“Many of the vegetables in this yard are getting old, Xing Tang, why don’t you ask your friend if he wants to help pick them? We have nothing to do right now, so it’ll be something to pass the time.”
Fu Zhewen went to the backyard and found that the vegetables were growing exceptionally well; some of them would be too old if they weren't picked soon.
As a family that has to go to the market to buy groceries, Fu Zhewen felt it was such a waste to see so many vegetables going to waste.
Qin Mo and Yang Junhao were also particularly interested in the vegetable garden that Fu Zhewen mentioned. After taking a sip of water, they walked towards the backyard.
In the end, all four of them ran to the backyard, and no one wanted to eat snacks or drink tea anymore.
They were just teenagers, how could they sit there peacefully drinking tea? Even if they sat on a stool, they would probably feel that the stool was prickly and they couldn't sit still.
Seeing the backyard filled with vegetables, Li Xingtang thought to himself that Yunxi's academic performance was so good, maintaining first place, yet she still managed to take care of things at home. She was truly amazing.
"You all wait here, I'll go ask Yunxi."
He ran straight to the kitchen.
"Yunxi, many of the vegetables in the backyard are ripe and ready to be picked. They'll get too old if we don't pick them soon. Would you like me to help you pick them all?"
Yunxi thought of the vegetables in the backyard. She had only forgotten about them these past few days because she had been busy drying medicinal herbs. Otherwise, she would have picked them and put them into her space long ago.
"Okay, then you can pick all the edible ones. You can take some back with you this afternoon. You can't eat them all anyway. You'll have to pick them all when you go to high school. Pick as many as you want, don't be shy."
Yunxi felt that she might prefer to eat more meat, so the vegetables stored in her space wouldn't be used much, and there was no need to keep so many.
There are thousands of kilograms of yam powder in the space, all of which she washed bit by bit. It's rare for them to come here, so she'll pack some for each of them to take back later.
Alone in the kitchen, Yunxi took out various kinds of meat, preparing to let them have a good meal at noon today.
In the afternoon, they wanted to go hunting in the mountains, because they needed to eat their fill to have the energy.
Li Xingtang went straight to the backyard, where Fu Zhewen was still waiting. "Yunxi said we can pick them now. She'll be going to high school soon, and they'll spoil if no one watches them. It's better to pick them all. When you go back, each of you can take some home."
The vegetables in the yard are growing exceptionally well. All the fresh leafy greens have been picked, and even the chives have been harvested.
Only the chili peppers, pumpkins, and winter melons that could be kept were preserved.
You can wait until all the peppers are red and the pumpkins and winter melons are ripe before harvesting.
They originally thought there wouldn't be much work to do, but they didn't expect there to be so many vegetables to pick that the two of them felt they couldn't finish.
They quickly called over Qin Mo and Yang Junhao, who were sitting in the yard eating snacks.
"You two come and help quickly, we're really overwhelmed."
Yang Junhao looked at the pile of vegetables by the field and asked, "So many! Won't they spoil if we can't finish them?"
"Probably not. If you can't finish them, you can dry them into vegetables. I've seen Yunxi dry vegetables. You can add another vegetable to your diet in winter."
These people aren't the type to do manual labor regularly, but they were quite diligent. It took them about an hour to pick everything except what they wanted to keep.
The meal in Yunxi was also prepared. Several large bowls of meat were placed on the table. The small fruits and tea on the table were removed, and the bowls and chopsticks were arranged before heading to the backyard.
"Are you all done? The food is ready, let's eat first!"
I glanced at the pile of vegetables on the side; there was indeed quite a lot.
I'll be going back to school in a little over a month, so I need to take care of these things before then.
"Coming, almost done."
There was only a little bit of finishing work left, which was done very quickly.
This person made several trips and moved all the vegetables to the eaves in front of the house.
If placed elsewhere, they would quickly wilt in the sun; at least being under the eaves provides some shade.
I washed my hands again by the well. After being busy for so long, I was really hungry. After washing my hands, I couldn't wait to go into the living room.
Looking at the meat and vegetables on the table, it seems that Yunxi really doesn't treat them as outsiders!
"Yunxi is so generous! I've never eaten so much meat in one meal before. Thank you so much, Yunxi."
"That's right, it seems we still benefited from Li Xingtang and Yunxi's influence."
Yunxi seemed quite accepting of being called "Yunxi Girl" by them.
"There's nothing good in the countryside, but as long as you're diligent, you won't starve. Let's eat our vegetables."
Without any hesitation, the group started eating after Yunxi took a bite.
After putting the food in their mouths, the group found it particularly delicious. Holding chopsticks in one hand, they raised their thumbs in the other and gestured to Yunxi.
It was a heartfelt compliment: "It's so delicious! Yunxi's cooking skills are truly excellent."
Seeing the four people praising her nonstop, Yunxi felt a little embarrassed.
Her cooking skills are decent, but her five senses are exceptionally sharp; she can roughly distinguish anything that goes into her mouth.
Whether it tastes good or not, your tongue will never lie to you. Slow improvements are necessary, which is why it gets better and better.
"Since you think it's delicious, then eat more. Don't be shy. You're all Li Xingtang's friends, and we'll all be friends from now on, so eat more."
"Mmm, don't worry, Yunxi, we won't be polite. It's just too delicious."
Watching them shovel the food into their mouths, Yunxi felt a sense of accomplishment.
Especially when we finally finished our meals, we were incredibly happy.
As a cook, I'm already very proud if the food I make is eaten up completely.
After the meal, Yunxi didn't have to lift a finger.
Li Xingtang was incredibly fast; he picked up the bowls and chopsticks and took them away immediately. The others also helped clean up the vegetables under the eaves.
Yunxi didn't stop them. Anyway, they were going to take the vegetables back with them, so it was fine for them to clean up the vegetables they were going to take back themselves.
I cleaned the living room, looked around the yard (there was no dirty spot), and then squatted down to clean the vegetables.
Some things don't need to be cleaned at all, like chili peppers and eggplants, while others do need to be cleaned, like water spinach and chives.
With many hands making light work, the area was cleaned up in less than half an hour.
The four boys had eaten too much, and now, after about half an hour, their stomachs had digested a little and they weren't feeling so uncomfortable anymore. So they decided to go hunting in the back mountains.
