Chapter 33: The Fight Began

The Mu family.

After setting a wedding date with the Su family, Mu Jingwan locked herself in her room, refusing to eat, drink, or see anyone.

Ning Guizhi felt sorry for her precious daughter who was so distraught, and wished she could marry in place of Jingwan.

If the other party were an exceptionally outstanding person, that would be fine, but Ning Guizhi didn't even consider her future son-in-law.

My daughter is clearly a beautiful flower stuck in cow dung.

Ning Guizhi secretly shed many tears. Now that the crisis at Mu's father's factory has been resolved, he has been feeling much more relaxed lately.

The most important thing for the family now is to arrange their daughter's wedding; nothing else matters.

Mu's father wasn't crying like the mother and daughter; this was a wedding, not a funeral.

Instead of sleeping late at night, Ning Guizhi started crying again, and her father scolded her unhappily.

"It's understandable that my daughter is too young to understand, but how come you, who are so old, still can't figure it out?"

"What do you want me to understand?"

Ning Guizhi felt that this was all his fault for being incompetent.

If he, as the head of the family, could protect his daughter, would she even have to get married?

"You really are heartless! Your daughter is about to marry into the Su family, and you can't even make me cry!"

Ning Guizhi felt even worse!

"Look at the kind of person you chose for our daughter! Don't you think you've wronged her!"

"Feeling wronged?" Mu's father was so angry at her words that he laughed.

“Guizhi, if it were before our family had this accident, your daughter might not even be good enough for the Su family.”

Mu's father was not voluntarily taking advantage of the situation; he was simply telling the truth.

“The Su family is willing to marry our daughter at this critical juncture. Our family should be burning incense and praying to Buddha. We should be overjoyed. Why are you crying?”

Who are the Su family?

The market value of his family's businesses is approaching or even surpasses that of the richest person in China.

It has a very promising future, and it's a good thing to be related to the Su family by marriage.

“If our family is ruined, our daughter will only be able to marry an ordinary man, and the two of them will live a miserable life. Don’t you understand the saying that poverty makes a couple miserable in every way?”

You absolutely cannot do without money.

"No matter how good you are, it all boils down to your business."

Ning Guizhi, however, cared more about her daughter.

"What you eat, what you wear, what our family uses, and what we live in—can we manage without money?"

Mu's father thought she was just a woman with a narrow mind.

"Alright, the marriage between our two families is a done deal anyway, so stop overthinking it and just have a happy wedding for our daughter."

Only the Su family could stand up to Liu Xu.

There's nothing we can do about it.

Ning Guizhi hated Hua Xiuyun even more.

Ultimately, this matter is still her problem.

They had arranged a marriage between their two families when they were children, but her son turned around and married someone else.

This directly harmed her daughter.

When I find the right opportunity, I will definitely get my revenge.

"What will happen to our daughter's school after we get married?" My husband's family lives in Beijing, and the school is in the south. We can't just live apart, can we?

Ning Guizhi was equally concerned about this matter.

"It mainly depends on how the young couple discusses it. I think it doesn't matter whether they go to school or not."

Marriage is the most important thing.

Ning Guizhi opened her mouth, still feeling it was a pity.

My daughter worked so hard to get into university, and now we're just going to let it go like this?

She sighed, feeling utterly distressed; nothing seemed to go right.

"..." Mu Jingwan, who was standing outside the door, heard these words clearly.

The marriage is ruined.

Now even my future is going to be ruined.

Mu Jingwan was powerless to do anything.

In contrast, Lin Zhaoyue is about to be admitted to Beijing Medical University and will marry the man she loves.

This woman stole her most precious thing!

Mu Jingwan clenched her fists.

"..."

The compound.

"Hey! Did you know? Captain Jiang's new wife, Comrade Lin, and Fang Leiluo have been having an affair for a long time!"

"What? What? Get your answer straight, stop joking around!"

"What did you say? I've made my meaning so clear, and you still don't understand!"

"No way... Does Captain Jiang know?"

"He probably doesn't know. What man would want a woman who isn't clean?"

"I knew it! There couldn't possibly be nothing between Fang Leiluo and Comrade Lin."

"..." Ren Zhaodi returned from grocery shopping with her basket and overheard her neighbors whispering among themselves.

His face immediately turned pale with anger!

She threw the potatoes from her shopping basket at a group of gossipy old women.

"Ouch! Who's throwing things like that?!" the auntie who was hit yelled.

"Your great-aunt threw it!"

Ren Zhaodi put her hands on her hips and said, "What nonsense are you spouting here! Spreading rumors about my man, are you all tired of living? I think you're all just bored and have nothing better to do, so get out of here! If I hear anything else, I'll tear your mouths apart."

"Hmph, you're no better than me. You're probably the one who broke them up!"

"Exactly! How could Fang Leiluo have married you? He has absolutely no manners!"

"This isn't just something we spread around here; everyone in the compound knows it now!"

"If you're so capable, go settle accounts with everyone in the compound. What kind of capability is it to go crazy at us?"

"..." Ren Zhaodi couldn't stand it, so she threw down her vegetable basket and rushed over to fight with several old women!

Ren Zhaodi, after all, was no match for four hands.

In addition, the other side had all "trained".

Ren Zhaodi, being young, didn't gain any advantage; instead, she was scratched so badly that a patch of her scalp was bald, and her face was bruised and swollen.
