Chapter 145 Family Members Are Not Innocent

After Lin Zhaoyue finished eating and came out of the house, the two little ones were overjoyed to see their mother. They ran towards her excitedly, waving their arms and legs and calling "Mama" repeatedly.

"Hug me~"

Lin Zhaoyue could only squat down, with each of the two children hugging one of her thighs.

"Mommy, hug me!" Erguai climbed up using both hands and feet, wanting her mother to hug her.

Lin Zhaoyue picked up Erguai, while Daguai stood up and looked up at her with pleading eyes, looking adorable.

She could only put Erguai down and hug Daguai again.

This is probably the "sweet" burden of having two children.

"Come and eat an apple." Hua Xiuyun and her aunt each had half an apple in their hands; they had just eaten some.

The two little ones then ran over to eat the apple.

It's apple puree scooped out with a spoon.

Normally, a child around one year old can eat apples by themselves, as long as they are not too crunchy. However, the mother-in-law disagrees. She believes that children this age are prone to choking due to jumping around. Furthermore, she insists that the children must sit properly and behave well while eating. The mother-in-law is very good at educating children, and Lin Zhaoyue has always been very worry-free.

"Zhaoyue, don't you need to go to the hospital today?"

Hua Xiuyun then asked, "It's really rare for my daughter-in-law to have a day off at home."

"Let's go tomorrow. I've been a bit tired lately." Lin Zhaoyue sat down and watched them eat. Their little mouths were so cute moving. She loved her own child no matter how she looked at him.

“Yes, you shouldn’t have worked yourself so hard. You should take proper rest.” Hua Xiuyun’s lips curled slightly as she looked at Lin Zhaoyue. Her daughter-in-law had lost weight because of her busy work schedule; she had lost the few pounds she gained during her pregnancy.

"What do you want to eat for lunch today? How about we make stewed pork ribs? Or maybe dumplings?" Hua Xiuyun thought that she hadn't had dumplings in a long time. Making dumplings is usually quite troublesome; it takes half a day to wrap several people's dumplings.

Lin Zhaoyue had just finished eating and felt like she couldn't eat anything. She couldn't think of anything to eat, so she left it to her mother-in-law to decide.

Hua Xiuyun thought about it and decided to have dumplings instead! There happened to be some minced meat at home, so she made pork and scallion dumplings.

She instructed the aunt to take out all the minced meat to thaw, and then she would knead the dough and wrap the dumplings in a little while.

Lin Zhaoyue doesn't know how to make dumplings; she's responsible for watching the children play in the yard.

My mother-in-law bought a lot of toys for the children before I was pregnant, and she kept buying them whenever she saw something new. Now we have so many that the house can hardly hold them all.

The two children are very focused when playing with their toys, and can usually play for one or two hours without getting tired.

Lin Zhaoyue wanted to help make dumplings, but she didn't know where to start.

"Don't worry about it." Hua Xiuyun quickly told Lin Zhaoyue to rest, and never let her do any housework, including cooking.

Lin Zhaoyue: "..."

"Your hands will be used to hold scalpels in the future, so you don't need to worry about these chores around the house."

"Mom, you're so good to me, your daughter-in-law. How am I supposed to take care of my own daughter-in-law when I have one?"

Lin Zhaoyue said in a half-joking tone that she was so spoiled by her in-laws that she couldn't do anything. What would she do when she got married? She would never be like her mother-in-law.

"We'll arrange for your sister-in-law to be rehired then," Aunt Da Guai joked.

The sister-in-law she was referring to was Hua Xiuyun.

"Alright, when my grandson gets married, as long as this old woman can still manage, I'll take care of her." Hua Xiuyun smiled happily; this was a good thing.

Lin Zhaoyue smiled and said that she wouldn't want to trouble her mother-in-law again later.

"Hey? Zhaoyue, when are you two planning to have another one?"

The one speaking was the aunt who took care of Da Guai.

Hua Xiuyun was satisfied with the two housekeepers who stayed at home, both in terms of their temperament and other aspects.

We get along like family, and I don't have any special precautions against them.

"No more children." Before Lin Zhaoyue could speak, Hua Xiuyun said directly, "Having two children is already enough suffering. Now that they have both a son and a daughter, there's no need to have another one."

"Sister-in-law, with your family's resources, it wouldn't matter if you had ten or eight more children!"

"What? Does my family have a throne to inherit or something? How can we afford to raise so many children?" Hua Xiuyun was amused.

"Your family is well-off, while others who are less well-off still have several children."

"I'm not having any more children." Hua Xiuyun shook her head. "It's not about how many children you have, but having many children is tiring for the mother."

Raising a child is much harder than giving birth. Childbirth involves ten months of pregnancy and one day of delivery, but raising a child is a lifetime commitment! You won't be able to close your eyes in peace until you die.

Besides, Hua Xiuyun only had one son, and she would never ask Zhaoyue to have more children. Whether the first child was a boy or a girl, as long as the two of them did not plan to have more children, she would not urge them to have more.

"Sister-in-law, no wonder your family is doing better and better. You have such a clear mind. I have a lot to learn from you."

"Sigh! What's there to learn? My education level isn't high, but my daughter-in-law's is."

Hua Xiuyun initially praised her as the top scorer in the college entrance examination, and now that she is studying under Professor Liao, she has a bright future ahead of her!

Lin Zhaoyue, listening from the side, couldn't help but feel proud.

Sure enough, both adults and children love to be praised.

"..."

The leisurely time spent at home with the children flew by, and Lin Zhaoyue had to go to the hospital the next day.

She had just arrived at the hospital when an acquaintance came to her door.

Zhang Fuyi's younger sister,

Zhang Taoyi.

I met her the first time I went to see Zhang Fuyi.

Zhang Tao noticed that Lin Zhaoyue showed no shock whatsoever, and guessed that she must know who she was.

Without saying a word,

He knelt down directly in the examination room with a "plop".

Zhang Tao kowtowed to Lin Zhaoyue several times, "thump thump," as if she felt no pain.

"Hey? It's not Chinese New Year, you don't need to come over to wish us a Happy New Year since you got up so early!"

Liao Ping glanced at her and said, "Speak your mind. Don't waste time here. We'll start the clinic in ten minutes. If you don't leave, we'll have someone throw you out."

"Director, my brother is Zhang Fuyi." Zhang Taoyi introduced herself first, tears streaming down her face. "My brother was arrested, which means our family's source of income is gone. Now my mother and second brother want to sell me for dowry money. I have no other choice but to sneak into the city..."

“If you have any difficulties, you can go to the police officers and talk to them. There’s no need to tell us here. I’m here to treat patients and save lives, not to deal with family matters.”

Liao Ping replied coldly, "Your brother has committed serious crimes. He has several lives on his hands and will never be released. He has tarnished the school's reputation and has already been expelled. What good will it do you to come to us?"

She went to them to play the victim and see if they would help her.

Zhang Taoyi is, in essence, a very selfish person.

Like the Zhang family, she enjoys pushing people to the brink of despair and then washing her hands of the matter cleanly.

Zhang Taoyi knew perfectly well that Zhang Fuyi was incapable, yet she still came to him asking for money. If she hadn't been truly forced into this situation, Zhang Fuyi would never have come up with such a risky plan.

Ultimately, Zhang Fuyi's tragedy was caused by his entire family; no one was innocent.
