36? I'm sorry.

36. I'm sorry.

Yu Chun smashed out all the dozen or so tubes of lubricant from the storage compartment, the plastic packaging making a rustling sound between his fingers.

When the last one hit Chu Xiao's shoulder and bounced away silently, Yu Chun's palm had already left a crescent-shaped nail mark.

His fury did not subside after the furious smashing; instead, it burned even more fiercely in his chest.

The genuine leather seat cushions gleamed with a well-maintained sheen under the overhead light, but those unseen, ambiguous marks transformed into invisible blades, piercing deeply into Yu Chun's eyes.

He felt a spasm in his stomach, and he pushed open the car door abruptly, limping as he tried to rush out.

Chu Xiao was caught off guard and hit all over the face.

She disdainfully tossed aside a tube of lubricant that had fallen on her head, turned around with a bewildered look, and saw Yu Chun had already opened the car door and was leaning halfway out.

"Are you crazy?!" Chu Xiao's heart stopped—

She gripped Yu Chun's wrist with her left hand like an iron clamp, pulling him back with force, while simultaneously slamming the car door shut with her right hand.

Without the boss reminding him, the driver in the front seat quickly locked the car door and continued to pretend he didn't exist without saying a word.

Yu Chun stumbled into a familiar embrace, the fragrance of osmanthus wafting towards her.

The scent that once brought him peace of mind now made him feel nauseous.

A sudden surge of acid rose in his throat, and he ruthlessly elbowed Chu Xiao in the ribs.

Chu Xiao gripped Yu Chun's slender waist with his left hand to prevent her from breaking free, and with his right hand, as he blocked Yu Chun's elbow strike, he used his knuckles to forcefully lock Yu Chun's wrist.

Yu Chun's hands were tied behind her back, her waist was pressed down, and her legs were injured and she couldn't lift them. Chu Xiao pressed her firmly into the seat, making her unable to move. She was still unwilling to give up and planned to bite him.

Chu Xiao turned her head to avoid Yu Chun's gaping maw.

Looking at Yu Chun struggling violently beneath her, she realized for the first time that the enraged Yu Chun was harder to control than a pig during the Lunar New Year.

Fearing that Yu Chun might accidentally hurt herself if she resisted again, Chu Xiao quickly explained, "You misunderstood, I'm not a scumbag."

Upon hearing this, Yu Chun indeed stopped struggling.

The evidence is conclusive, yet she remains unfazed; this woman is truly shameless.

The lubricant in the car door storage compartment wasn't something she used with other people in the car; was it just for decoration?

He wanted to hear what this shameless woman had to say in her excuses.

Yu Chun coldly questioned, "What's with all this lubricant in the car?"

Chu Xiao honestly confessed: "I just got it prescribed by your attending physician this afternoon, and I was planning to give it to you."

Seeing that Yu Chun was still skeptical, she released her grip on Yu Chun's hand and took out Director Sun's handwritten prescription from her pocket.

Yu Chun took the prescription sheet folded into a square, unfolded it, and was met with a messy mess of writing. Although Director Sun had written in fancy characters, he couldn't understand a single word.

He looked at Chu Xiao with a suspicious expression.

Could this woman have just given him some prescription he couldn't understand to fool him?

Chu Xiao then took out the prescription printed by the pharmacy from her pocket.

Yu Chun glanced at the neat and orderly floral pattern on the list and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Finally, there's something he can understand!

He casually picked up a bottle of lubricant from the ground and checked the order form word by word.

Yu Chun meticulously checked the lubricant's name, dosage, prescription date, and issuing unit to confirm that it was prescribed by Chu Xiao at the hospital that afternoon.

Chu Xiao looked down and saw the boy in her arms holding a prescription, his delicate face serious as he checked it. Anyone who didn't know better would think he was reviewing the terms of some major project. Chu Xiao couldn't help but feel a pang of tenderness.

She gently patted the boy's head: "There's no one else around me."

Yu Chun's anger subsided, but she remained defiant: "What does it matter to me who's around you?"

Chu Xiao raised an eyebrow and asked, "Then what were you angry about just now?"

Yu Chun was stumped by the question.

Yeah? Why was he angry just now?

Even if Chu Xiao really is with someone else... what does it have to do with him?

The two were neither a couple nor had they made any additional agreements, so what right did he have to be angry?

Yu Chun slumped down and stuffed the prescription back into Chu Xiao's pocket, then bent down and silently picked up the lubricant that had been scattered everywhere.

A long, strong hand stopped him.

Chu Xiao pressed Yu Chun back into her seat, picked up the lubricant herself, and threw it all into the trash can.

After cleaning up the lubricant on the ground, she took the prescription out of her pocket, crumpled it up, and threw it into the trash can.

Seeing Chu Xiao's actions, Yu Chun felt inexplicably uneasy: "Why are you throwing it away? Didn't you say it was for me to use?"

Chu Xiao gave Yu Chun a deep look: "I'm sorry."

Yu Chun panicked even more: "Why are you apologizing to me?"

Chu Xiao turned her head away and remained silent.
