Chapter 137 Reveals the Secret of Horse Chess

The private investigator sat in front of the computer, holding a phone in one hand and an ice cream in the other. "Sis, it's not that I'm helping you. We've been working together long enough. We finally finished the mission, and I want to take a break."

"Fifty thousand a month, that's it, hurry up."

Chen Yu's offer was so astonishing that the detective had no reason to refuse. He had only been lying at home for a few days, and now he was back to his life of running around.

For three consecutive days, Chen Yu squatted at the villa's entrance, but she didn't see Shen Yan come out even once.

She had originally hoped to try her luck and that if she ran into Shen Yan, she would have time to explain herself.

But to my surprise, I didn't see Shen Yan leave the house at all.

On the fourth day, she finally waited for Ma Qi to come out. Taking advantage of her absence, she ran to her house.

When the maid saw that it was Chen Yu, she was so frightened that she immediately tried to close the door, but Chen Yu blocked her with one hand. "I'm just going to see him. I know him."

"No, no, young lady, if you keep doing this I'm going to call the police again."

"Auntie, listen to me, Auntie, the person inside is my brother. You must know how he got here!"

"I don't know! I don't know!"

The maid was rather plump and slammed the door shut. Luckily, Chen Yu pulled her hand back quickly, or she would have been caught in the door.

She still pounded on the door, unwilling to give up. "Auntie, believe me, nothing will happen. I just want to see my brother."

Chen Yu's voice trembled with a sob. The aunt inside was a soft-hearted person. After thinking about the man's identity, she realized that he had been brought back not long after her young master died.

What's even stranger is that the young mistress never let this man go out.

She was moved by Chen Yu's words, and coupled with her pitiful sobbing voice, she finally opened the door to her home.

"I promised to let you see it for a moment, but you have to leave within ten minutes."

"Thank you, Auntie! May you have a peaceful and happy life."

Chen Yu followed the maid upstairs to the study. The maid knocked on the door, "Young Master Ji, someone is looking for you..."

"Come in."

The stern voice rang out, and Chen Yu's heart pounded with nervousness the moment she opened the door.

Their eyes met.

Chen Yu was so excited she almost cried; she was truly stern.

"Shen Yan! Come home with me, okay?"

Chen Yu anxiously grabbed Chen Yan's hand, but the man in front of her didn't recognize her at all. He pried her hand away, saying, "Madam, this is the second time you've called me that. Are you sure you're not mistaken?"

"Chen Yan, Chen Yan, listen to me! Try your best to recall what happened before!"

Seeing that it was almost time, the maid told Ma Qi to go to the nearby supermarket to buy some things and pulled Chen Yu away, because if her young mistress found out, she would lose her job.

"Quick, let's go! If we get caught, we're doomed!"

"No, Shen Yan, please come with me, I'm begging you."

Tears welled up in Chen Yu's eyes, but Shen Yan remained indifferent, not even extending a hand.

She was pushed out by the maid.

"Little girl, don't come again. I've realized I'm doomed. You'd better leave now."

The maid closed the door. Chen Yu leaned weakly against the wall next to the door. She was still unwilling to give up. One day she would take Shen Yan away. She just needed to appear more often, and she was sure that Shen Yan would remember something.

Second floor.

Shen Yan stood in front of the study window, watching Chen Yu's back, and felt a sharp pain in his head.

He clutched his head, feeling unwell, and sat back down in his chair.

Not long after, Ma Qi returned. She carried her things upstairs, only to see Shen Yan covering his head.

"Honey, what's wrong? Is your head bothering you again?"

"It's nothing, I'm just a little tired."

Chen Yan calmly and silently removed Ma Qi's hand that was reaching out to him.

"Okay, I bought your favorite dishes, and I'll cook them for you myself."

Ma Qi leaned forward, wanting to kiss Shen Yan on the cheek, but Shen Yan dodged him, not believing at all that the woman in front of him was his wife.

All he remembered was that when he woke up, Ma Qi was beside him and kept saying that he was his husband.

However, Shen Yan had no recollection of it at all, and instinctively resisted playing chess.

He had no useful information on him, and even his identity was reissued by Ma Qi.

Chen Yu returned to the company dejectedly.

When Huang Xiaoni passed by Chen Yu's office, she saw her sitting in a chair in a daze, and thought she should go in and talk to her.

"Don't worry too much. Now that we know where he is, we'll definitely find a way to bring him back."

“I know, I just can’t stand him living in Maqi.”

"I understand, but we still need to wait."

Chen Yu was flustered and afraid that Ma Qi would force himself on Shen Yan, since Ma Qi had done such things many times.

What if, what if Shen Yan believed her and thought he was Ma Qi's husband, and thus fulfilled this obligation with her?

Huang Xiaoni patted her shoulder, knowing that Chen Yu wouldn't listen to anything she said now.

It's better to shut up and say nothing, letting Chen Yu think it over himself.

Huang Xiaoni had just returned to her office when she received a call from Jiang Yang. She initially thought he was bringing good news: Jiang Yang had gone to sign a contract with a large company today, and if he could secure the deal, it would be enough to support his parents' company for at least two years.

"Guess what I found."

"What?"

Huang Xiaoni frowned.

“I discovered that Ma Qi’s ex-husband, Wan Ke’s company, is currently in bankruptcy. This is why the company suddenly chose us.”
