Chapter 31 Mrs. Tong's Little Thoughts

Sun Lifang paused for a moment, then continued walking. "Not now, I have other things to do."

"What's wrong? You haven't eaten yet, have you?" Mao Weiwei asked from the side.

We've been in the hall for so long, and now the food outside has been cleared away. We're giving everyone a good rest during lunchtime, and there's another event tonight.

"I'll have someone cook you something to eat, and I'll bring it over later. Which room are you in?"

The woman wasn't annoyed by her coldness. She smiled and said, "Mrs. Li wants to thank you. Now that she knows your name, she'd like to invite you over. She's also in the design field, so you two should have something to talk about."

With her path blocked, Sun Lifang looked up at the woman in front of her, her gaze deepening.

Throughout, her words were very skillful. After being rejected, she used delaying tactics to ask for the room number, and then offered another bait that was hard for most people to refuse.

Would you refuse to be received by someone at the very top of the pyramid? Mao Weiwei awaited her reply.

"Is Mrs. Li's real name Milan?" Suddenly, the woman in front of her threw out a completely irrelevant question.

Mao smiled slightly: "That's her stage name, Sister Fang. You can just call her Xiao Lan."

The woman's voice carried far in the empty corridor.

Around a corner not far down the corridor, Mrs. Tong squinted and turned back to her husband, asking, "Isn't that Sun Lifang next to Secretary Mao? How could she refuse someone's invitation?"

"Mind your own business, I'm so sleepy, I need to go back to sleep." Mr. Tong, who was full from the meal, leaned against the wall, his overweight body making him look like he could barely stand. "If you're not going back, then I'll go back first."

"Wait a minute, Secretary Mao is going to send her food to her room? Did she make any arrangements for you? There must be something good going on, I have to go check it out!"

"That's impossible! Secretary Mao only cares about money. Who would bother her?"

“What if? Sun Lifang said they also want to move houses. Don’t you think about that?” Mrs. Tong pinched the man’s arm hard, then quickly covered his mouth before he could scream. She said with exasperation, “Do you think you can just move houses with money? They must have other ways to make money.”

As she spoke, the woman pulled the man out from around the corner and walked away.

With Sun Lifang's consent, Li Zhi revealed the room number.

After secretly noting it down, Mao Weiwei looked at Sun Lifang and said, "What would you like to eat? I'll have someone prepare it."

Sun Lifang shook her head, took a deep breath, and looked Mao Weiwei up and down.

"What's wrong?" Mao Weiwei tossed her hair aside, puffed out her proud chest, and glanced at her: "Why are you looking at me like that? It's kind of scary to look at me like that."

Her joke immediately eased the tension.

"It's alright." Sun Lifang was amused by her quick thinking and said, "You haven't had lunch either, have you? Well, I haven't either, so you don't have to make another trip. Let's go eat together."

"Okay." Mao nodded slightly, Sun Lifang's reaction was beyond her expectations.

However, she liked it very much.

Sun Lifang told Li Zhi to go back first, and then the two walked side by side toward the restaurant.

"Wait for me! Don't go!" A shrill female voice came from behind.

Mrs. Tong caught up, panting heavily. She was already overweight and didn't like walking, and now she was dragging a rather large, half-drunk man with her. She finally reached Sun Lifang, completely out of breath.

"I...I...Ugh, I can't take it anymore...Let me catch my breath...Oh my god..." Mrs. Tong leaned against the wall, too exhausted to straighten her back, and patted the man next to her to let him speak first.

Mr. Tong was even more tired than her, so he sat down right there.

"I've finally found you!" Mrs. Tong looked at Sun Lifang with incredibly eager eyes, her words accompanied by her sweaty and panting appearance.

She was exhaling more air than she was inhaling; those unaware of the situation might have thought she had found a long-lost relative.

"Who was in trouble?"

Sun Lifang became a little nervous because of her.

"No, no," Mrs. Tong vehemently denied, waving her hands. She then smiled slightly at Mao and asked, "Where are you going?"

"Have a meal."

Mao Weiwei was in a terrible mood. She even wanted to drag the person in front of her who was talking so heavily and beat them up. What was she doing here causing trouble? She didn't even want to roll her eyes at the person who was hungry.

"Oh, oh, oh." Despite Secretary Mao's sour face, Mrs. Tong did not back down in the slightest, her heart trembling and her hands trembling with excitement.

Sure enough! This is the real Secretary Mao!

She guessed right!

Sun Lifang told Li Zhi to go back first, then turned to Mrs. Tong and said, "We're going to eat. If you have something to say, just say it."

Let alone Secretary Mao, anyone who is starving will be in a bad mood. She no longer wants to fawn over Mrs. Tong, so her expression is naturally not good. She's just throwing caution to the wind and doesn't care what she thinks.

Unexpectedly, Mrs. Tong's smile became even more genuine, and she took her hand in a familiar manner, saying, "Hey, I haven't eaten much either, let's eat together, it's on me."

He had barely finished speaking when he let out a burp.

Sun Lifang: "..."

Li Zhi, who had already walked a few steps, ran back and handed Sun Lifang a room key.

Mrs. Tong shook her head and sighed to herself as she watched Li Zhi walk away in a daze.

That young man isn't very clever.

Staring at the back of the head in front of her, Mrs. Tong was secretly pleased with her own cleverness.

Think about it: deliberately sending Li Zhi away means that even President Zhou didn't know about this, right?

Sun Lifang must have some money-making tricks she's not telling her. Who is Secretary Mao? How could someone as greedy as her treat her like this? The more Mrs. Tong thought about it, the more logically she felt her reasoning was sound.

Absolutely perfect.
