Shen Yan had no choice but to sit next to Chen Yu. The two sat awkwardly, while Chen Le secretly chuckled to himself. He remembered the task Chen Kang had given him: to ease the tension between Chen Yu and Shen Yan.
The waiter quickly brought over the menu. "Would you like to order now?"
Chen Le nodded and took the menu. He ordered some of his usual dishes, and let the two kids order some more. He also ordered a hot pot with two broths. Chen Yu and Shen Yan each ordered their favorite dishes. Shen Yan didn't order much, because if he ordered too much, Chen Yu would make sarcastic remarks.
The food was served very quickly. Chen Le was in charge of serving the food, while Chen Yu and Shen Yan were in charge of eating.
At first, Shen Yan was a little embarrassed. He thought for a long time about whether to help Chen Le pick up some food. He had just picked up some meat and was about to put it in Chen Le's bowl when Chen Le saw through him. "Shen Yan, you eat by yourself. You don't need to pick it up for me. I'll pick it up myself later. You two should eat your fill. Don't come to me hungry in the middle of the night."
Shen Yan withdrew his hand and put the meat back into his bowl. Chen Yu observed Shen Yan's expression. It was the first time she had seen Shen Yan so embarrassed, and she found it quite amusing. She pretended to eat the meat to hide her laughter.
The meal was quickly finished. Chen Yu was sweating profusely from eating the spicy hot pot. The spiciness was really something else. Chen Yu gulped down a bottle of coconut water before the spiciness in his mouth subsided a little.
"Are you all full?" Chen Le asked, watching the two little ones wiping their mouths.
Chen Yu and Shen Yan nodded at the same time. They were both full. Chen Yu had drunk enough coconut water to fill her up. She had overestimated her ability to handle spicy food. Shen Yan hadn't even tried a single spicy hot pot. He knew he couldn't handle it, so he wouldn't try it easily.
