Chapter 22 Gift Giving

Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Lu Hua and his wife tactfully took their leave.

The little guy was seeing the night view of Haicheng for the first time and was very happy. He rolled down the car window, and his hair danced in the wind.

"Don't stick your head out, it's dangerous," Sun Lifang said, turning to the side and behind her. "Fasten your seatbelt."

"good"

The family rode in the car, but the parents remained silent. Zhou Xinya gradually quieted down, looking at this and then at that. The carriage was silent and oppressive.

"I left you some food, did you see it?" Sun Lifang said, looking for trouble.

"Um."

Seeing this, Sun Lifang continued, "Originally, I didn't want to get involved, but they came to my door at night. Since they took the initiative to come to me, I couldn't just refuse them..."

"Get to the point."

The atmosphere seemed to become even more tense, and Sun Lifang was somewhat confused. "What's the key point?"

"Tell me what you bought at the hospital." His tone carried a hint of gritted teeth.

Sun Lifang glanced at his expression and realized what was going on.

I was afraid you would worry.

"What can I do if I'm worried?" After passing a stop, Zhou Yunshi parked the car on the side of the road and asked in a deep voice, "You keep saying that there shouldn't be any secrets between family members, and that I shouldn't take you for a fool, but what have you done yourself?"

Zhou Yunshi was holding his breath. When he returned home today, he was greeted by an empty house. Who knows how panicked he was? No one was there in the middle of the night, and he even made up such a lame excuse.

“I…” Sun Lifang was at a loss for words.

She hadn't expected Zhou Yunshi to care so much.

The car started again, and Sun Lifang lowered her eyes, like a primary school student who had made a mistake.

"I'm sorry, I promise I won't do it again." Sun Lifang tried to ignore her daughter in the back seat, her cheeks burning. She took a deep breath and said quickly, "Can you forgive me? Otherwise, you can punish me, I'll do anything!"

"Mommy, how will Daddy punish you?" Zhou Xinya asked, peeking out with her little head.

Sun Lifang hadn't thought of that, but when she turned her head, she heard the man chuckle. Inevitably, she blushed and scolded, "Why are you asking so many questions, you little kid?"

"Is it okay?" Zhou Yunshi asked her.

"No way." Sun Lifang refused angrily, but sensing the pleasure of the person beside her, she added softly, "It hasn't been three months yet."

"Heh." Zhou Yunshi turned the steering wheel, a half-smile on his face, and said, "What are you thinking about?"

Before his daughter could interject again, Zhou Yunshi said, "There's a gathering in a couple of days, do you have time?"

Sun Lifang bit her lower lip and nodded.

She dislikes attending parties, always feeling she has nothing to say to those people, clinging to the traditional idea that men should be the breadwinners and women should stay at home, and is too lazy to engage with them.

Having been given a second chance at life, she wanted to give it a try.

.

Sun Lifang was unsure.

Some even regretted agreeing so hastily.

"Why did I have to act impulsively?" Sun Lifang lay on the sofa, covered her face with a cushion, and sighed deeply.

For no other reason than that she had nothing to talk about with those people.

The day before her birthday, Zhou Yunshi told Sun Lifang, "Remember to prepare a birthday present. I'll have someone pick you up then."

The CEO of the partner company, who is in his early forties, never celebrates his birthday. This time, he suddenly held a grand birthday celebration, which was actually to introduce his fiancée.

The other party is a female teacher at an art school. She is young, beautiful, and comes from a scholarly family. The two are a perfect match.

What's most unusual is that Mr. Li, the partner, is getting married for the first time.

Sun Lifang was shocked to hear this; she was over forty when she got married?

“Successful people usually establish their careers before starting a family.” Sun Lifang rolled her eyes inwardly at Zhou Yunshi’s words, thinking to herself that he had just had enough fun when he was young.

Zhou Yunshi was going out to inspect projects in the next couple of days, and Sun Lifang packed his change of clothes, even packing a set of bed sheets and duvet covers for him in his suitcase. As she zipped up the suitcase, she couldn't help but ask, "Have you always done this before?"

What kind of man is this obsessive about cleanliness?!

"You can leave it there for now, I'll come over later."

Zhou Yunshi was looking at documents, with a huge pile of project materials in front of him. Hearing Sun Lifang's voice, he looked up and adjusted his glasses.

"It's all packed." Sun Lifang felt embarrassed for interrupting Zhou Yunshi while he was working. She put the suitcase in the living room, feeling annoyed.

I'm so bad at speaking!

Although Zhou Yunshi's obsession with cleanliness is troublesome, there are advantages to it.

She wanted to know something else entirely.

Sun Lifang had heard that excessive cleanliness is a psychological problem related to one's upbringing.

Zhou Yunshi was slightly nearsighted, and his framed glasses added to his refined and scholarly air. He was shrewd, capable, kind, and filial. Looking away, Sun Lifang couldn't figure out what had happened to make Zhou Yunshi so obsessive about cleanliness.

She doesn't seem to understand her husband very well.

"What should I give as a gift?" Sun Lifang muttered to herself.

She's never even given her husband a gift, so why is she picking out a gift for a strange man? It's odd. Why doesn't Zhou Yunshi prepare one himself?

Sun Lifang racked her brains trying to think of a solution, and only after Zhou Yunshi turned off the living room lights and came in did she finally ask the question.

Hearing her question, Zhou Yunshi suddenly smiled, his tone relaxed: "Why do you think that is?"

Sun Lifang glared at her, "If I knew, would I be asking you?"

As he lay down, Zhou Yunshi patted his empty hands and said bluntly, "Even a skilled cook can't make a meal without rice."

The money was all in the bank card and given to Sun Lifang.

"So what gift do you think I should give?"

Sun Lifang simply returned the problem to Zhou Yunshi; if she couldn't figure it out, she was sure she'd have insomnia.

Zhou Yunshi thought for a moment and said, "Don't you like buying clothes? If all else fails, you can go to the mall and pick out something that a woman likes; you can't go wrong with that."

Are you sending clothes?
