Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Lancha looked at the document in his hand, his fingers trembling slightly, his eyes fixed on the paper in front of him, his pupils contracting.

His mind went completely blank the moment he saw the document. It took Lanchai a lot of effort to calm himself down and regain some composure.

Could this document be genuine? Could it be a fake document deliberately shown to him by the person who trapped him here? But the person who trapped him here is clearly more powerful than him and could easily take his life, so what would be the point of showing him a fake document?

Is this document really authentic?

Lan felt as if she had been hit hard on the head with a stick; her head throbbed with pain, and her internal organs seemed to be convulsing.

No, he had to find out if this was true or false! Lancha's knuckles were white from gripping the document so tightly.

He began to recall how, as a child, he was rescued by the clan leader and taken back to the clan. The leader provided him with food and drink and gave him opportunities to learn. It could be said that he was who he was today because of the leader.

The leader's kindness towards him couldn't be fake!

There were also family members who, despite their burly, menacing appearances, had shared drinks and jokes in private...

This family is his home!

Now someone is telling him that the superficial happiness and joy in his home are fake, and that it is filled with the blood and corpses of innocent people, and is extremely foul.

How could he accept that?

Looking at the handwriting on the document in his hand, which recounted one bloody tragedy after another, Lancha couldn't help but raise his hand to cover his chest in pain, his breathing becoming rapid. He wanted to refute it, but he couldn't utter a single word.

He kept recalling the voices and smiles of his leader and companions, and the happy times he had spent with them. A glimmer of light gradually appeared in the depths of his dim eyes.

No, someone must be jealous of our family and trying to frame us. Yes! That must be it. He needs to find the leader and get to the bottom of this; he absolutely cannot let unknown people sow discord between us.

The person hiding in the shadows, seeing him like this now, is probably laughing at him!

Lancha quickly rallied, clutching the documents tightly in his hand, and headed back towards the main entrance. He was going to the leader's office to get some answers from him.

Let's see who's really trying to sow discord between him and his family? They're trying to pin a terrible accusation on his family, one that could bring about their annihilation!

This time, the door to the archives was opened very easily.

As soon as Lancha opened the door, before she even stepped outside, she saw Rokudo Mukuro standing at the entrance.

Lancha breathed a sigh of relief. Ever since he learned of the unknown enemy within his family, he had been extremely worried about the safety of the missing Rokudo Mukuro. Now that he had seen Rokudo Mukuro, he felt much more at ease.

"Mukuro-kun, you should leave here quickly and go find Chigusa and Inu. Once you've reunited, head home immediately. Don't be afraid, I'll be back soon." Lancha forced a smile from his pale face.

Even at this point, he was still worried about the safety of Rokudo Mukuro and the other two children.

Rokudo Mukuro looked up at Rancha, whose face was pale. He had always felt that Rancha was definitely the same kind of person as that idiot Sawada Tsunayoshi. Equally naive, equally kind, equally foolish. Foolishly believing that the world was a beautiful place.

However, it takes skill for them to maintain such naivety and kindness throughout their lives.

Looking at Rokudo Mukuro's eerily calm expression, Lancha felt a sense of unease.

"Uncle Lancha, have you finished looking at what you have in your hands?" Rokudo Mukuro asked with a faint smile. "If you haven't finished, you can continue looking. I'm not in a hurry."

Lancha's face stiffened: "The master will handle the matter. You should go home first." Hearing Rokudo Mukuro's words, Lancha felt even more uneasy.

"Uncle, I found this document." Seeing that Lancha was still running away, running away from the shame of his family, running away from Rokudo Mukuro himself, he decided to lay his cards on the table.

"I also want to ask you, is what's recorded in this document actually true?"

Lancha paused, swallowed hard, and his Adam's apple bobbed up and down: "You're saying you got this?" Lancha was clearly somewhat skeptical.

"I lied to you before. Chigusa and I actually escaped from the human experimentation lab. I learned illusion magic during the experiments, discovered these things, recognized all the words in them, understood what human trafficking and drugs were, and even knew what mortality rate meant! So many innocent people died here." Rokudo Mukuro smiled sarcastically.

Rokudo Mukuro admitted that Rancha was a good person, and that his past life's exploitation and torment of him was an act of repaying kindness with enmity. But even if he were given a second chance, he would never let this evil Mafia family go.

Therefore, he laid out all the facts before Lancha. For a festering wound to heal quickly, it must be cut again to drain the pus until bright red blood flows out.

Lancha felt a chill run down her spine, her breathing became labored, and she struggled to force a sound from her throat: "I don't know!"

He stared intently at Rokudo Mukuro, his eyes red-rimmed, bloodshot, his face pale, and his voice hoarse: "I will go and verify the truth of those things!"

At this moment, Rokudo Mukuro would not empathize with Rancha. He would only take the initiative to break down Rancha's mental defenses and force him to remove the veil covering his eyes and face reality.

"So you really didn't know anything about what happened in this family?"

Rokudo Mukuro's question resounded in Rancha's ears, like a thunderclap.

Did Lancha really not know about the evil deeds his family had committed? Yes, he truly didn't know. Everyone in his family knew his nature and knew that he would never do these things with them. If he found out, he might even turn against them.

So they were all trying their best to keep it from him, to prevent him from getting involved in these sordid things. The superficial glamour and warmth blinded Lancha. Lancha was powerful, an indispensable fighting force for their family, and they couldn't let him go. Who would abandon a knife for self-defense amidst war and danger?

Was Lancha truly unaware? Living in the same family, spending every day together, even the slightest discrepancy would be noticed by a companion. Even if someone deliberately hid or concealed something, who dares to say that Lancha hadn't noticed anything amiss?

But after all, they were companions and family members who spent every day together, so Lancha gave them his complete trust. Even if he found something wrong, he would overlook it because of his trust.

But the seeds of doubt had already been sown. When Lancha saw the document, his first reaction was to believe it.

Lancha closed his eyes in pain, almost speechless, choked by Rokudo Mukuro's questioning.

"Uncle, Chigusa, Inu, and I almost died, so we desperately escaped. We finally made it out, thinking we'd met some good people..." Rokudo Mukuro's voice choked with emotion. "If I didn't have the talent for genjutsu and be able to use it, would I have ended up like these kids?!"

As Rokudo Mukuro activated his genjutsu, scene after scene flashed through Rancha's mind.

Innocent and lovely children, beautiful and delicate girls, and energetic and sunny young people—whether they had an advantage in appearance or outstanding temperament—were all brutally attacked by a group of people whose appearances were obscured. Their clothes became tattered and disheveled, the light in their eyes gradually disappeared over time, sweet laughter turned into agonizing screams, and blood slowly flowed from beneath them, spreading across the floor.

This is the fate of those who were harmed by his family in places he couldn't see...

As if provoked, Lancha, this tall man, suddenly squatted down, his voice trembling slightly: "I...I don't know, I...I don't know...what should we do now?!"

At this moment, Rokudo Mukuro added another dose of drastic medicine: "Uncle Rancha, I know you are a good person, and we are very happy living with you, but I think it would be better for the three of us to leave."

Rokudo Mukuro's voice was filled with sorrow and trembling.

Lanchai also knew that children who had already experienced trauma must never be subjected to a second trauma. Their departure was the best option.

And what about Lancha himself? What should he do?

Should he stay? But he couldn't bring himself to work calmly and confidently with these people who trampled on the innocent and weak. Besides, he wasn't stupid; he knew this family was using him, but emotions were something he couldn't control.

Leaving?! That's not very realistic either. He's the strongest person in the family, and no one is willing to give up such a top-tier fighter. It's impossible for him to leave unscathed.

"Mukuro, what do you think... I should do?"

"Has Uncle confirmed that his family has done something wrong?"

Lancha was silent for a moment, then nodded. The veracity of this matter was already 90%. After Rokudo Mukuro and the others left, he would verify it again, dig out everything, and finally put an end to any doubts he might have.

"Of course they should be punished for doing bad things!" Rokudo Mukuro said indignantly. "Why should they hurt us with impunity, cutting us again and again..."

Accept punishment? Lancha remained silent for a long time. For a child, accepting punishment is the best form of discipline, but what level of punishment should be applied?

If the Vongola found out about their family's actions, they would likely make them pay a bloody price to maintain their dignity and authority. But could they truly accept such a price?

Rokudo Mukuro was still babbling on: "...Tell the police to put these bad guys in jail!"

"Yes! Go to jail!" A thought flashed through Lancha's mind. There was also the Avengers' Prison; that should be able to save their lives.

Lancha had already made up his mind. He reached out and put his hand on Rokudo Mukuro's shoulder: "Mukuro, I know you are strong. Now all you need to do is take Inu and Chikusa home. I will handle everything here... and I will make sure the bad guys receive the punishment they deserve."

"Don't be afraid, I will protect you." After learning that Rokudo Mukuro and the others were experimental subjects, Lancha's first reaction was to protect them.

After saying that, Lancha turned and walked towards the leader's office. Watching Lancha's retreating figure, Rokudo Mukuro smiled: "...kufufufu... Don't blame me! I just made you see reality..."

This can be considered as repaying the kindness you showed me in my past life.

After saying that, he disappeared into thin air.
