The school issued a notice stating that senior high school students are required to attend evening self-study sessions.
When Chen Yu heard this, he felt like the sky had fallen. Did that mean that he would no longer be able to get tutoring from Shen Yan?
Jiang Yang and Wang Yue rushed to Chen Yu as soon as get out of class ended.
What should we do?
"I don't know, does this class only have to be scheduled for the weekend?"
Jiang Yang and Wang Yue's barrage of questions left Chen Yu and Shen Yan completely bewildered.
Chen Yu was also thinking about this. They were already day students, and now they had to attend evening self-study sessions, so they would get home very late at night, making it impossible to catch up later.
"It's okay, let's discuss this after school. The next class is the exam."
Just as Shen Yan finished speaking, the English class representative came in with a stack of test papers and told the students to sit down in their seats. The English teacher then distributed the test papers as soon as she arrived.
"Class, there's a pop quiz."
The English teacher casually placed the textbook on the table.
Chen Yu glanced at the test paper; the questions seemed fairly simple.
"The listening exercise is starting now. Everyone listen carefully, it won't be played a second time."
As soon as the English teacher said that, there was a flurry of activity as students flipped through their test papers; it was obvious that everyone was looking at the questions at the back.
Even Chen Yu was no exception, but she just wanted to see how difficult the later questions were.
When the audio started playing, Chen Yu felt that a long string of words just passed by, and she couldn't hear anything clearly.
She didn't finish writing a few questions until the listening section was over.
"Okay, the listening exercise is over."
As soon as the English teacher finished speaking, a chorus of groans erupted from the audience.
"I told you all to listen carefully. This will only be played once during the college entrance exam. If you don't listen carefully, this is how it is, and you'll lose more than half the points."
It seemed the English teacher wasn't planning to play it again, Chen Yu thought, looking at her blank listening comprehension multiple-choice questions.
She will definitely listen carefully next time.
Last night, the last question was answered, and the bell rang to signal the end of get out of class.
This time, however, the English teacher didn't have anyone collect the test papers. Instead, she had to exchange papers with her deskmate to grade them. After the incident with Chen Yu and Li Chang, all the teachers changed their grading methods for in-class quizzes.
Some teachers have to work harder and take the papers back to grade themselves.
Chen Yu looked at the solemn exam paper, filled with answers, and then at her own, which was covered in blank pages. She felt utterly ashamed.
Previously, English was her favorite subject, and she used to get full marks in English. Now, however, she's so bad at it that she can't even listen to it properly.
Shen Yan carefully corrected Chen Yu's mistakes and even circled all the wrong ones.
He handed the test paper to Chen Yu, saying, "Take a look. If there's anything you don't understand, I'll explain it to you during self-study tonight."
Chen Yu nodded, glanced at her test paper, and found that she hadn't even gotten a hundred points. She had lost more than half of her points on the listening comprehension section. She wrote down her mistakes, and then the teacher asked the class representative to collect the test papers.
Jiang Yang and Wang Yue cleverly took pictures of the mistakes, avoiding copying if possible.
Evening self-study.
Chen Yu took out her homework to do.
A commotion arose in the hallway outside the classroom, and everyone looked out curiously.
It turned out that the students from the next class were fighting in the hallway. Jiang Yang stood by curiously to watch, and only then did he realize that one of them was from outside the school.
He jogged over to Wang Yue and whispered the story to her. Wang Yue looked at him in shock and asked in a low voice if it was true or not, because if they got caught, they would be finished.
The noise attracted the attention of the teacher on duty, who turned out to be Lao Wang from Chen Yu's class.
Old Wang and another teacher spent a lot of effort to separate the two who were fighting.
"Which class are you in? I've never seen you before."
Old Wang's attention was immediately drawn to the boys who weren't wearing school uniforms.
The boy then came to his senses and realized that the situation was unfavorable to him. He turned to run, but Old Wang grabbed his hat. The strength of a grown man should not be underestimated.
"Tell me! Which class are you in! You're not wearing your school uniform yet, you've gone too far!"
"Teacher! He's not from our school, he's here to see Ma Qi!"
The boy who had been beaten immediately chimed in, saying that he had been bruised and swollen, with blood still coming out of his nose. Old Wang waved him over to go to the infirmary.
The boy outside the school looked stubbornly at Lao Wang, then glanced at Ma Qi in the classroom.
Ma Qi, a student in the class, had his head down so low he was almost inside his drawer. Old Wang grabbed a boy's hat, walked into Class 2, and called Ma Qi out.
"What are you all looking at! Go back to your studies!"
As soon as Old Wang shouted, all the students who were watching the play ran back to their classrooms.
Chen Yu was upset because she hadn't finished eating the gossip, and Lao Wang even brought her to his office.
She glanced back at Jiang Yang and Wang Yue, and the three of them exchanged a look, immediately understanding what was going on.
Jiang Yang sneaked out first, followed by Chen Yu and Wang Yue.
Shen Yan grabbed Chen Yu's arm as she was about to leave, "Where are you going?"
"I'll go check it out and be right back."
Shen Yan's brows furrowed into a deep frown, and his expression was not good. Chen Yu immediately understood and pulled Shen Yan along.
She thought Shen Yan was blaming her for not including him in such a good thing.
The four men arrived at the office door and squatted down to eavesdrop.
In the office.
"Ma Qi, who is this?"
"Teacher...I don't know him!"
Ma Qi's answer shocked the boy next to her. He was shocked that she had turned her back on him so quickly. "You're lying! You said you liked me yesterday."
Old Wang's lips twitched. "What exactly happened? You ran into our school just to chase after someone you love?"
"Say something, Ma Qi!"
The boy tugged at Ma Qi's sleeve, startling Ma Qi so much that he dodged to the side. "Teacher, I really don't know him."
Ma Qi was so anxious he was almost crying. When Lao Wang saw this, he realized Ma Qi didn't seem to be lying, so he immediately pulled the boy away, saying, "It's wrong of you to do this to a female student."
"She's my girlfriend, and I have records of it."
The boy tried to take his phone out of his pocket, but Ma Qi slapped it away. "Don't talk nonsense here. How could a good student like me know a hoodlum like you?"
She kept giving the boy meaningful glances, signaling him not to betray her.
But the boy didn't see it that way. He thought Ma Qi was trying to turn his back on her, saying, "You still won't admit you're my girlfriend?"
"I'm not like that at all! Don't say that."
Old Wang couldn't stand watching the two of them talking back and forth.
"Which school are you from? Give me your parents' phone number."
"I didn't study, and I'm not from any school. Stop asking me, it's so annoying."
The boy's disrespectful words enraged Old Wang, who slammed his hand on the table and said, "I'll give you one more chance. Speak properly, or I'll call the police."
