Chapter 44 Things That Can Be Solved with Money

Li Zhi's phone kept ringing. He pressed the call button several times, but the ringing continued. He went to the balcony to answer the phone.

"Boss." Li Zhi said anxiously, looking at the somber atmosphere in the room, at a loss for what to do.

I was supposed to fly to a neighboring city today to sign a contract, but the time has been changed. If I don't leave now, I'll be too late.

Zhou Yunshi put down his teacup with a loud "thump," which made Chen Yan shudder.

Chen Yan felt a tightness in her chest; she was in a state of agitation. "Xiao Li, if you have something to do, go ahead and do it. Sun Lifang is my daughter-in-law; what can I do to her?"

She knew Zhou Yunshi's temper well. Her son was angry, but that was just his personality since he was a child. As long as he was well-mannered, he wouldn't do anything outrageous. Chen Yan was very confident that Zhou Yunshi couldn't do anything about it.

"Mom." Zhou Xinya ran out of the room and sat down next to Sun Lifang.

Her big eyes were full of curiosity as she observed everyone's expressions.

"Yaya, why aren't you greeting people?" With the child there to ease the tension, Chen Yan smiled and said, "I'm your grandma, haven't you forgotten? Do you know who this is?"

As he spoke, he pointed at Zhou Jiabao.

Upon hearing this, Zhou Jiabao also put on a smiling face.

Zhou Xinya pursed her lips and remained silent, shaking her head without giving anyone any face. She didn't like being teased like a child.

"Come on, call me Grandma and I'll buy you candy." Chen Yan smiled and reached out to hug Zhou Xinya, but the little girl turned and jumped into her father's arms.

She knew her mother didn't like her grandmother.

"Look at you, kid," Chen Yan complained, repeating the previous topic, "I came here today to ask you about the phone call you made to me last time, why so suddenly?"

Zhou Xinya pricked up her little ears to listen to what the adults were saying.

Sun Lifang glanced at her and said, "Yaya, can you help Mommy take these things to little sister Beibei?"

Mrs. Tong saw that Zhou Xinya's clothes were nice and ordered one herself.

Zhou Xinya was half-lying in her father's arms when she heard the sound. She crawled out, holding the box in her little hands, and ran out with a "tap tap".

After her daughter left, Sun Lifang said to Chen Yan, "I didn't know Yunshi had called you. Your relationship with your son is none of my business. Besides, my expenses come from my salary. If you think I'm lying, you can ask your son. If you don't believe me, you should at least believe your son, right?"

Chen Yan believed her son, Zhou Yunshi, of course; she wouldn't lie. She was just furious.

But she still had a long face: "Then you can't escape responsibility either. Why did you suddenly reduce my child support?"

Sun Lifang originally wanted to talk to Chen Yan properly, as she didn't want to get angry. However, Chen Yan's outburst had already made her lose face, and if she caused a few more such incidents, she simply couldn't take it anymore.

“I’ll say it again, you guys handle your own business. I have my own career and life. If it happens again, I will call the police.”

She knew Chen Yan wouldn't let it go, believing her daughter-in-law was freeloading and that all the money was earned by her son.

She must respect the elderly; she cannot argue with them here, otherwise it would be her fault.

Besides, secretly, Sun Lifang didn't want her daughter to see her ferocious face and affect the child's emotions.

Zhou Yunshi is too blindly filial, which is his flaw, and Sun Lifang admits that she cannot change it.

Especially his self-righteous mentality, which made Sun Lifang feel no pity for him at all.

One is willing to hit, and the other is willing to be hit. Chen Yan's behavior is mostly due to Zhou Yunshi's indulgence.

And then there's the daughter; she can't be spoiled by him. In her past life, Zhou Xinya was so capricious and acted recklessly outside, but it was because Zhou Yunshi was there to clean up her messes.

Sun Lifang can control her own daughter and prevent her from going astray, but she doesn't have the saintly heart to take on the responsibilities that her son Zhou Yunshi should have.

"Call the police?" Chen Yan was about to shout when she was stunned by the look in Sun Lifang's eyes.

Sun Lifang said calmly, "I have bank statements showing my salary and income. I haven't been freeloading. If you don't believe me, can we go to the bank to get the statements?"

Chen Yan snorted but didn't say anything. Of course, she knew that Sun Lifang could make money.

"In addition, we plan to buy a new house for our child's education, which puts a lot of pressure on us. If you feel that the current child support is not enough and you are too lonely, it is not impossible for us to contribute more."

Sun Lifang took out a form from her bag: "Take a look, this is from Haicheng Nursing Home. Although it's a bit expensive, we feel more at ease paying the nursing home, and there's insurance too."

Chen Yan was stunned.

She couldn't understand what he was saying, even though he was lecturing so eloquently.

but--

"I can't live in a nursing home!" Chen Yan realized what she meant and said hurriedly, "That's for people who have no children, not me."

When she met Sun Lifang's eyes, she felt a little weak.

"The nursing home has qualifications and certifications for education, nursing care, medical care, and insurance. If something goes wrong, we have someone to hold accountable. This is good for everyone."

Zhou Yunshi listened attentively. Sun Lifang circled the key points in red, making the advantages and disadvantages clear, and he knew at a glance that it was feasible.

“My second brother is getting married. He can’t even take care of himself, how can he take care of Mom?” After a pause, Sun Lifang turned to Zhou Jiabao. “Can you guarantee that you and your wife will take good care of Mom in the future?”

“If that’s the case, then let’s sign an agreement. We’ll provide the money, and you’ll provide the labor. That way, we won’t have to argue about it later.”

Zhou Jiabao didn't expect that he would suddenly be brought up. But thinking about it, it made sense. He wanted to have a life as a couple after getting married, and he was worried that Chen Yan's temper might clash with his girlfriend.

Zhou Jiabao was intrigued. He glanced at his older brother's expression and said, "That's a good idea. Why didn't you say so sooner?"

Zhou Jiabao was already fed up with living with Chen Yan. His mother was extremely controlling and even tried to take all of his salary.
