"See you there." Sun Lifang interrupted him, then smiled and waved goodbye to them.
Zhou Jiabao's eyes were unfathomable as he glanced at the woman without saying a word.
As the car drove away, Sun Lifang turned around, the smile on her face vanishing.
Jiang Meimei ladled a bowl of chicken soup and placed it on the table, urging her, "You must be starving, come and eat."
As she spoke, she quickly cleaned up the leftovers left by Chen Yan and began washing them in the kitchen.
Sun Lifang told her not to rush and to eat first, and then slowly sat down at the table.
She was lost in thought when there was another knock on the door.
Upon opening the door, Zhou Xinya's tense nerves finally relaxed; it was Mrs. Tong and her daughter who had brought her back.
As soon as she entered, Mrs. Tong looked around. "She went back?"
Sun Lifang glanced at her daughter and said, "Take your little sister to play in the little room. Mom and Auntie have something to discuss."
Zhou Xinya happily took Beibei's hand, "Come on! I'll show you my baby."
As soon as she entered the room, she pulled out her treasure chest from under the bed. It contained a dollhouse, blankets, chairs, and various exquisite little dresses.
Beibei's eyes lit up as soon as she saw Zhou Xinya's outfit. "Where did you buy these clothes? They're so pretty!"
She also has this version of the doll, but she doesn't have this many outfits.
"Hehehe, my mom made it for me!" Zhou Xinya quietly peeked through the crack in the door, looked left and right, then turned back and whispered, "Do you want to see the design drawings?"
"Mmm, Beibei wants to see," Beibei said in her childish voice.
Zhou Xinya pressed her ear to the crack in the door, thought for a moment, and said, "Wait a minute, let's play first."
Before I could even turn around, I heard Beibei exclaim in surprise, pointing to the clothes on one of the dolls and saying, "Is this from our series? It's so pretty!"
“Yes, there are other colors too.” Zhou Xinya crawled under the bed, her two chubby little legs sticking out as she thrashed around. She pulled out another box and showed the other dresses to Beibei while arranging them, “I’ll be the eldest princess, and you’ll be the second princess. We’re both princesses.”
Beibei looked up and obediently agreed, "Okay~ Beibei will be the boar."
"It's 'princess'! Pronounced with the third tone." Zhou Xinya corrected her. Beibei repeated "boar" again. After teaching her several times, the little teacher sighed and gave up.
Although they were supposed to be playing princesses, it was really just playing house. The adults' voices outside never stopped, which made Zhou Xinya feel at ease. Now it was their world.
"Come, come, come to my secret base."
Zhou Xinya's room has a small balcony that is connected to the balcony of the master bedroom. It is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, with a cement partition in the middle.
She dragged over a foam mat, placed the dolls on it, and drew the floral curtains. It felt very safe, and the mat was just the right size for two people to lie down in.
"Sister, wait for me, my skirt..."
Mrs. Tong loved dressing up her daughter, and as soon as Beibei sat down in her tutu, Zhou Xinya overshadowed her.
"This dress is too much trouble," Zhou Xinya said to Beibei, frowning. She found a shrunken babydoll dress. "Won't you easily step on it while walking?"
Beibei was wearing a long, tulle skirt with a bow at the back and a fan-shaped shawl on her upper body.
It's open from top to bottom, like a mobile cake stand.
"How did you know?!" Beibei's eyes widened.
"I'll have Mom alter your skirt." After seeing Sun Lifang's design drafts, Zhou Xinya understood the importance of comfort. Now, seeing this kind of gauze skirt, she felt extremely disgusted. It would be hot in the summer, like being wrapped in countless layers of mosquito nets. It looked pretty, but it would be prickly to wear.
"When are we going to see the design drafts?" Beibei suddenly asked.
Zhou Xinya frowned. Her mother was still outside, so she couldn't go out, but she really wanted to show Beibei the product.
Suddenly, she thought of a solution.
"Come on, let's put the toys away first." Zhou Xinya and Beibei dragged the toys and mats outside.
There was a small hole under the partition between the two balconies, and in the middle of the hole was a potted plant about half a person's height, surrounded by dust.
Zhou Xinya sighed. It was too dirty; if she crawled over there, her white pantyhose would definitely get dirty.
But she desperately wanted to show Beibei her mother's artwork, and there was nowhere in the countryside she wouldn't dare go. After much deliberation, she made a decisive decision—
She took off her pantyhose and crouched down to crawl over.
Zhou Xinya was good at drilling, so Beibei naturally followed suit, especially since she was two years younger than Zhou Xinya and smaller in stature.
The two little ones easily slipped into the adults' room.
The adults were still talking in the living room. Following her memory, Zhou Xinya took out her mother's design draft, opened it, and said, "Look, this is the one I brought you today."
"And your dress, it could be designed in this bud shape, wouldn't it be beautiful?"
Sun Lifang usually paints full-body portraits of models. This outfit is a parent-child set, and the little girl's face is painted by Zhou Xinya.
Beibei blinked, she noticed too, and pointed it out to her sister. Zhou Xinya laughed, and she laughed along with her.
Sun Lifang has many design drafts, which are divided into different booklets and placed on the bookshelf. Zhou Xinya opened them one by one and introduced them: "This one has a rose theme, which is my mother's favorite flower."
Seeing that Beibei seemed to understand but not quite, Zhou Xinya patiently took out another booklet and explained, "There are many kinds of roses, which belong to the rose family. They come in a variety of colors and have different fragrances."
Five-year-old Beibei didn't understand at all, but she still supported Zhou Xinya, looking at her with big, admiring eyes. The little teacher was very satisfied.
After the demonstration, Zhou Xinya put the items back in their original places, and the two little ones tried to climb back.
With a "thump," Zhou Xinya turned around and saw that Beibei had knocked over the trash can on the corner of the table.
Zhou Xinya had already climbed out. Beibei turned around to clean the trash can when her mother's voice suddenly came from outside, "Beibei, come out quickly, we're going home."
