The group arrived at the restaurant. Mao Weiwei picked up the menu, ordered a few dishes with practiced ease, and then handed the menu to Mrs. Tong.
Mrs. Tong: "..."
She couldn't eat anymore; her stomach was already full. She just pretended to order herself a bowl of noodles.
She nudged the man under the table with her leg, her eyes conveying a clear message: "Help me eat some later."
Unfortunately, Mr. Tong started dozing off as soon as he sat down and ignored her completely.
Mrs. Tong kicked him twice more, but the man remained motionless, like a pagoda.
Why aren't you worried at all? Mrs. Tong's expression became increasingly agitated, with her winking and making strange faces.
Suddenly, Mao Weiwei looked over from the opposite side, and she quickly stopped.
"Is there something you want to say to me?" Mao Weiwei asked gently.
"No, why?"
Mrs. Tong was completely bewildered and looked at her with a puzzled expression.
After saying this, he noticed that the woman opposite him had a strange look in her eyes.
"Then why did you kick me?"
The woman's voice was so soft it could drip water, and she spoke each word carefully.
"Huh? What?" Mrs. Tong was shocked. She looked down and felt as if the whole world had turned black.
She kept kicking Secretary Mao's leg!
"Why haven't you moved?" Mrs. Tong asked weakly, her voice growing softer and softer with embarrassment. If there were a hole in the ground, she would rather crawl into it. "I... thought it was a table leg."
Mao turned slightly to the side, but smiled without saying a word.
Seeing that smile, Mrs. Tong felt a chill run down her spine.
Although Secretary Mao is called a secretary, everyone in the circle knows that he is actually the company's second-in-command.
She's not only able to navigate countless drinking parties and snatch numerous deals from men without ever getting away with it, but internally, she's also established performance evaluation systems and ruthlessly dismissed countless people with connections. She's a figure feared throughout the company.
Aside from her formulaic smile, Secretary Mao was expressionless to everyone in private. She had heard her husband describe this sinister expression: "When she has a half-smile, that person will not have a good ending."
Mrs. Tong was on the verge of tears.
I never imagined that one day I would be able to be there in person.
