The situation immediately became awkward. Wang Erlong tugged at Wang Dalong and gave Jia Jing a forced smile, saying, "My older brother didn't mean anything by it."
Jia Jing glanced at Wang Dalong and said to Wang Erlong, "I don't mean anything by it, I'm just doing everything according to the base's rules."
Wang Erlong smiled but didn't say anything.
Li Han, who hadn't spoken until now, asked, "I wonder if it's possible to move it over several days?"
"no."
Jia Jing answered firmly: "We'll move into the detached houses when we've gathered three tons of supplies. That's the rule. If everyone just keeps track of the costs first and then decides what to do after moving in, how can the base be managed?"
Rules, rules, rules again.
But Jia Jing's words were all reasonable, and there was not a single fault to be found in them.
But whether it's the rules that can't be changed, or people who don't agree to change them, only Jia Jing probably knows the answer to that.
The atmosphere was a bit tense. Chi Xia glanced at Jia Jing and felt that this woman, who seemed to be businesslike, principled, and disciplined, was deliberately making things difficult for her.
She smiled at Li Han and the others: "It's okay, I can just move tonight. Li Han, you can cook. I haven't had lunch yet, I'm starving. Also, bring Mengmeng from the car outside, she's starving too."
Chunli, who had been ignored and was almost pushed into the crowd of onlookers, quickly raised her hand: "Me too, me too, I haven't eaten yet either!"
Only then did everyone notice her. Liu Daniu's eyes lit up, and he quickly said, "Okay, okay, what do you want to eat?"
"I want to eat meat!" Chun-Li said without any hesitation, "I haven't had meat in so long!"
“Okay!” Liu Daniu flashed his big white teeth: “I’ll have Li Han make it for you.”
Hearing this, Li Han rolled his eyes at him: "What an idiot, did I agree to that?"
Liu Daniu's face stiffened. He leaned close to Li Han's ear and whispered, "Brother Li, can you give me some face? If you're going to do this, then don't blame me for being heartless. Go have a good chat with Sister Zhang!"
Li Han frowned, turned his head to look at him, and gritted his teeth: "Are you threatening me?"
"I wouldn't dare!" Liu Daniu quickly waved his hand and smiled ingratiatingly at him: "I just wanted to tell you to put yourself in others' shoes."
Li Han glanced at Liu Daniu, then at Chunli, and finally nodded. He whispered to Liu Daniu, "This is a one-time exception. If you make any promises or use that matter to threaten me again, don't blame me for turning against you."
Liu Daniu nodded quickly: "Yes, yes, Brother Li, don't worry."
While the two of them were whispering to each other, Zhang Xin had already started talking to Chi Xia. She looked at Chi Xia with a worried expression: "Sister Chi, are you really going to move out three tons of supplies?"
Chi Xia nodded: "Yes."
“Why bother?” Zhang Xin advised, “We live quite well in a high-rise building. The facilities are complete, the decoration is nice, and each room has its own bathroom. It’s better than the house I lived in before the apocalypse. Why do you insist on…”
"I had no choice," Chi Xia interrupted her, her face contorted with a pained expression. "Let's talk about it slowly tonight."
Seeing her resolute attitude, Zhang Xin stopped trying to persuade her and rolled up his sleeves, saying, "Okay, then I'll help you. You just throw the things out, and I'll carry them."
"What are you saying, Sister Zhang!" Wang Dalong said, "Do you think we grown men are just for show?"
Wang Erlong nodded: "Exactly."
Liu Daniu rolled up his sleeves and said, "Sister Zhang, you, Brother Li, and Jerry go and prepare food for Sister Chi. Leave the heavy lifting to us men."
Chunli then came over and said, "I'll help too."
