Chapter 9 Searching

Yunxi stayed on the mountain for a long time, and it wasn't until her stomach started growling that she realized how much time had passed.

I ate half a sweet potato this morning, and the other half is still in my storage space, so I simply took it out and started eating it.

Although the little girl in her memory always had stomach problems from eating this stuff, Yunxi found it quite delicious when she ate it herself.

Perhaps because they haven't eaten much good food, even eating a sweet potato tastes especially delicious.

The edges of the deep mountains have even more mushrooms, so I simply let the small vines roll them one by one into the basket. Once the basket is full, any extras are stored in my spatial storage.

After harvesting all the mushrooms in the area, I carried a full basket of mushrooms on my back and headed home.

He walked along, reluctant to put down the half-eaten sweet potato in his hand, and kept munching on it.

Yunxi went to a rather remote mountain this time, and by the time she reached the foot of the mountain from the edge of the deep mountains, quite a long time had passed.

When I passed by the farmland, I noticed that there were no people working in the fields, so they must have all gone home for lunch.

Yunxi didn't run into a single acquaintance on the way. It seemed that everyone was hiding at home at this time of year because of the heat. Even the mischievous children didn't come out; they were probably staying home to avoid the sun.

When Yunxi hurriedly returned home, she heard the chickens in the backyard clucking incessantly.

At this moment, Yunxi suddenly remembered that she still had four or five chickens at home. She hadn't fed them when she left in the morning and had forgotten about them. Now that it was so late, it would be strange if they weren't squawking.

He took the key out of the room, opened the door, and quickly went inside. He then stuck the bar behind the door in the lock, feeling a bit safer that way.

I quickly filled the storage room with some rice bran, mixed it with some water, and poured it into a corner of the backyard.

In the far corner of the toilet, there was a wooden fence where five chickens were kept.

Watching the chickens eagerly pecking at the rice husks, Yunxi quickly filled a small bowl with water and placed it in the broken bowl beside her; this was for the chickens to drink.

Only after feeding the chickens did I have the mood to look at the other things in the backyard. There were many vegetables planted in the backyard, and now it was harvest time. Each type of vegetable had a lot of ripe vegetables on it.

As a plant herself, Yunxi knew these plants best. She knew that if the vegetables on them weren't picked soon, they would become too old.

I quickly thought of ways to prepare these vegetables.

The little girl's grandmother dried all the vegetables to keep for winter, but now that she has her own innate space, she doesn't need to go through all that trouble; she can just store them directly in her space.

I looked up at the bright sun in the sky and decided to wait until sunset before picking the fruit.

However, seeing the chickens eating only rice bran felt a bit too pitiful, so I simply picked some leaves from under the vegetables and fed them some fresh vegetable leaves as an extra meal.

Sure enough, the fresh leaves were more popular, and the five chickens rushed to peck at the vegetable leaves, even ignoring the rice bran.

Back in the front yard, I filled the well with some water and washed myself thoroughly. Perhaps because my skin is too delicate, after walking around the mountain, I felt a persistent itchiness.

It seems she needs to find some plants with healing properties, extract their essence, and apply it to herself so she can recover faster.

I was originally thinking of cooking something delicious to fill my stomach.

But I felt full after eating only half a sweet potato, and I couldn't eat any more.

For a moment, Yunxi felt a bit aimless.

Finally, I realized there was still one room I hadn't looked at yet, so I decided to take this opportunity to explore it. After all, it would be my place to live in the future, so I should familiarize myself with everything.

Find the key to the door to Grandma's room, open the door, push it open and go inside. You'll find a table with four memorial tablets on it.

Yunxi, who had just entered, was startled. She patted her chest, realizing she hadn't been prepared. If she had been, she wouldn't have been so scared.

After all, she was a fairy, and had seen quite a lot of the world.

The bones of corpses abandoned in the deep mountains and forests, after being exposed to the wind and sun, turn into bones, and occasionally you can see a corpse that looks like a mummified corpse.

I've seen much more frightening things, but these four memorial tablets didn't seem so scary.

At first I was scared because I wasn't prepared, but now I think it's nothing special.

After calming down, Yunxi went straight into the house. As a fairy, she wasn't afraid of these things at all!

The four memorial tablets represent the original owner's grandfather, grandmother, father, and mother. Now that the little girl thinks about it, she must have been reunited with her grandparents and parents, and the whole family is now together.

The original owner's grandfather, the little girl herself had little memory of him, let alone Yunxi herself.

The most vivid memories I have are of my grandmother, father, and mother.

He stepped forward, followed the little girl's movements from his memory, lit three incense sticks, and bowed properly to the four memorial tablets. After all, he had taken the body of their granddaughter and daughter, so he should still show the proper etiquette.

I put the incense sticks into the small incense burner in front of me and watched the smoke slowly rise from the three sticks. Only then did I breathe a sigh of relief.

It was obvious that they didn't blame themselves for taking over their granddaughter's and daughter's bodies.

Yunxi didn't know if others would believe this, but as an old demon who had lived for thousands of years, she knew that just because you didn't believe in something didn't mean it didn't exist.

At the very least, she's an old monster who's lived for so long; she's seen plenty of strange things.

The room was quite simply furnished. Besides the kang (heated brick bed) for sleeping, there was a cabinet at the head of the kang, and several boxes were placed on the side of the kang and on the floor.

Instantly, that greedy, treasure-hunting mindset kicked in, and I prepared to take a look at the things in this room.

Yunxi rummaged through this and that, but apart from some old clothes, there wasn't much of value to be found.

But she saw a thick notebook, and upon closer inspection, she found that it contained things she didn't recognize.

However, she knew from her memories that this was something called a calendar. Since she didn't know what era she had come from, having this thing would allow her to know which year she had been reborn into.

Looking at the date on the calendar, it was July 5, 1955.

Yunxi felt that something was wrong with the time. The day this calendar was turned to should have been when her grandmother was still alive; it was her grandmother who turned to it.
