Chapter 19 Best Friends Partnership

Sun Lifang was awakened by the aroma of food.

The living room dining table was clinking and clattering, and her daughter's laughter could be heard. She pushed open the door and paused for a moment.

Li Zhi's wife?

The driver, Li Zhi, was from the same hometown as them. His father died early, and his mother raised him alone. When he was seventeen or eighteen, he was a well-known "good-for-nothing" in the village.

Naïve and fearless, he drifted around for a few more years without any prospects. Through a family introduction, he married his current wife, Jiang Meimei.

Jiang Meimei is a good daughter-in-law in the traditional sense. She is quiet, respectful to the elderly, and most importantly, no dowry is required when she is married.

Why not ask for a bride price?

When Jiang Meimei was a child, she accidentally fell off a high stool and broke her leg. Even now, she walks with a limp and uneven feet.

In addition, Li Zhi had a bad reputation, so no matchmakers were willing to introduce him to anyone. He had no choice but to marry Jiang Meimei, which he accepted.

Later, he found a job under Zhou Yunshi. He was quick-witted, and within two years, Li Zhi was practically Zhou Yunshi's assistant, a minor leader who was very influential wherever he went.

"You're awake?" Jiang Mei's face flushed red, and she whispered, "Last time you said... I..."

Sun Lifang sat down, thinking about that matter.

In order to find out about Zhou Yunshi's mistress, Sun Lifang did not go directly to Li Zhi, but instead asked Jiang Meimei first.

After her son became successful, Li Zhi's mother looked down on her lame daughter-in-law.

Sun Lifang asked Jiang Meimei, "Would you be willing to come to my house and help take care of the children?"

He paused, then added, "I contacted you on my own initiative, and I will explain it to Li Zhi."

With no worries about the future, Jiang Meimei naturally agreed. Her son was a little over a year old and was being looked after by her mother-in-law. She was breastfeeding while enduring her mother-in-law's difficult behavior, and she also wanted to have her own income.

Even though the factory provided meals, her mother-in-law seemed afraid that she would be idle at home, so she instructed her to make soup at home every day and then send it to Li Zhi to nourish his body. Therefore, she also knew that President Zhou was keeping a "little family" outside.

Li Zhi didn't explain in detail to her, but she was a woman too. After Sun Lifang approached her and extended an olive branch, she weighed her options and finally gave her the address.

"Yes, thank you for your hard work."

Sun Lifang was surprised that Zhou Yunshi had figured out the whole story so quickly and even helped her call the person over.

Stubborn on the outside but soft on the inside.

With Jiang Meimei as a helper, Sun Lifang felt at ease leaving her daughter at home.

After checking the time, I took a taxi to the road that Lu Hua would definitely take to the bank, and waited for Lu Hua and Kong Xiang to meet up.

Not long after arriving, Lu Hua's figure could be seen in the distance.

Sun Lifang quickly went to greet her, smiling broadly, "I'll go with you. Having more friends means having more options."

You can't hit someone who's smiling, and with her husband's encouragement yesterday, Lu Hua forced a smile and let Sun Lifang stay by her side.

The agreed-upon location was a milk tea shop across from the bank. The cool air conditioning felt very comfortable, and seeing the familiar surroundings improved Lu Hua's mood considerably.

"What would you like to drink?" Lu Hua couldn't contain his excitement at the thought of meeting his friend. "The coconut milk jelly at this shop is pretty good. I used to order it all the time when I was in college."

Lu Hua continued talking to himself, explaining that the reason he chose this place was because the shop was full of memories.

Knowing that Sun Lifang was pregnant, Lu Hua thoughtfully went to the bar to order juice for her. The shop was very busy, and every table was full except for theirs.

Across from the milk tea shop is a university, and there are office buildings nearby. When Sun Lifang looked out, she couldn't help but see a "familiar face".

Someone I met just yesterday.

The man noticed her gaze, and the two looked at each other for a moment.

Immediately afterwards, the woman looked up at the sign, pushed open the door, and walked in.

"Xiangxiang, it's been a long time!" A joyful exclamation pulled Sun Lifang back to reality.

In Lu Hua's description, her best friend Kong Xiang was indifferent to fame and fortune, practically a fairy untouched by worldly affairs.

Sun Lifang couldn't connect Kong Xiang with the arrogant, foul-mouthed woman from yesterday.

Kong Xiang was still wearing the same dress as yesterday, and her expression was somewhat unnatural. After sitting down, Lu Hua was the only one making excited remarks.

After chatting for a while, they got down to business. Lu Hua looked around and carefully took out a card from his bag. "Here's 50,000 yuan. I won't charge you interest."

Kong Xiang didn't answer, shook her head, and said with some melancholy, "Rent and utilities are expensive now. I saw a shop a while ago, the location is great, and the owner is immigrating and urgently needs to transfer the lease, so the price is very low. I'm tempted. Back in college, I told you I wanted to open a clothing store someday, and you even praised my aesthetic sense and design skills. Now I have this opportunity. Hua Hua, do you know? My husband doesn't earn much money right now. We scraped together the money to buy that school district house for our child's schooling. His salary is only enough to pay the monthly mortgage. We can manage now, but what about later? What will happen to my child?"

"What do you think of our company?" Lu Hua asked in return, extending an olive branch.

Kong Xiang said, "I don't want to be a burden to you, and I also have my own dreams. If I don't pursue them now, I'm afraid it will be too late."

Upon hearing this, Lu Hua knew that Kong Xiang had made up her mind. She glanced at Sun Lifang beside her and asked, "How much money do you want?"

Kong Xiang took a deep breath: "1 million."

"Huh?" Sun Lifang, who was watching from the sidelines, couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

This guy is really bold. You can buy several houses with a million dollars these days, right? What kind of business would cost a million dollars?

Lu Hua thought so too. She kept all her money in savings accounts such as stocks and funds, and also had some liquid assets, which added up to about this amount.

Can I lend it to her? Does that mean I don't need to support myself?

Taking a deep breath, Lu Hua said bluntly, "Are you crazy? Kong Xiang, the most I can lend you is 100,000!"
