Several thoughts flashed through Qin Zhao's mind, the worst being that Han Junche had already discovered his true identity.
He was even prepared to fight Han Junche, but he never expected that Han Junche's first words would be: "Let's go to the military base again."
Qin Zhao breathed a sigh of relief; thank goodness no one had noticed. He coughed lightly and said, "Um, why are we still going? Wasn't it already destroyed?"
"I just want to go and take a look," Han Junche said calmly. "And while I'm at it, I'll borrow your special ability to help me find someone."
Qin Zhao was confused by his words: "There are zombies everywhere, no living people, and it's already collapsed, so we can't find anything. Besides, it's pitch black now, we might as well wait until dawn..."
"Just going to take a look." Han Junche interrupted him, emphasizing again, his clear voice carrying a hint of insistence: "Just one look is enough."
Qin Zhao didn't know what he was going to do, but he nodded anyway: "Okay, I'll go with you."
After saying that, he looked down at Little Grey and said, "Little Grey, you go to the tent and sleep first. I'll be back in a bit."
Little Grey obediently crawled into Qin Zhao's tent, curled up into a ball, and closed its eyes.
Han Junche and Qin Zhao got into the car furthest from the camp, quietly started the car, and left the camp.
The camp was not far from the military base. The two did not speak along the way. Although Qin Zhao had a lot of questions, he didn't say anything in the end when he saw Han Junche's silent expression. Anyway, he would find out sooner or later, right?
As they approached the entrance to the military base, Han Junche finally spoke up, "Do you recognize shoulder insignia?"
Qin Zhao didn't understand why he asked this, and scoffed lightly: "Every man has a military dream in his heart, and he recognizes shoulder insignia to some extent."
"That's good."
The car arrived at the gate, and Han Junche stopped. He got out of the car, took a high-powered flashlight from the trunk, and handed it to Qin Zhao, saying, "Please go to the military base. You don't need to get out and search. Just look from the air to see if there are any people wearing general's shoulder insignia."
He paused for a moment before continuing, "If you see one, please look closely and describe its appearance and physique to me."
He knew perfectly well that the base was now only inhabited by zombies, yet he still used the word "human."
Qin Zhao took the flashlight, frowned, and looked at him: "Can I ask you, what is your relationship with that person?"
Han Junche did not answer, but just looked at him quietly, his eyes deep.
Qin Zhao tossed the flashlight in his hand: "It's okay, if you don't want to talk about it, that's fine. I was just asking."
After he finished speaking, he turned around and was about to leave when he heard Han Junche's clear voice say in a low, deep voice, "That person might be my father."
This time it was Qin Zhao's turn to be surprised. He turned around and looked at Han Junche, saying, "Are you the son of Army Commander Han Guofei?"
Han Junche didn't answer, but looked at him with a questioning gaze: "How did you know?"
"Is it hard to guess?" Qin Zhao blinked. "I'm a military enthusiast. Before the apocalypse, there were only 26 generals in our country. Among these 26 generals, only the Army Commander Han Guofei had the surname Han. You said you are the son of a general. Who else could it be but him?"
Han Junche withdrew his gaze and slowly nodded: "Yes, that's me. Please don't mention tonight's events to anyone."
