Chapter 27 A Powerful Backer

Li Xian approached from a distance, his expression more serious than Du Qiaozhi had ever seen before. A chill ran through her, and Du Qiaozhi quickly said, "It's a misunderstanding, it's all a misunderstanding. You don't know, she was the one who bullied me first."

"Bullying?" Li Xian asked in a low voice, his face grim.

"Brother-in-law... it's me." Du Qiaozhi drawled, looking utterly pitiful.

The commotion drew the attention of everyone around. Li suppressed his anger and turned to Sun Lifang, saying, "I'm sorry, she was being immature and causing you trouble. I'll apologize to you later and punish her properly."

"I don't.."

Du Qiaozhi was interrupted by Li Xian's gaze, and she pouted and lowered her head.

"What happened? Why is everyone gathered here?"

The curly-haired woman who had just pulled Du Qiaozhi away rushed over, calling out from a great distance in a loudspeaker-like voice.

They successfully attracted the guests who had left back.

Li Xian: "It's nothing, I just came over to say hello and get to know you."

As soon as she finished speaking, a few tears fell to the ground with a patter. The girl, who had been looking down, seemed to have suffered a great injustice and rushed towards the curly-haired woman, crying, "Mom..."

Sun Lifang was startled and instinctively took a step back.

She had no intention of getting involved in this mess.

"Did you talk nonsense!" The curly-haired woman saw Sun Lifang, thought for a moment, and came to a conclusion, "So it was you, you gossipy woman, who did this."

"Mom, that's not how it is," Li Xian quickly explained, because he had received kindness from his mother-in-law and always respected her.

Du Qiaozhi looked up, sobbing, and handed over the gift box in her hand. She took a deep breath before saying, "It's alright. It was my fault for disturbing the guests."

Seeing this, the curly-haired woman didn't dare to glare at her son-in-law, but turned her head and glared fiercely at Sun Lifang.

Sun Lifang: "..."

Du Qiaozhi wiped away her tears, opened the gift box and said, "I know today is my brother-in-law's birthday, so I prepared two gifts. One is a watch, and the other is a wedding gift for my sister. I really consider you family."

She paused, as if making a major decision, "But you treat outsiders better than you treat me, and you yell at me in front of others. I know I'm not popular, so this is the last time I'll call you brother-in-law."

The box was opened, and inside was a beautiful red crystal necklace.

Tonight's game was also a last-minute idea. Preparing two gifts without prior notice proved her kindness and loyalty. In this situation, it was someone else who made the mistake.

The scene erupted in commotion, and Sun Lifang became the culprit.

With her arms crossed, Sun Lifang looked at the girl who was crying uncontrollably and suddenly remembered the TV series she and her daughter used to watch together in the hospital room.

This kind of person who pretends to be weak even when they've done something wrong, who twists the truth and cries to gain sympathy, isn't that the legendary "green tea"?

My daughter said she has a very straightforward personality, speaks loudly and is fiery, and that only a woman like a "green tea" (a manipulative woman) would make people feel sorry for her.

Just like now, the onlookers instinctively felt that Sun Lifang must have bullied someone, and the curly-haired woman's eyes were filled with hatred as if she wanted to devour her.

Li Xian's expression suddenly darkened, and he called out to the girl by her full name, "Du Qiaozhi!"

"Is this all I taught you?" Li Xian's eyes darkened, and he lowered his voice: "Apologize to Madam Zhou here!"

"How dare you talk to Qiaoqiao like that?" The curly-haired woman, embarrassed, rushed forward.

Knowing that communication was impossible, Li Xian nodded to Sun Lifang, then turned and walked out expressionlessly, dragging one of them by each hand.

The curly-haired woman pressed her advantage, twisting her plump body to break free but to no avail. She pinched the flesh beneath Li Xian's thin shirt, her voice sharp and grating: "What do you mean? Why are you siding with outsiders? Oh, I get it. Is she the woman you're keeping on the side? Stop and explain yourself. Have you no shame?"

The curly-haired woman was extremely skilled with words, successfully making Li stop in his tracks.

Du Qiaozhi, who didn't have to lift a finger or say a word, stood to one side as if nothing had happened, watching the people in the crowd with schadenfreude.

After thinking for a moment, he ran over like a peacemaker and pulled his mother away.

Sun Lifang had a bad feeling, and sure enough, the curly-haired woman turned around, grabbed her arm, and pulled her forward: "Let's make this clear today. How can you treat my daughter like this?"

"Madam, please show some respect to my wife."

A deep, powerful voice came from above. With a flick of his wrist, he freed Sun Lifang from his clutches, and she naturally nestled into his arms.

Sun Lifang looked up and saw Zhou Yunshi loosening his tie.

The man reeked of alcohol, his neck flushed red, but his expression remained calm.

"I don't need to say more about what Du Qiaozhi did tonight. I didn't want to argue with a child out of respect for President Li, but she has repeatedly challenged my wife's bottom line. You need to explain."

Zhou Yunshi paused, then emphasized, "Besides, I know what kind of person my wife is. What you just said constitutes defamation and slander. Do you understand?"

With someone backing her up, the curly-haired woman felt a little guilty. She made up her mind and gave her son-in-law, Li Xian, a few meaningful glances, but it didn't work.

She then stuck out her neck and shouted, "You were misunderstood and didn't know how to defend yourself? Why didn't you say anything? She's also responsible. Who knows if that's what she really thought?"

In the curly-haired woman's mind, Li Xian was covered in gold, and every woman wanted to get close to him.

"Alright, since that's how it is, let's go to court." Zhou Yunshi took off his suit jacket and held it in his hand, revealing his strong and powerful arm. He narrowed his eyes and said, "This is the first time I've heard of someone being beaten and then blaming the victim for not doing anything. Are you really Mrs. Li's mother?"
