Chapter 11 The Four-Eyed Ugly Monster

Zhou Xinya was doing cheerleading exercises in the living room along with the TV, while Sun Lifang was standing on the bed pulling out a travel bag that was on top of the cabinet.

With a "thud," it was sent into freefall.

She lifted the partition and pulled out a file bag containing several small notebooks and two cards. The 100,000 yuan inside was their entire fortune.

At this time, Zhou Yunshi's career was just starting to take off, he had many friends, and people invited him to dinner and drinks every day. Orders for his factory kept coming in and he found a market.

Sun Lifang knows her husband well; he is loyal and loves to show off. He lives in a house provided by his work unit and gives money for household expenses at fixed times.

I spend as much as I have and haven't saved any money at all.

Sun Lifang knew that Zhou Yunshi would become richer and richer in the future, but Sun Lifang couldn't wait, and neither could their daughter.

She now wants her daughter to study in Haicheng. Zhou Xinya has never attended kindergarten, has no academic records, and has no direct admission to any school. The only way for her to attend school is to buy a house in a good school district.

The car bought with that 100,000 yuan was borrowed by my brother-in-law for his wedding. He said he only bought it to show off to his mother-in-law and to make a good impression.

She even dragged her husband into it, saying that he also needed a car for business entertainment, and with his mother's "eldest brother is like a father" rhetoric, he had no choice but to buy one.

It cost 100,000 yuan when it was bought, but Sun Lifang sat on it less than once before her brother-in-law borrowed it and didn't return it for two years.

The car started depreciating as soon as it left the factory. Over the years, Sun Lifang has been wondering what she actually bought with 100,000 yuan.

Face? Favor? Good reputation?

Not one of them was spared.

This 100,000 yuan could have changed many things, reduced conflicts in life, and even cured my daughter's pseudomyopia.

But it wasn't until their daughter was called in as a parent that they realized how badly nearsighted she was. How could a child be 500 degrees nearsighted at such a young age?

But that was the reality. In addition, she had just given birth to her second child and didn't have any money, so she just casually got her daughter a pair of glasses.

What could have been cured as pseudomyopia developed into true myopia. Later, she told Sun Lifang that because of her thick, "bottle-bottom" glasses, everyone called her "four-eyed ugly freak," and she had no friends. While other students could play soccer and jump rope in PE class, she couldn't.

When she was in the countryside, she told her grandparents that no one cared, but when she came to Haicheng, she was afraid that Sun Lifang would think she was being nosy, so she didn't dare to say anything.

Having a pair of glasses to wear is good enough.

Her breakfast was always cold, and she shouldn't even dream of anyone picking her up from school.

So when Zhou Xinya grew up, she thought about leaving home far away; she didn't need her family.

Sun Lifang initially thought her daughter was being pretentious. Who didn't grow up like that? If she had lived the same life as her daughter when she was a child, she would have been overjoyed! Back then, she would have been lucky if her books hadn't been torn up and thrown into the pit as firewood!

But when she took her son to early childhood education classes and studied psychology, she realized the importance of the family environment. A child's sense of security largely comes from their family, and a lack of security can make them distrustful of others.

This may be why my daughter is dating but not getting married; she can't trust others.

Zhou Xinya was watching TV, following the "Lollipop Sister" backbend and doing dance moves, her little face flushed from the heat.

"Yaya, how about we go to the hospital tomorrow?"

Zhou Xinya pushed herself up and stood up, looking at Sun Lifang anxiously: "Is Mom feeling unwell?"

Sun Lifang felt a tightness in her chest. Ever since she woke up, her daughter had been concerned about her first in everything, big or small, even though she was the mother.

“No, we’re taking you to see an eye doctor.” Sun Lifang blinked back her tears and smiled as she said, “But you have to tell your mother about the situation first.”

When did it start to blur? How long has it been blurry?

Zhou Xinya immediately turned off the TV and waved her hand to explain, "No need to go to the hospital, I won't watch TV anymore."

"Silly child, it's not because of the TV." Sun Lifang realized that the more she explained, the worse it got, so she reassured her daughter, "Once your eyes are better, Mom will send you to learn to dance."

I'll find a good dance school for my daughter.

My daughter loves to dance and is very talented; she can learn many of the moves just by watching TV.

This seemed strange to Sun Lifang, and she even asked her husband about it. Neither of their ancestors had been involved in the arts, yet Zhou Xinya had taught herself to choreograph and compose music, becoming completely absorbed in it. They couldn't let their daughter's talent go to waste in this life.

Sun Lifang was filled with worry and tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. During her two-hour nap, she was fully conscious, but the image of Zhou Xinya as an adult kept appearing in her mind.

Zhou Yunshi didn't return until he was hungry.

He placed the key on the glass surface of the coffee table. Sun Lifang hesitated for a moment before stepping out of the room and saw her husband, who was about twenty years younger than her.

Zhou Yunshi was very handsome. Before her eldest daughter was born, Sun Lifang was always worried that someone would try to steal him away. The competition was fierce, with several women pursuing him.

He was good-looking, capable, and humorous, which made him very popular with girls, including her later on.

Zhou Yunshi tossed his bag onto the sofa, leaned back, and began to doze off. With his eyes half-closed, he called out to her, "Wife, make me a bowl of noodles."

Sun Lifang didn't bother with him, but after Zhou Yunshi finished speaking, he took out a square box from his pocket, placed it on the coffee table, and pushed it forward.

I covered my eyes with my hands and was about to fall asleep.

Before Sun Lifang could speak, the light in the center of the living room went out, and she turned to look at her daughter.

Afraid of disturbing her father's rest, she quickly found a small blanket and covered him with it.

Sun Lifang clicked her tongue. One central air conditioning unit wasn't enough for her family, and now she had a baby.

"Go to sleep, I'll go make you a bowl of noodles."

He scooped a lump of lard from the jar of soy sauce, heated it, fried two eggs, and then rinsed it with water and sweet soy sauce. Zhou Yunshi usually drank alcohol and entertained clients. After a big meal, eating a bowl of this made his stomach feel especially comfortable.
