Chapter 319 Can I Be Your Baby?

When Sun Lifang received Zhao Chengguang's call, Zhou Yunshi had just returned from dropping his daughter off at the hotel.

"Fire! Fire on the twelfth floor!"

I don't know how the fire started. It started with the curtains, and since the room was full of flammable materials, by the time it was discovered, no one could get out.

The "sponge castle" where children used to play has now become the area most severely affected by the fire, blocking the main entrance and preventing people from getting in or out.

Zhao Chengguang was in another room, telling Sun Lifang to quickly contact people outside to help with evacuation. "I've already called the fire department, it's the property management office, why aren't the property security guards here yet?"

In a frantic rush, Zhao Chengguang couldn't trust anyone anymore.

A hypocritical voice came from outside, "Mengmeng, where is Mengmeng?"

"Daddy's here to save you, Mengmeng, respond to Daddy when you hear the voice."

"Fuck your mother!" The indoor temperature was extremely high, and Zhao Chengguang gritted his teeth, wishing he could go out and punch the man a few times, even kill him.

With a suspicion in mind and the temperature extremely high, Zhao Chengguang didn't have time to scold Manager Guo. He could only ask him again and again, "Is the water pipe connected? There's a fire extinguisher on the wall. Try to get in first—"

"Did you hear that? Did you hear me?!"

As the smoke grew thicker, Zhao Chengguang dared not shout anymore, letting the dense smoke enter his lungs and reduce the already limited oxygen levels.

He was drenched in sweat from head to toe, and his feet were slippery when he walked.

After waiting and waiting, listening to Manager Guo's sluggish and indecisive manner outside, a wave of despair swept through my body.

Unable to rely on Manager Guo, Zhao Chengguang called Sun Lifang again.

"Hurry up and come over here. They've been pumping water for over ten minutes and still haven't gotten any up. They say there's no water pressure... The fire is so big, what are they supposed to do without water pressure?"

Are we just waiting to die?

Damn it, when Sun Lifang heard those words, she felt a chill run down her spine. Trying hard to control her emotions, she asked Zhao Chengguang, "Where's Xinya? Is Xinya inside too?"

To avoid leaving her friends feeling lonely, Zhou Xinya told the teacher in advance that she wouldn't eat any snacks so she could save time going home to get her gifts.

"No, Xin Ya isn't here." Zhao Chengguang looked at the half-burned, about-to-collapse sponge tower, took a step back and said, "Manager Guo took Zhou Xin Ya out."

Oh, right, should I take it out?

How could it be such a coincidence?

Why would you save someone else's child instead of your own?

Manager Guo explained, "Mengmeng was sleeping, and I was afraid of disturbing her, so I took Xinya out."

No matter how embellished the excuse, there are still loopholes.

"This isn't the time to think about this, ahhh!" Zhao Chengguang was so anxious he was about to stomp his feet, sweat pouring down his face. "What the hell am I going to do?"

Zhao Chengguang can save Guo Zhimeng.

However, with his self-deprecating remark, "I value my life above all else, and I don't even want to inherit my family's lime factory," still ringing in our ears, how could Zhao Chengguang possibly risk his life to venture into the inferno?

Heroic acts are admirable, but sending a stranger, someone with no relation to them, into a fire to save someone else's child...

To put it simply, Sun Lifang wasn't sure if she dared to go inside, given the raging fire.

This is a very real problem, and Zhao Chengguang also encountered the same problem.

To go in, or not to go in?

The water pressure outside could rise at any moment, and the air was scorching hot, like being in a sauna. Zhao Chengguang was in a position where he could escape.

But if we bring someone else along, who knows?

"Damn it!" Zhao Chengguang slapped his thigh. "Can't we just stand by and watch someone die?"

Time was running out for him. The sponge castle collapsed, blocking the doorway, making it impossible for the people inside to get out.

The chances of survival were practically zero. The black smoke was choking and acrid; inhaling it made people cough uncontrollably. Even an adult couldn't stand it, let alone a child.

"Dad, Dad." A faint voice suddenly came from inside as he hesitated.

Unlike the sound of burning textiles, Zhao Chengguang heard the little girl's cries—

"Dad, I know I was wrong. Dad, please let me out."

"Help me, Dad, I really know I was wrong."

Suddenly, a string in his heart snapped. Without thinking too much, before all the sponge decorations wrapped around the steel bars fell down, Zhao Chengguang's heart skipped a beat, and he rushed in.

...

At the same time, Manager Guo outside was completely panicked.

He hadn't expected the fire to spread so quickly.

I was planning to start a small fire and create some smoke in the living room while my daughter was sleeping in her room, to give the illusion of a fire.

Then, a selfless act of saving someone moved the two elderly people in the Liu family.

But who would have thought it would turn out like this?

The fire, along with the curtains, engulfed the entire round hall. How could two basins of water possibly extinguish such a large fire?

The fire couldn't be put out, and it was so big.

He's finished.

Feeling both angry and anxious, Manager Guo became irritated whenever he saw Zhou Xinya beside him.

If she hadn't suddenly arrived and disrupted the schedule, would I have been afraid of running out of time and accidentally lit the wrong flammable material in my haste?

Once the children arrived, he no longer had time to set fires.

To save time, Manager Guo first tricked Zhou Xinya outside, telling her, "Don't disturb Mengmeng's sleep, go wait for her at the door for a while."

Finally, he rushed back to set the fire, looked around, and wondered when it would be best to make a phone call, when people arrived from outside.

Zhou Xinya wrinkled her little nose and asked Manager Guo, "Uncle, can you smell anything?"

As he spoke, he was about to go inside to take a look.

This won't do.

The fire hasn't even started yet! If we put it out now, where will we put our credit?
