Chen Yu wiped the water clean, looked up and saw Chen Yan staring blankly. "Keep eating, why did you stop?"
Shen Yan didn't say anything and continued eating the next dumpling.
Chen Yu dried herself off, yawned, and lay down on the sofa. She had gotten up too early today and was starting to feel sleepy.
After finishing his meal, Shen Yan cleaned up the dishes and prepared to go upstairs. Seeing Chen Yu fast asleep, he covered her with a blanket.
Chen Yu woke up as soon as the blanket was put on. She looked at Chen Yan, whose hand was frozen in mid-air, and asked, "Have you finished eating?"
"Um..."
Chen Yu threw off the blanket, sat up and calmed herself down. "Give me some tutoring, I feel like I'm really bad at math."
"good."
Chen Yu instinctively wanted to help Shen Yan, but he blocked her with his hand. "I can walk by myself." He didn't want Chen Yu to touch him and avoided her hand.
She withdrew her hand and silently followed Shen Yan upstairs.
Shen Yan took the math book and practice problems to Chen Yu's room. He opened Chen Yu's summer homework and glanced at it. The answers were scribbled and corrected, but they were still wrong at first glance.
There was also a draft paper next to him, on which the calculations were wrong, but it was not hard to see that Chen Yu had thought about it.
Chen Yu sat down awkwardly. Shen Yan looked at the solution on the draft paper and quickly discovered Chen Yu's problem: she couldn't even understand the most basic arithmetic, and her process was completely wrong.
He flipped through the book and carefully explained some basics to Chen Yu.
Chen Yu heard it very clearly, unlike the lessons she learned at school, where she could only hear vaguely and couldn't even hear what the teacher was saying.
It really does take top students to give lectures.
Chen Yu learned it and figured it out in no time; Shen Yan hadn't expected Chen Yu to learn so quickly.
Chen Yu solved the next few questions on her own. Shen Yan didn't even say anything. He watched Chen Yu do the questions and thought that she had figured them out, so he decided to go back to his room to rest.
Just as he stood up, Chen Yu grabbed him, asking, "Where are you going?"
"rest."
Hearing Shen Yan say that, Chen Yu didn't try to keep him any longer, since Shen Yan had already been studying with her for an hour and a half.
Looking at the contents of the book, and with the problem-solving ideas given by Shen Yan, Chen Yu had already written down many problems. She put down her pen, stretched, and looked at the summer homework she had completed, feeling a great sense of accomplishment.
Li Ziyun sent Chen Yu a message saying that she wouldn't be home for lunch and that the two of them would have to cook for themselves.
Chen Yu replied with an "okay".
She thought for a moment and decided to cook lunch for Shen Yan.
The thought was quickly dismissed; as soon as the door opened, a wonderful fragrance filled the air.
Shen Yan downstairs was already cooking. Li Ziyun sent a message to Shen Yan first, but then remembered that Shen Yan was still recuperating.
Seeing that Shen Yan looked as if he had recovered, Chen Yu sat at the dining table, gazing absently at his busy figure.
Shen Yan brought the food to the table and placed the bowl of rice in front of her.
Chen Yu took a bite of the sweet and sour pork ribs, and it still tasted familiar. She hadn't eaten any of Shen Yan's cooking since college.
After finishing her meal, Chen Yu hesitated for a moment, then looked at Shen Yan somewhat awkwardly and said, "Could you tutor me again this afternoon? I'm not very good at English."
"Okay, I'll study after I wake up."
Shen Yan didn't even look up when he answered Chen Yu's question. He continued to clean up the dishes. Chen Yu wanted to say something but didn't know what to say, so he silently went upstairs to sleep.
After washing the dishes, Chen Yan went upstairs. He took out the practice questions he had just bought from his feet. Even after resting for a few days, he still felt guilty.
Chen Yu slept until after 3 p.m. She glanced at the time and jumped out of bed. She opened the door and looked into the somber room, finding him studying in a chair. Chen Yu went in and looked around. "Why didn't you call me?"
"You didn't tell me to call you."
Shen Yan answered while writing, his attitude was very cold. Chen Yu felt a little uncomfortable, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Shen Yan's indifference made her a little angry, so she left his room without saying anything.
Chen Yu locked the door to her room and listened to the lecture alone inside. She didn't want any of that bullshit about their relationship getting warmer.
Chen Yu didn't go to see Shen Yan again all afternoon.
After finishing his studies, Shen Yan glanced at the time; it was past six in the afternoon. He packed up his stationery and went downstairs. Li Ziyun still hadn't returned by this time, so it was his turn to cook.
Just as I put the rice cooker on, Li Ziyun opened the door and came in, carrying cooked dishes in her hands.
"Oh dear, Shen Yan, what are you doing in the kitchen?"
"Aunt Yun, you're back."
"I'll do it, you go and rest."
Li Ziyun snatched the spatula from Shen Yan's hand and busied herself in the kitchen. Not long after, Chen Kang arrived home. He sat next to Shen Yan and chatted with him for a few words, mainly asking if he was feeling unwell anywhere.
He confessed honestly and solemnly that he had almost fully recovered and could walk, run, and jump again.
Chen Yu didn't come down until it was time to eat. At first, Shen Yan didn't think anything was wrong with her. It wasn't until she finished eating and went upstairs without saying a word that he found it strange. But he didn't think about it too much. He felt that it was already good enough that Chen Yu didn't cause him any trouble. He didn't want to tutor her at all.
Hiding in her room, Chen Yu planned to find a way to learn on her own. Just thinking about Shen Yan's cold and indifferent appearance made her furious.
But then she thought about it again and realized she had no reason to be upset. She had treated Shen Yan so badly before, and his current attitude was her own fault. There was no reason for her to blame him.
She recalled the message Ma Qi had sent her that day; the screen was somewhat reflective, and she could clearly see the word "go".
