Chapter 38 Foolish Woman

Sun Lifang floated in the pure white void, her body light and airy, unable to move no matter how hard she tried.

"0108, please proceed to vaccination station number 1 for vaccination."

0108?

As she hesitated, the cold, mechanical voice sounded again.

"Attention passengers, boarding has begun for Flight 101 to the retrograde platform. Please prepare your wristbands and magnetic cards and proceed to Gate 1 to board."

Where is this?

There seemed to be someone ahead, so Sun Lifang moved forward.

Huh? It can move now.

Before she could even feel happy, she was already standing in the bustling lobby.

Just as she was about to ask someone where it was, a passerby hurrying by bumped into her.

"I'm sorry, you..." Sun Lifang apologized, but when she looked up, she was shocked by the person in front of her.

The woman, dressed in a long red robe, with a crimson dot between her eyebrows and a tall, heavy headdress, was completely different from those of this era.

The woman said expressionlessly, "Excuse me."

Sun Lifang's vision suddenly cleared. There were all kinds of people dressed like this, as if she were in a grand theater. People of different skin colors from ancient and modern times, Chinese and foreign, all had anxious expressions on their faces and were walking in one direction.

What happened there?

She followed and started walking, when suddenly a suction force pulled her back.

Countless tracks swept past on both sides, leaving only light and shadow.

"0108, where are you going?"

She heard a voice, but when Sun Lifang turned around, she saw only emptiness.

The voice continued, "Everyone is waiting for you. Where are you going?"

"Everyone? Where is this?" Sun Lifang asked.

Her response was a chilling, mocking laugh.

"You deliberately broke the rules. You're getting a yellow card warning and will be vaccinated. Were you trying to escape just now?"

“Foolish woman, how many times have I told you not to break the rules? This is the punishment you deserve.”

Violating the rules?

Upon hearing this, Sun Lifang's heart skipped a beat, and she asked again, "Where are they going? To get vaccinated? What kind of vaccination?"

She glanced down at her watch, where something seemed to be glowing in small print.

Upon closer inspection, three lines of text were displayed on the screen—

Number: 0108

Name: Sun Lifang

Task: Punishment in Progress

In a flash, Sun Lifang understood everything.

"0108, listen carefully. As a warning, a chip has been implanted in you. You have only one chance. If you disobey again, it will detonate and destroy all storage, and all information will be wiped clean."

The empty voice said again, "I hope you won't let me down and won't have the chance to get into that cabin."

Sun Lifang looked in the original direction, where people had already boarded shuttle buses to head to the next destination.

"I think you've accumulated enough hatred, and that hatred will be your motivation to set off. Once the mission is over, you don't need to get involved with them anymore, with your laughable pity."

The empty voice suddenly burst into laughter: "You can't even save yourself. Look at those people, I've already given them a chance, but unfortunately, they're hopelessly stupid."

Faced with arrogant and conceited voices, Sun Lifang neither retorted nor begged for mercy in fear.

She sat down at table number one at a leisurely pace and rolled up her sleeves.

"Aren't you curious?" The hollow voice continued, "The one who bumped into you was actually a princess. I let her go back to take revenge, but she jumped off the city wall, trying to end the war between the two countries with her death."

"Shut up!" Sun Lifang snapped.

She glanced back at the void and said calmly, "I'm willing to accept the punishment, but you can shut up. You're neither the system nor the person involved. Who do you think you are to call others stupid?"

"Oh?" the voice said with interest. "How do you know I'm not a system? You're the one I chose."

"Poor housewife, don't you hate it? Your children are heartless, your husband can be seduced by other women at any time, your parents don't like you, you have no friends, and you couldn't even be there for your kind grandmother when she passed away. What's the point of your life?"

Is there any need for it to exist?

A small, pink, spider-shaped chip sank into Sun Lifang's arm.

She ignored the incessant chatter and tapped the back button on her watch.

"Hey, are you even listening to me?" Seeing the light array appear in front of Sun Lifang, the voice became even more furious. "No good deed goes unpunished. I'll wait until you come back crying."

"Okay," Sun Lifang smiled slightly. "No need to wait, but you'll be able to see it soon—"

The woman said, word by word, "My complaint and report."

Upon hearing this, the voice was about to speak again, but suddenly met Sun Lifang's eyes.

Calm and composed, his smile held a hint of mockery and knowing understanding.

Watching the light array disappear into the distance, in the empty void, the voice muttered to itself: "How did she know? Just an ordinary housewife, damn it, she actually dared to report me?"

"Damn it, just do your job as a receptionist properly, don't drag my rating down. If you keep spouting threats, I'm not done with you." Another voice roared from the side, seemingly after seeing something.

"I know, who knew she was so shrewd..." a hollow voice said, sounding aggrieved, then, remembering something, opened the control panel.

.

"Open your eyes, open your eyes and look."

A voice sounded in her ear: Sun Lifang was too tired; all she wanted to do was sleep.

The mental strain caused a throbbing pain in her temples. Smelling the pungent smell of disinfectant in the hospital, she could hear her husband and the doctor's voices.

"The patient may be too tired and under a lot of mental stress. I suggest that you, as family members, talk to her more and go out for a walk to relax."
