Ma Qi angrily slammed her phone on the table. This Shen Yan was truly ungrateful. She had asked him out so many times. Even if he were a blockhead, he could see what she meant. What was she pretending for?
"Hey Qiqi, don't be so angry. Shen Yan is obviously blind; he can't see how good Qiqi is."
"That's right, Yu Rou, you see things clearly." Ma Qi's mood immediately improved after being coaxed by Tian Yu Rou.
Shen Yan put down his phone, ignoring Ma Qi's message, and picked up his book to study again.
Chen Yu didn't get up until noon. When she sat up, she saw food and a note on the table.
[Mom's note: Yu Yu, Mom is going out. I've put your food on the table.]
Chen Yu put down the note in her hand, lifted the lid and took a look. Inside were all the things she liked to eat. Chen Yu skipped and hopped to the bathroom to wash up. Just as she came out, she heard the sound of a door opening downstairs.
"Who is it?" Chen Yu peeked out from under the railing.
"It's me."
A deep, stern voice came from downstairs.
Chen Yu was somewhat surprised to hear his voice. Normally, Shen Yan would eat lunch at the school cafeteria, so why did he suddenly come back today?
She stood at the top of the stairs, wanting to go down and take a look. Just as she jumped down the first step, Chen Yan came up. "I came back to get something."
"oh."
Shen Yan helped Chen Yu back to her room, poured her a glass of milk, then went to his own room to get a book and left.
Chen Yu felt a little disappointed, thinking that Shen Yan had come back specifically to see her.
She was bored all afternoon and had nothing to do. She would lie down and play on her phone, or sit and play on her phone. When she got tired of playing on her phone, she would read a book.
Li Ziyun returned quickly and went upstairs to help Chen Yu down.
"Go to the balcony to get some fresh air; I've been cooped up in the room all day."
"Okay."
Chen Yu sat on the rocking chair on the balcony, looking at an English book. She couldn't understand a word of it, so she simply covered her face with the book.
She fell asleep quickly.
Shen Yan and Chen Kang met downstairs and went upstairs together.
“Chen Yan, please take good care of your sister’s studies these days. Your Aunt Yun and I have been thinking about it and we’re going to have a tutor come over on the weekend.”
"Uncle Kang, I understand. I can teach her and review the material while I'm at it."
Chen Kang smiled and patted Shen Yan on the shoulder. He didn't know when it started, but Shen Yan had grown to be as tall as him. Chen Kang began to marvel at how fast time flies.
The sound of the two entering the house woke Chen Yu. She opened her eyes, looked down, and the book on her face fell to the ground.
Hearing the sound, Chen Kang looked over and saw Chen Yu struggling to pick up a book. He took off his shoes and went over to pick it up, only to find that it was an English book.
"Hmph, fell asleep again, didn't you?"
"Who said that? I just dropped it because I didn't hold it properly." Chen Yu was a little embarrassed that he had been seen through, but he still stubbornly argued.
"See? You say your daughter doesn't look like you. I wonder who else fell asleep while reading when they were young."
"Tsk, anyone could do that! Why bring up something you don't want to talk about!"
Chen Kang blushed at Li Ziyun's words and turned his anger towards Chen Yu, saying, "You're laughing! Hurry up and study, your brother is back."
"What do you study during mealtime?"
Chen Yu rolled her eyes at Chen Kang speechlessly, grabbed his sleeve, and stood up.
Chen Yu stood to the side, expressionless. She wondered if he could ever smile. He was always like this. Did he have no emotions? He was like a robot.
"We'll just have to make do tonight. I got back late and didn't find any good food."
"What's the big deal? As long as it's edible."
Hearing Chen Kang say this, Chen Yu and Shen Yan dared not have any objections.
After eating.
Shen Yan took out his notebook and book from his bag and went to Chen Yu's room. The two were just about to start looking at the exercises.
Then there was a knock on the door. "Chen Yan, open the door, we need to bring some things in."
It was Li Ziyun's voice. Shen Yan didn't dare to be negligent and immediately stood up and opened the door.
Chen Kang and Li Ziyun carried in a large whiteboard.
"Hehe, you didn't expect that, did you? Your mom and I bought you a whiteboard, it will be more convenient for us to give lectures in the future."
"So big? Can it really fit in my room?"
Looking at the size of the whiteboard, Chen Kang realized he had also thought of this problem, so he bought one with wheels.
"That's simple. Just put it in the storage room next door when you're done using it, and take it out when you need it."
"That works too."
Chen Yu reluctantly accepted the suggestion, as long as it wasn't placed in her room.
After Li Ziyun and Chen Kang finished, they went out. Shen Yan took a pen and scribbled on the whiteboard, then erased it. After getting used to it, he took out his notes and gave them to Chen Yu. He then took his books and began to teach Chen Yu.
Shen Yan looked at Chen Yu's test paper and found that she had some basic knowledge, but it was not perfect. Shen Yan explained the content of the teacher's class and gave her some extra help, which made Chen Yu dizzy.
Unable to absorb too much content at once, Chen Yan gave Chen Yu some more questions to test his understanding of the lesson.
To his surprise, she absorbed almost everything he learned that night.
"Alright, it's getting late. I'll teach you something else tomorrow."
"Teacher Shen, don't be in such a hurry. Teach the knowledge slowly."
Chen Yu slumped onto the table, utterly deflated. Her brain was completely overloaded today. If it weren't for Shen Yan's face, she probably wouldn't have been able to hear anything he was saying.
"Okay... I'll head back now."
Shen Yan left the notes with Chen Yu and retrieved her homework from school, telling her to write it down when she had nothing to do tomorrow, and he would correct it for her when he got back.
Chen Yu's lips twitched; she hadn't expected Shen Yan to be so strict.
Shen Yan put the whiteboard in the storage room, took his books and went back to his room. He looked at the problems Chen Yu had done and came up with a more comprehensive plan. He divided his studies into several parts and slowed down the pace of learning a little. If it was too slow, Chen Yu would definitely not be able to understand the teacher's lessons when he returned to school.
"Chen Yan, are you inside?"
"Yes, Aunt Yun, please come in."
Li Ziyun opened the door and entered Shen Yan's room. She sat on the bed and looked at Shen Yan, feeling that she found it difficult to say this.
"Hey Shen Yan, could you tutor Yu Yu from now on? We won't hire a private tutor anymore."
Her words made Shen Yan pause for a moment, but he finally nodded.
“It’s not that I’m unwilling to spend the money to hire a tutor, it’s just that Yu Yu said that what you teach is better than what a tutor can teach. If it delays your learning progress, I’ll talk to Yu Yu again and suggest that it’s better to hire a tutor.”
"It's okay, Aunt Yun, I can do it. I'm reviewing my own lessons while I'm teaching her."
Listening to Shen Yan's words, Li Ziyun sighed inwardly, thinking how well-behaved this child was, wishing he were really her own.
"Then I'll trouble you, Shen Yan. Aunt Yun will cook something delicious for you."
