Chapter 257 Give Me Five Years

After bringing Sister Miao home, the first thing to do was to arrange a place for her to stay.

Fortunately, Zhou Yunshi, as a partner, was "allocated" a four-bedroom, two-living-room apartment by the company. After deducting a study, there was actually one room left.

"Let's pack up and stay for a couple of days."

The room was quite clean. It was usually used to store quilts and piles of things, but now all I had to do was move the things away and sweep it up.

Seeing this, Zhou Xinya offered to help, saying, "I'll tidy up the toys first."

Yes, this room is usually unoccupied; it's the little girl's "secret base."

All sorts of toys were piled under the bed: dolls that had been completely disassembled, a bunch of shiny stickers and accessories, and crayons and watercolor pens scattered all over the floor. The pen casings and bodies no longer matched, and it was common to see red pens with blue caps on them.

Glancing at her mother who wasn't looking over, the girl crouched down and quickly tidied up, all the while keeping an eye out for footsteps, afraid of being discovered by her mother.

Finding a cardboard box, the little girl began cleaning—

They piled everything in, and once it was all piled up, they dragged it back to their own room.

So, Sister Miao moved things back and forth between the two rooms like a "little mouse moving house".

After finally finishing moving everything, Zhou Xinya collapsed on the ground, exhausted. She thought to herself, "The ancients were right. Numbness, grains, and ginger each have their own strengths."

I'm not suited for housework, so I need to find someone to help me.

I'm already so tired of tidying up toys, what will I do when we get a villa with a huge bedroom and a small living room of my own? Who will tidy up for me then?

Relying on Mom is impossible—

My mom is even lazier than me.

So who can we rely on?

Climbing onto the living room sofa, pressing her face against it, and taking a couple of sips of her drink, Zhou Xinya began planning her free labor—

Tong Beibei is okay, but she's too nagging; she has to ask before doing anything, which is annoying.

Guo Zhimeng went home for the Chinese New Year, so we can't count on her.

That leaves Du Yuheng and Jin Ziduo as choices.

but!

"Do I really want them to know how useless I am?"

Can't even do housework?

Zhou Xinya still has some idol image to maintain, and after thinking it over, she decided to declutter some things, otherwise she would have to move too much later.

The two little ones are now resting on her bed. Sister Miao is tidying up the room where Zhou Xinya just stayed and is ordering her around, "Yaya, you watch over your younger brother and sister."

As she watched, Zhou Xinya slid off the sofa with a thud. She didn't want to go, but she was also worried about whether they would wake up, or miss their mother...

Speaking of her mother, Zhou Xinya glanced back at the tightly closed master bedroom door, wrinkled her little nose, and said, "Hmph, does it take adults this long to find something?"

It's like this child was born to me. Except when I'm breastfeeding, I send the baby to my mother, and the rest of the time the baby is either with Sister Miao or right in front of me.

Taking off her shoes and climbing into her own bed, Zhou Xinya lay down next to the babies, turning her head to gently embrace them. "Ah, they smell so good."

It's small and soft, just like water.

Thinking of this, Zhou Xinya got up again and touched their little feet. When she compared them in her hand, they were incredibly small.

I wonder when they'll get shoes to wear.

After covering the three children with the blankets again, Zhou Xinya felt a sense of shared misfortune as the three children lay together.

The three poor children depended on each other and relied on their own efforts to survive.

Their parents, on the other hand, are always together, hugging and cuddling.

Reaching out from under the covers, Zhou Xinya gently pinched the babies' tiny feet and whispered to them, "From now on, you'll be relying on me—"

"Although I can't be relied on either, I'm still better than your parents."

At least I still let you guys sleep!

(Nanny) Zhou Xinya covered herself with the blanket and began her day's task of putting the baby to sleep.

......

In the bedroom, Sun Lifang was thinking about the plan her husband had mentioned—

Work hard, retire at 35 and live your own life.

Sun Lifang is 28 years old this year, while Zhou Yunshi has just turned 30. He said, "Give me five years to arrange everything, and then we'll live our own lives."

Retire at 35? Isn't that too early?

Sun Lifang was about to say she would think about it when her neck was pressed down, and a large hand touched the back of her neck. The man bent over, staring at her with deep eyes and asked, "Is it okay?"

So, the words were on the tip of my tongue, but I couldn't say them.

The only solution is to try a different approach—

"Don't you want to work?" Sun Lifang said half-jokingly. "What kind of man stays at home unemployed at 35? You—"

"Then will you dislike me?" Suddenly, Zhou Yunshi asked a completely unrelated question, interrupting the woman's train of thought.

"Just because everyone does it, does that mean I have to do it too?"

In Zhou Yunshi's view, work is just a way to obtain money, resources, and a sense of accomplishment.

But winning too many times and the frequent social interactions made him feel bored and lost his life.

"Do you still remember your childhood dreams?" the man asked his wife, a smile playing on his lips. "What kind of life did you want to live when you were little?"

Life, huh? Following her husband's train of thought, Sun Lifang remembered—

All she wanted at the time was to get into a good university, find a good job, and, if possible, have a happy family.

What does Zhou Yunshi mean?

That's right, the man told her, "I spent 15 years studying and 15 years accumulating wealth. Now I'm 30 years old, and I want to live a different life from now on."

Having spent the first half of his life struggling to make ends meet, Zhou Yunshi now wants to spend the second half traveling and enjoying life with his wife, doing something meaningful not for money.

Life is finite, and money can never be fully earned. Wouldn't it be wonderful to not pursue a high ranking on the wealth list, but to live a leisurely life in the middle?

After some guidance, Sun Lifang felt that she had been persuaded.

No matter how hard they try, they can't possibly make it onto the Forbes rich list, just like an author can't win the Nobel Prize in Literature no matter how hard they try. Of course, there's a chance, but when it comes to themselves, it's close to zero.

Why not write something you want to write?

Do you dare say that you can become a billionaire just by studying and working hard?

Favorable timing, advantageous location, and harmonious relationships are all indispensable.

Zhou Yunshi has already accumulated a certain amount of wealth. What he needs to do next is preserve its value and then entrust the money to professional private equity firms for investment.

In this way, the dividends and interest alone would be more than enough to spend.

So, the man asks his wife, "Is it okay?"

"Why are you asking me?" Sun Lifang chuckled. "Whether you work or not is your decision. Do you think I'd force you to work?"

That's not possible, but the man told her, "I'm afraid you won't come with me."

Being alone is fine, but he wants his wife to be with him.

"We are one, and you must always remember that I am the only one who will be with you until the end."

Listen, someone is brainwashing us again.

Sun Lifang smiled and nodded, "I know, I know."

We'll grow old together, I've said it over and over again.

They didn't find it troublesome at all.
