Shen Yan didn't take his wallet with him when he went out. Instead, he took out a few bills and went to the market to buy groceries.
He went to a supermarket by instinct, picking out fresh vegetables, planning to cook a delicious meal for Chen Yu when she came back at noon. He grabbed whatever Chen Yu liked to eat.
After waiting for ages without Chen Yu returning, and with no phone on him, Shen Yan decided to just deliver the food. He stuffed some money into his pocket and, relying on his memory, went to Chen Yu's company. As soon as he entered, the receptionist recognized him.
"Hello, are you looking for Mr. Chen?"
Shen Yan smiled and nodded, and the receptionist led him to Chen Yu's office.
He carried the food into Chen Yu's office and saw that she looked terrible and was talking on her phone. When she saw Shen Yan, she told him to wait a moment. Huang Xiaoni rushed over, wanting to say something to Chen Yu, but when she saw Shen Yan, she could only greet him first.
After Chen Yu finished her call, the two walked seriously into the conference room.
They also called Wang Yue and Li Ke'er inside.
Chen Yu's secretary returned to Chen Yu's office. "Mr. Chen, President Chen asked me to tell you that she needs to wait for her here for a moment."
"Okay, I understand, thank you."
Unable to sit still, Shen Yan stood up and looked around Chen Yu's office.
There are two photo frames on her table, one with her family and the other with Huang Xiaoni and the others.
But most importantly, there were photos of Shen Yan on them. These photos were imprinted in Shen Yan's mind. He had already begun to suspect something when he was at Ma Qi's house. There wasn't a single photo of Shen Yan in her house, not even a single photo of them together.
In the conference room.
Chen Yu's expression was grave. "Two companies in a row are terminating their contracts with us..."
"Me too, they suddenly called this morning and said they wouldn't be renewing the contract."
Wang Yue was overwhelmed; she had received just as many phone calls as Chen Yu that morning.
Huang Xiaoni was pale, with dark circles under her eyes. "My client told me that our products have quality problems..."
"It's the same on my end, they say our products aren't good or something."
Li Ke'er swallowed an ibuprofen pill with a headache, and her phone call was the first one to come in.
"Could you check if our arch-enemy has made a move?"
Chen Yu looked at Huang Xiaoni. Her company had three arch-rivals, all of whom were trying to bring down Huang Xiaoni's company.
"It's hard to say. They haven't made any moves in a long time. I've had someone keeping an eye on them."
Huang Xiaoni racked her brains but couldn't figure out who was targeting her company. She had been working there for so long and didn't seem to have offended anyone. Even with rival companies, she would send them gifts during the Lunar New Year to try and maintain peace.
Just when the group was at a loss, their long-time partner arrived.
Huang Xiaoni kept Chen Yu behind, while Li Ke'er and Wang Yue went back to maintain relationships with clients.
"Mr. Huang, we've been working together for so many years, and I really trust you."
"I know, Mr. Li is a very honest person. You also know that we would never do such things. Quality control is strictly checked."
Mr. Li looked visibly embarrassed. "With all the rumors going on lately, and considering we're just running a small business, let's leave it at that for now, okay? We can cooperate again once you've clarified things."
His secretary handed him a contract. Chen Yu took a look and almost fainted.
Mr. Li's company was the first to cooperate with them, and also the one they cooperated with for the longest time.
She looked at Huang Xiaoni, waiting for her instructions. Huang Xiaoni hesitated for half a minute, then waved to Chen Yu, "Sign it."
Although Chen Yu was still upset, she obediently signed the document.
Mr. Li looked at Huang Xiaoni with regret, "Ms. Huang, we've all come this far together, so please don't blame me."
"Understood, Mr. Li, then we won't see you off."
Huang Xiaoni watched the person leave, then pinched the bridge of her nose. All the employees were outside discussing what had happened.
People from other companies also came knocking, some quite loudly, making the employees wonder if they were about to lose their jobs.
Hearing the commotion outside, Wang Yue angrily went out and demanded, "What's going on? Aren't you working?"
The employees, after being scolded, dared not continue arguing and switched to discussing the matter on their phones.
Shen Yan stood at the door of Chen Yu's office, frowning as he looked outside. It was already past 2 p.m., and he still didn't know what could be so serious.
He found Chen Yu's secretary and asked what had happened. The secretary was a little embarrassed, "Mr. Shen, you should ask President Chen yourself later. I can't reveal these things."
Shen Yan did not continue to make things difficult for the secretary, and planned to ask Chen Yu when he returned.
When Chen Yu returned, it was already 2:30 in the afternoon. She dragged her tired body back, still fiddling with her phone.
Shen Yan opened the food containers. "Eat first, then we'll get more food. Don't let your stomach hurt from hunger."
Chen Yu paused for a moment, then looked up, almost forgetting that Shen Yan was still in her office.
She kept complaining to Shen Yan, wondering who was so unethical as to spread fake news everywhere.
After listening, Shen Yan's eyes darted around. "Do you have a list of all the companies you've partnered with?"
"Yes, I have."
Chen Yu looked at Shen Yan with a puzzled expression, then simply took out the list. Shen Yan glanced at it and asked, "The latest company you've partnered with, was it signed yesterday?"
"Hmm, it's a large one."
As Chen Yu ate, she answered, saying that she was the one who signed that big order yesterday.
"Did they come to terminate the contract?"
When Shen Yan asked him this question, he realized that this new company seemed to be the first to terminate the contract, because they felt that the company's character was not good.
She jumped up and immediately went to Wang Yue and Li Ke'er's office.
"Who hired Minghui Technology?"
"What's wrong with me?"
Wang Yue looked at Chen Yu with a blank expression; she had just finished a phone call with this company.
"Was it just signed yesterday?"

Chen Yu looked at the information in Wang Yue's hand. This company was the supplier of one of the parts, and this part happened to be the best they had. How could it be a defective product? It was even imported.
Something's not right.
Chen Yu took the information to his detective, explained the situation, and asked him to investigate.
"No, sis, do you really think I'm omnipotent?"
"Hurry up and give me an answer tonight. It'll cost 30,000 per time."
She hung up the phone, leaving the detective staring blankly at the receiver. Under the pressure of the money, he still diligently began his investigation.
Back in her office, Chen Yu looked at Shen Yan with gratitude, thinking how sharp Shen Yan's mind was.
The company is now facing bankruptcy, so Huang Xiaoni gave all the employees a holiday, making up a random excuse to get by.
Some employees still felt that the company had gone bankrupt and they didn't know if they would even be able to get paid this month.
