Chapter 672 The Death of Charlie

Three days after the ten teams set off, Charlie finally made contact with Yang Hong again.

This time, however, it was a different person; the man introduced himself as William.

Yang Hong: "Where's Charlie?"

William: "Charlie was discovered and killed by aliens for obstructing the energy experiment, but don't worry, Charlie's work will be continued by me and the dozens of other sane humans behind me."

Yang Hong remained silent for a moment before typing out a password: "Please accept my condolences."

William: "It's nothing. We were prepared for this from the moment we chose this path and sent out an SOS distress signal. Anyway, thank you for your concern. Let's figure out how to send the blueprints to you."

Although several satellites have been restored, long-distance image transmission is still not possible; even computers cannot connect to them.

William: "Given the current situation, I can only give verbal instructions. You'll need someone skilled in cartography to complete this. Charlie is dead, and the aliens are on high alert. We need to be more careful with our communications. Get ready, and I'll contact you again in three days."

Yang Hong: "Okay."

Upon receiving the message, the other party immediately cut off contact and did not mention again the matter of asking them to send people to obstruct the aliens' search for energy and to rescue them.

They must have known that, given the unclear circumstances, having the Empire send people over required them to prove they weren't deceiving anyone and that they were sincere.

Therefore, William did not bring up the matter again until he had shown sufficient sincerity.

After cutting off contact, Yang Hong immediately pulled out Director Xin's number from his blacklist and dialed it.

Director Xin didn't hold a grudge, but only lazily pressed the answer button on the third call: "Oh, Minister Yang, who's always so busy, actually has time to call me?!"

Yang Hong's forehead veins throbbed, but remembering that he had blocked her first, he still spoke politely, "It was wrong of me to block you before, but I'm calling you this time because..."

"How could you be wrong?"

Before Yang Hong could finish speaking, Director Xin interrupted him, his tone somewhat sarcastic: "It's all my fault. You're so busy, and I'm still harassing you with a phone call every day. You blocked me and kept hanging up on my calls from different numbers. That's only right."

As he repeatedly used the honorific "you," the veins on Yang Hong's forehead bulged so much they almost formed a grid shape.

He held back for a while, but finally couldn't take it anymore. He held the phone to his ear and yelled into it, "Hey, Xin! Let me tell you! They called and said they'll contact us in three days to give us the mecha design drawings verbally, and they want us to prepare a top-notch mechanical draftsman! Come or don't come, it's up to you!"

After saying this, Yang Hong angrily reached out and slammed the hang-up button.

After hanging up the phone, he was still not satisfied, so he dug out Director Xin's phone number, intending to add it to his blacklist.

Just then, the name "Director Xin" appeared on the phone.

Yang Hong snorted. "Serves you right for ignoring me and being sarcastic. You ignored me just now, but now you can't afford to be near me!"

However, despite his thoughts, he answered the phone when it rang a second time.

As soon as the call connected, Director Xin's obsequious voice came through: "Old Yang, they just said they wanted to introduce me to someone, and I was furious. You just happened to walk in on this. It's all my fault. I'll come over tonight for a drink to make amends!"
