food.
The base provided each squad with a seven-seater off-road vehicle. Because it was a group deployment and supplies were limited, the number of people in each squad was kept to seven or less.
In the trunk of the car, besides communication equipment such as walkie-talkies and signal flares, there were also several guns and a box of bullets.
Liu Daniu was startled: "This... I don't know how to use this thing."
“This isn’t for you.” Li Han picked one up and tried it out. “This is for us superhumans who can’t protect ourselves. As for you, just grab a hammer and go for it.”
Liu Daniu's face immediately fell: "But I don't even have a hammer!"
Upon hearing this, Li Han realized that he had indeed never seen his weapon before, and was immediately surprised: "How did you get here all this way?"
"With my fists!" Liu Daniu waved his fist: "One punch from me can smash the heads of those zombies open!"
"Ha!" Li Han scoffed mercilessly, "A few zombies are fine, but what if there's a whole bunch? How many fists do you have to smash them?"
“This…” Liu Daniu looked at the guns in the trunk with difficulty: “How about I try this one instead?”
"No!" Li Han quickly stopped his hand: "If you don't know how to use it, you'll accidentally fire it and kill yourself first."
Liu Daniu retorted, "Why can you use it, but I can't?"
Li Han glanced at him indifferently: "Have you forgotten that I am a military doctor? Besides, I studied at a military medical university for my undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees. What about you?"
Liu Daniu immediately deflated: "I, I only went to primary school."
They talked for a while, then Chi Xia came over and asked, "What's wrong?"
Liu Daniu and Li Han then told each other that Liu Daniu didn't have any weapons.
Chi Xia thought for a moment and then took him to find Master Zhuo.
