Chapter 120 A New Beginning

Chen Yu was very grateful that Li Ke'er and Huang Xiaoni had come all this way to see her.

"I will be going back to school soon."

"Don't worry, we'll come over if we miss you. Nini has a car, and it's fast."

Li Ke'er forced a smile as she looked at Chen Yu, knowing that her smile must look terrible.

The three of them sat on the sofa and chatted for a long time before leaving Chen Yu's house very late. They still had to attend classes the next day, otherwise they would have stayed to keep Chen Yu company.

Before leaving, Huang Xiaoni chatted with Shen Yan in the corridor.

"Shen Yan, if there's anything I can help you with, please don't hesitate to ask."

"I understand, thank you. Send Chen Yu a message when you arrive."

Huang Xiaoni nodded and left with Li Ke'er.

Shen Yan was engrossed in watching the elevator, but he himself was also confused and didn't know what to do.

He knew Chen Yu was feeling bad, and he was feeling bad too. In his heart, Chen Kang and Li Ziyun were like his parents.

Shen Yan stood at the elevator entrance without going in. Chen Yu turned around and saw that the door was not closed.

She went outside and saw Chen Yan staring blankly at the elevator entrance.

"You're not coming in."

"Come in now."

Shen Yan was awakened by Chen Yu's voice. He shook his head and quickly walked back home.

Chen Yu suddenly hugged his waist, "Shen Yan, I don't have a mom and dad either."

These past few days, Chen Yu has thought a lot. She finally understands how Shen Yan feels. Coupled with her own crazy harassment of him, anyone would find it unbearable, but Shen Yan still lives on with strength.

Shen Yan reached out and stroked her head. "You still have me, don't worry."

This time, it seemed that their hearts had truly drawn closer.

The next morning.

Chen Yu got up very early. She looked closely at Chen Yan's sleeping face. He hadn't been sleeping well these past few days, and stubble had grown on his beard.

Her eyes were also covered in dark circles, and she gently stroked her stern face with the back of her hand.

She got up and went downstairs. She rummaged through the refrigerator and found some ingredients inside, all of which looked fresh. It was no surprise that Shen Yan and Jiang Yang had gone out to buy them together.

She made breakfast for herself, not knowing how long Shen Yan would sleep, so she simply made his portion as well.

Chen Yu's mindset changed, and she began to diligently clean her home.

She also mustered up the courage to step into Chen Kang and Li Ziyun's room.

The room was very clean, as if Li Ziyun had just cleaned it, and Chen Kang's clothes were still hanging where they needed to be washed.

As Chen Yu tidied up, she recalled what she had seen and found a photo album in the drawer.

It contains photos of Chen Yu as a child. This book does not include Shen Yan; it is Chen Yu's own work.

When she finished reading the last page, she realized that she had started crying again without even realizing it.

There was also a photo of Li Ziyun and Chen Kang on the bedside table.

Chen Yu wiped her clean and put her back on the table.

She began to regret not seeing Chen Kang one last time, because of her own fear.

He stood solemnly watching everything Chen Yu did, without saying a word, but stood at the door for a long time.

The two remained silent in the space, neither disturbing the other.

Chen Yu needed to be alone, and Shen Yan knew this. He didn't say anything, but turned around and quietly went downstairs.

After finishing the breakfast Chen Yu had prepared, he washed the bowls in the sink.

In his study, Chen Yu took stock of the family's assets. Some of them had been seized by the police, and a small portion remained.

Chen Yu calculated that the remaining amount would at most allow her to finish university with Shen Yan.

After that, it's up to fate for the two of them.

She hesitated for a moment, then took the ledger downstairs. When she saw Shen Yan had just finished washing the dishes, she was stunned. She hadn't noticed that Shen Yan had gotten up for so long.

"Let's discuss it."

Chen Yu compared the amount of money she had calculated with Shen Yan's.

Shen Yan knew Chen Yu's concerns. "This money can be left to you. I can earn my tuition and living expenses through part-time jobs. I also have some savings, which are pocket money given to me by Aunt Yun and Uncle Kang. If you don't have enough, I will give you all of it."

"No way, what they give you is yours. This money is enough for us to graduate, and I'll go to work after graduation."

Chen Yu made up her mind as soon as she finished calculating the money. She considered herself to have some work experience, but she had been studying for too long without any worries, and she didn't know if she had become rusty.

"Just ask me for money when you're short of cash. I'll work part-time while I'm studying."

Chen Yu sighed, "You didn't actually have to do this, the money is enough."

"I'm used to being frugal, and I can't change my mindset."

Shen Yan was also helpless. He actually had quite a bit of money in his pocket. After counting it carefully, he had saved more than 100,000 yuan over the years.

I originally intended to use this money to start a business, but now I realize that being able to support two people is the most important thing.

The discussion led to a disagreement. Chen Yu felt that her communication with Shen Yan had not been thorough enough, but she did not reject Shen Yan's idea.

She just wanted to think of a way to balance things out; she didn't want Chen Yan to be distracted, and she always believed that Chen Yan could make a lot of money.

Shen Yan led Chen Yu to withdraw all the money and put it into Chen Yu's card.

Chen Kang's usual car was also impounded, leaving only Li Ziyun's car.

After discussing it, the two decided to sell it first, since no one would take care of it at home, and they didn't plan to come back here for the holidays.

Chen Yu even considered selling the house to buy a smaller one.

But considering that Chen Kang and Li Ziyun's things were all here, I gave up on the idea.

It's a real shame that the two of them live in such a big house and don't come back often.

"Chen Yan, we won't be coming back during our studies. Should we rent out the house?"

"Have you thought it through? We can rent it, but Aunt Yun and Uncle Kang's rooms cannot be touched."

"I've thought about this, so it's a bit troublesome."

In the end, Chen Yu gave up on the idea. After everything was finished, Chen Yu and Shen Yan returned to school.

Before leaving home, the two covered all the items in the house with white cloths to prevent dust from getting in.

Especially Chen Kang and Li Ziyun's room.

Chen Yu cleaned the bed exceptionally well and even covered the items on it with something.

Before leaving, Chen Yu took one last look at her home, leaving all her keepsakes there.

On the way back to school, Chen Yu was very quiet, looking at the scenery outside the car window, and suddenly felt very sad.

The memories of Chen Kang and Li Ziyun are still vivid in my mind. It feels like we were having dinner together one second, and then they were gone the next.

Suddenly she felt that her mind had become very naive, perhaps because she had been carefree for too long.

Shen Yan gently grasped Chen Yu's hand, giving her some strength. Chen Yu turned her head and smiled back at him, indicating that she was alright.
