The hotel called Sun Lifang, saying she had already used up all her vacation days.
Wang Heng said, "Why aren't you at work yet? Did you only realize how comfortable it is to be a rich wife after you got sick?"
During the hotel's expansion phase, many procedures required the marketing department to verify them one by one. With Sun Lifang, an English major graduate, absent, Wang Heng was exhausted.
Wang Heng's words were both joking and concerned: "How are you feeling now? If you're going to resign, I'll have to find someone to take over your job."
Sun Lifang smiled and said, "I stay at home every day now, and someone is watching over me so I can't go out."
As she spoke, she looked at Jiang Meimei at the door and the little one guarding her feet.
"I see. So what do you think?" Wang Heng asked directly.
Sun Lifang has also been considering this matter recently.
Besides her family and children, she needs to find something that ignites her passion, such as design.
However, the unexpected incident last time made Zhou Yunshi wary, and now she even has trouble going out to buy fabric.
After a few seconds of silence, Wang Heng knew the answer: "Then take good care of yourself. I'll come see you when I have time."
"I'm sorry." Sun Lifang lowered her eyes, her heart pounding. She never expected that, even after being reborn, she would still resign.
This time, Wang Heng didn't try to persuade her anymore. Instead, Sun Lifang felt even more guilty. "I have other jobs I want to do. Don't worry, I want to be a landlady too, just like you."
Upon hearing this, Wang Heng burst into laughter on the other end of the phone, his signature laugh drawing Zhou Xinya's attention.
"Is this Uncle Wang?"
"Little beauty, say a few words to your uncle." Wang Heng heard the voice and told Sun Lifang to hand the microphone to Zhou Xinya.
Zhou Xinya was clearly a "happy old man," and with just a few words, she made Wang Heng so happy that he was completely overwhelmed, and even invited him to dinner.
"What does Little Pretty do at home these days?" Wang Heng asked with concern.
Sun Lifang understood what he meant as soon as she heard this. "Although she didn't start first grade, she was born at the end of the year anyway, so we're not in a hurry."
Since coming to the city, with better nutrition, Zhou Xinya has grown a little taller and her face has become fuller. Seeing that she likes to eat, Jiang Meimei discussed it with Sun Lifang and together they decided on a menu, making different dishes for her every day.
Children her height come and go every day with their schoolbags, so it would be a lie for Zhou Xinya to say she's not lonely.
She was just more sensible, frighteningly so. When Sun Lifang asked her to go out and play, Zhou Xinya would rather stay home and watch TV than go out.
Looking at her daughter's solitary figure, so different from that "old man's car," Sun Lifang couldn't understand why Zhou Xinya was so poised and confident when she was with the adults.
Why do you become timid and hesitant in front of children?
Not lively at all.
Mrs. Tong's daughter, Beibei, came over several times with her paintbrushes. Beibei is younger than her, and Mrs. Tong enrolled her in an extracurricular class. After the class started, she had less and less free time.
"How about Mom sends you to dance lessons?" Sun Lifang had her eye on a nearby training institution, which Mrs. Tong often suggested to her.
"Will you take me there?" Zhou Xinya asked in return.
"Yes, but not every day."
"Then I won't go."
Zhou Xinya looked at Sun Lifang expressionlessly; she was no longer afraid of her mother at all.
This left Sun Lifang both amused and exasperated; what could she do if her child didn't want to go to school?
Suddenly, Sun Lifang thought of her twins, a boy and a girl, and how she handled the situation when they initially didn't want to go to kindergarten.
From birth, the twins have never left her side, so when the children go to kindergarten, she cries along with them.
I simply can't bear to part with it.
The children adapted after a while, but it took Sun Lifang, as a parent, a full year to adapt. She still waited at the kindergarten gate every day to be among the first to pick up her child.
Thinking about it this way, she never spent any time with her eldest daughter.
Sun Lifang looked at her daughter with guilt and tentatively asked, "Why don't you want to go?"
"I can't bear to leave my mom."
Looking into her daughter's bright and sincere eyes, Sun Lifang felt both warm and bittersweet. Fortunately, she asked the question.
The little one can't hide her emotions yet, she says whatever comes to mind. Since returning from the hospital, Zhou Xinya has become even more attached to Sun Lifang, following her everywhere she goes.
"How about this?" Sun Lifang discussed with her daughter, "We'll go study for a month first, then Mom will send you for another month, and then we'll see how things go, okay?"
Sun Lifang softened her stance, saying that children need guidance and that things should be done step by step.
Zhou Xinya loved dancing, but she still stubbornly shook her head, "Aren't you going to see me off at the end?"
"deliver--
"Ahem." Before she could finish her sentence, Sun Lifang changed the subject. As a parent, she didn't want to promise things she couldn't keep.
I don't want to lie to the children.
“Of course I can’t deliver it every day.” Sun Lifang pinched her daughter’s cheek and smiled. “I want to sleep in, so I can’t deliver it every day.”
This was something she heard in a lecture she attended in her previous life about raising twins: when faced with a child's demands, showing weakness can actually yield unexpected results.
But I've never had the chance to use it.
Unexpectedly, she put what she learned into practice here.
As expected, Zhou Xinya sighed like a little adult, "Go to sleep, go to sleep, what else can I expect from you?"
"Hahaha." Jiang Meimei, who had come over, laughed when she heard this and pointed at her, "How can you be so disrespectful? Are you going to make Mom angry?"
"What are you angry about?" Sun Lifang smiled and leaned against her daughter, looking at her. "Then Mom will rely on you, I'm counting on my daughter, hahaha."
She liked this "casual" attitude, which brought her closer to her daughter.
